The Cross has plenty of pep. Every one of these reviews exaggerates the lack of acceleration to a ridiculous extent. I just purchased an XLE and did quite well for myself driving home on one of the most aggressive highways in the nation. I barely depress the gas petal and it zips along great. No issue with inclines at all. This isn’t supposed to be a dragster. It is plenty fast.

Reviewers for some odd reason have a boner for less than 10 second acceleration, CVT engine, and all wheel drive functionality. Maybe it's a talking point that they are told to say. Who knows. 🤷‍♂️

@@ThanatosDMC Yeah, it’s silly for this level of car. I went into the test drive expecting the tepid acceleration of the Subaru Forrester I had two cars ago but ended up having the salesman tap me because I was over the speed limit without realizing it. The car gets along fine. I’m not going to try to race Ferraris anytime soon and I’m cool with that.

I like Raiti's reviews but he is crazy with the "on throttle" for everything he reviews. People who buy this car, like me, are more concerned about just getting around without getting hit by all the idiots on the road these days...and getting over 30 mpg in these days of $4/gallon gas. And then engine having port injection along with direct injection really speaks for longevity and resale value for this size vehicle. I just need to find an XLE now, not easy.

I think this will be a smash hit for Toyota because vehicles are so expensive today, this fills so many needs. Complaining about the lack of horsepower for this vehicle would be like reviewing a Hummer and complaining about the gas mileage. I really like this new model here.

I owned a Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE and I loved everything about it except for the lack of space in the backseat and trunk. Currently I'm driving a 2019 Corolla hatchback SE and I really do love my car. I've never been one for SUV's until recently I've been driving my company's car that is a compact SUV. I really like sitting up a bit higher now and having that AWD capability. I think this car could for sure soon be the next car I'm driving for a long time! Great review!

Here in the Denver Metro area, 80% of the time we're stuck going 30 to maybe 45 mph. In heavy traffic, it doesn't matter what you drive, you're going 30 mph.

Great review! A friend of mine has the Honda HRV, and my only minor complaint about that car is power. 98% of the time, the amount of power is fine. Even for the 2% of the time when you would like more power, the power delivery is adequate. The car does return 30+/- mpg, so if the Corolla Cross does the same, Toyota should sell a lot of these. A CITY car-YES.

I purchased a Rav4 3 mo ago. It's just not me. I had a Toyota Matrix I loved. 15 yrs but started to cost for repairs. Hoping this car will be a little more I would be more comfortable with. Probably the same hybrid system found in the Lexus UX, over 180hp, and more torque, than the gas engine. which means better acceleration, higher towing capacity, and better MPGs

Great review! I am currently thinking about a Rav4 (which for some reason didn’t grab me much on the test drive), the 2022 Hyundai Tucson (haven’t driven it yet), or this vehicle. Mostly country driving, some city/suburban driving, need a cuv/suv for the ground clearance. I owned a Toyota Corolla Wagon for 20 years! Currently driving a relative’s Suzuki Grand Vitara, which is useful but a gas guzzler, and around the same hp as this Cross! Struggles uphill so I was wondering if the Cross would be similarly challenged, or maybe better for being maybe a lighter vehicle. Thanks for your thoughts. Also, Lori’s camera work is seamless, really excellent!

I love this car! I’ve been looking for a car for a while and none of the used options are the greatest… you can have style and fun or reliability and practicality and none of it is cheap if you want new tech or low miles. Great review of the latest Corolla offering. Was considering buying a RAV4 prime earlier this year but Toyota was and still is not willing to sell one unless your willing to pay Tesla pricing. Easy decision buying a Tesla. Now we're looking for a spare car to replace my 1999 Sienna. The Cross looks nice and we will be checking it out. I have to laugh these big auto companies getting cheap with Toyota not putting in a seat pocket behind the driver (my model 3 didn't come with car mats). Thank you for the video. How is the cabin noise? The wind noise in my 2019 Rav4 is so loud, sometimes unbearable. I love the interior of my Rav4, it is so comfortable, so looking for something similar just minus the wind noise.

During the early 70s I was stationed at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas. A fellow worker owned a Corolla. He drove that car into places a jeep might hesitate. Another worker decided to get a Corolla and drive it like the other guy. He drove down a off road stretch and ripped the oil pan off. He found out, he didn't have technique. He in turn bought a four wheeler. The first Corolla had a really number of miles on it. The owner really loved that car. He like to brag how it took him into places and only a two wheel drive.

i have a corolla cross with 2.0 engine. i use extreme driving style to get 5.0L/100km, which is 47 MPG. i never go over 100km/h, seldom let the engine go over 2500rpm when accelerating and hyper mill when ever possible. so l smile when i see the gas pump, and its a different kind of fun to squeeze for MPG.

I'm going to get one in the XLE trim with AWD. I will get it in the Cypress Green exterior with a black interior (keeps clean easier than the mocha/macadamia combo). JBL sound system if available, but currently it isn't with my color choice in my region.
