Miguel as a DC5 time attack/HPDE owner, I’ve owned 5 of them so far. These cars can be really amazing. They take abit more patience, trial and error and money obviously to get right. Here is the formula to a peppy budget FBO rsx HPDE/time attack car. 1. PNN3 LSD trans(8th gen si trans) 2. Coilovers. You have to run a stiffer rear spring vs the fronts(yes ik it’s weird) 3. Rear sway bar(24mm) 4. SHG rack slider 5.honed developments rack raiser and tie rods 6. Any roll center correction ball joints(I like hardrace) 7. FBO the usual Kseries stuff(I/H/E) 8. Good bucket seat 9. I would put a big aluminum rad(you live in Cali) 10. Engine mounts(hasport 62a is fine if your gonna track a lot, vibranetics if your gonna mostly daily drive and track 2-3 times a year. 11. Any 200TW tire 12. Good alignment 13. The TL type S brembo retro fit works amazing 14. Track pads and high temp brake fluid. 15. Short shifter(tons to choose from).

These are becoming classics and appreciating in value. Finding ones that are clean example, mature owned are getting rare and sell really well. Kids buying these and wrecking with over modding are making good ones hard to find.

Without a doubt. This thing wasn’t taken cared for properly. Seen it happen with Dsms. When they’re cheap to aquire, people that shouldn’t be modifying or fixing cars get them and ruin them for the next owner. Only gets harder to find clean examples

I modded my type s. bolt on k24 with poly bushings and a rear sway bar. It looks totally stock but is way more fun.
@rivern9291 Жыл бұрын
Spherical lca bushings, spherical tie rod ends, steering rack slider upgrade, extended roll center adjusting ball joints, coilovers with swift springs stiffer in the rear, sway bars. Drop it low and give about -2 camber then take it back to the track and see the difference.

05 and 06 RSX (Integra) Type S is just the best looking Honda there is. I always had trans problems with my k20z1 though 3rd gear was amazing but tended to break the linkages made no sense. Another downer is that it dont have an LSD, it does have the best RPMs and sound ever as well and a sun roof is a huge plus to me. Its tuff to find a rsx now. when i get back into project cars im going back to my rsx s 05 06 the k20z1 is just a all out better k series motor then the rest of them. i so miss my type s rsx its a deep pain in my soul i cant get rid of.

My 2006 RSX has over 160,000 (70,000 by me) miles and zero grinds whatsover but I'm using it (winding it out daily to 8,500 RPM on a reflash), but not abusing it (banging gears to shave fractions of seconds of time). MFactory LSD. It's like $700 max and great reliability. Been running it problem free forever.

I bought my 2006 BOM Type S ASpec in 2012 as a "cheap pos" to have fun in to keep the daily duties off of my built R32 GTR. I paid 6700 for it with 87k miles on it. Right now, and for the past 12 years of ownership....it's gone to a PPG Dogbox, 600whp daily usable RSX, I've had zero issues, ever, and I'm on a stock motor. 600whp for 24k miles and not street only, I use it on circuits as well. It is just FUN. The feel is incredible, and the best part of the car can't really be captured on video, it's also very capable of being truly fast on track. As for your setup, stagger tires...245 front, 225 or 215 rear to start. Grab a progress 30mm rear bar then try coilovers with somewhere in the area of 10-12kg front, and 7-9kg rear. Rely on the bars to stop lateral sway vs. Overly stiff coilovers. It prevents wheelhop and that porpoising to provide much better traction out post apex. Avoid the usual Competition Clutch Stg 3 at all costs. They had a bad batch that are failing regularly now. Try a Exedy or Clutch masters. Motul 600 or 660 brake fluid, definitely stainless steel lines. That'll get you going very well. A LSD is pretty much required once you want to do anything more than have fun, and is the single best mod I did to the car so far. Quaife is great for track, but MFACTORY was better and mkre reasonable on the street. Hope to see more content, car looks fantastic!

easy fix - when my clutch broke in my 2006 RSX-S at around 140,000 mile it was the perfect time to get organic stage 1, 10.5 lb flywheel, MFactory LSD (cheap and very reliable), and clutch delay valve delete all handled at the same time.
@NinjaForHire Жыл бұрын
@@BossItUp911 awesome dude I did the same but never forked up the 900 bucks for an LSD can I ask you what type of clutch an flywheel you went with. Personally I'm a fan of a few companies that are tried and true in the Honda enthusiast market so I went with a stage 1 Exedy Racing Clutch and the ever so balling Exedy Lightweight chromoly 8.9lbs flywheel I matched the 2 myself and once installed it was a whole new beast.
@BossItUp911 Жыл бұрын
@@NinjaForHire MFactory LSD is $700 and it is the brand you want IMO. Quality is high despite the low price. Your Stage 1 Exedy Organic is ideal to hold NA through greddy turbo (or comparable small turbo) levels of torque reliably as organic clutches provide daily-driver-friendly pedal feel. I have competition clutch 11.65 lb flywheel and Stage 1 Organic.

These cars are becoming really hard to find in good condition because: 1. People rip the drivetrain out to kswap the 90’s Hondas. 2. They are so reliable that they will do 300k miles so easily(downside of this is, body is probably gonna be trash by then) 3.it’s an appealable option for young guys getting into cars(young people wreck them alot, my brother is responsible for wrecking 3 already so far) 4. Well they also didn’t sell as good as the old DC2 Integra, so fewer on the road.
@jdmkidk24 Жыл бұрын
I love the dc5 platform but unfortunately for track it’s not good at all. Honda’s biggest mistake was mounting the steering rack high up. That’s why the 8th gen si has the steering rack attached to the subframe. Many people are doing great things with this chassis but it takes a lot
@brandon_buildsDIY Жыл бұрын
It’s a hard car to make handle/behave like the 90’s Hondas. However with some trial and error to see what the driver likes and patience. These cars can be just as good as the golden age Hondas. The fastest Integra in Japan time attack is a DC5. Pretty much stock motor just insane suspension work and extreme weight cut.

The next car I plan to get is a 2020-2021 BMW M240i xDrive. That is an amazing track and street car. If I get super rich, I will get the G87 M2. Jackie Ding is the main person who is showing what the G87 M2 can do on race tracks. Other than that, the best track cars to beat are Porsche GT3 RS. I watch Misha Charoudin videos. He talks about how bad lamborghinis are on the tracks, but everyone likes the SVJ for some reason. He hates those cars haha. I'm not a huge fan of lamborghinis either. Misha's main track car is an M240i.

The Rsx has many negatives but it's very mod friendly to help mitigate those negs. One thing that annoys me about Rsx enthusiasts is that they like to talk down on the 02-04 pre-face lift models. I would agree that the 05-06 has that luxurious look. However, there's something to the classic look of the 02-04 models that got me. Which is why I own one 🙂
