For the N64 games, it's better to use the android system and not the Linux. Also, if you can manually fix the resolution settings and frame rate of the emulator, you'll get the desired results to enjoy the games.

I'd recommend the retroid pocket 2s, you can get it for $115 if you get the 32 gb model and 4px shipping but everything psp and under will play perfectly. The only downside for me is the screen size since i have to stretch out psp :(

First off let me say, awesome review of this product! I've been seriously looking at picking one of these up but am a little upset to hear it doesn't really reliably play 64 games along with dreamcast and psp games... you mentioned if those are the systems you require you would recommend picking up a higher end emulator.. so I wanted to ask what devices you would recommend that would reliably play all of these systems games? The console comes with the operating systems of Android and Linux. Some emulators work better in Android and the other way around. It's all just of a matter of manually adjusting the frame rates and resolutions of the emulators to get good results. Also, you can get a 128 GB SD card and run other operating systems that work better with Dreamcast.

I think by now they'll all be fully playable. When I first got the old RG351V, Dreamcast and N64 was basically unplayable, even with custom OS's back then, but now with all the advancements, I can play almost everything. I'm thinking of picking this up, I already own an RP3+ and an Odin but the look of this thing, the size, it's hard to pass up. I'm just looking for any NEW video's of this console with custom OS's to see if it's actually fully playable. If my RG351V can play almost all the games, I think the RG353V would be able to play all of them now.

Great review, for N64 in Retroarch, use the Parallel core and play around with the GFX plugin, I find gln64 has the best results, I can play almost all of the games now on my old RG351V, it's come a long way on ArkOS. Dreamcast too on the RG351V, many games are now playable compared to when I first used the custom OS's. Anberelec, ArkOS, and JelOS. You probably can play all of the games for N64 and Dreamcast now on the RG353V. I'm really thinking of picking this one up, I just love the white with the colored buttons, slap a dreamcast decal and I'll be happier than a big in sh*t. lol.

Anything that uses retroarch, has this feature built in, most emulators support this too except for 3DS, Gamecube and Wii on Dolphin. I dunno why! Their PC versions have this ability but the android versions don't.

Depends where you buy it from. Some places don't offer any games since that is considered illegal in some countries...others charge extra to include games, no, you can't pick and choose which games you want, it's basically a rom dump into a cheap SD card. Most suggest you copy the games onto a name brand card since the generic SD cards they offer have been known to fail after a few months.

It can easily handle PS1 games as well as N64, Dreamcast,and PSP,...he just didn't bother switching the OS to Android since some emulators run better on that side. You're better off watching other reviews with people that are more thorough.

This wasn't a very thorough review, given that most of the problems you found are fixed when you play them on the android side. You didn't even mention the handheld's full capabilities like Bluetooth, HDMI, wifi, and dual os... also, the touchscreen is enabled on the android side where you can play DS games, unlike the Linux side which is disabled there...I got mine a couple of months ago through Temu for $100 and am quite satisfied with it...the only thing I don't like is the screen is smaller than I thought. It's hard to see text, especially with RPGs...this is my 1st handheld since the Gameboy advance came out and this blows it out of the water... I was actually in the market for a mayoo mini but as you stated they are hard to find. But once I saw the size of this one 1st hand I'm glad I didn't get the mayoo mini at all given the screen size would be smaller... If I decide to get another it would have to be horizontal and most likely it will be the retroid pocket 3 plus as that seems to have the ideal size for me, not too big, not too small...or the pocket 4 whenever that comes out.

This should have been labeled a "1st impression unboxing" as that is what it really is.

Thank you! :) Ds plays alright but it isn’t perfect. If you are looking for the best way to play ds games affordably I highly reccomend getting an r4 card. They only cost around $20-30 and you can use them on any model of ds and even on 3ds!

I just watched tech dweeb play GTA on PSP at two times resolution at full speed but on your channel you can’t even play it at native resolution. I wonder what the differences is.

The difference is this guy played it out of the box as is and didn't bother to do much else. This handheld has a duo os so some games actually play better on the android side which he didn't demonstrate here. Go with tech dweeb's review or others that dive deeper into the tech, specs, and full features of the handheld... This device can do more and is a lot better than this guy is showing...Retro Game Corp is very thorough with all the handhelds and includes tips and tricks to make them better...he has a review on this device, go watch it and see the difference.

I have a retroid pocket 3+ which is supposedly able to play ps2 and GameCube. The downside is you have to set it up from the get go with no roms! I got the snes looking one (purple buttons) but I’m going to try and offload it or trade it for something!

It has more to do with the emulators themselves being optimized. Some emulators work better than others in the same game for that reason.

For fucks sakes just buy a Vita and a N3DSXL if you want the best of the best Emulation instead of spending 150€ in a maybe it'll play maybe not device. You'll actually play most of the games natively and you have the perk of an OLED screen on the older Vita model. I got both of mine for 270€ in mint condition with boxes, cases and manuals. And they play everything smoothly!

Chill man chill!!!! It’s cool for people to have choices. I have a modded 3ds and I love it but not everyone has the patience to mod a console. Some people prefer the retro handhelds. I like both options for different reasons. I’m not trying to persuade people one way or the other.

@@supersambams My comment is directed to the people who watch these and think about buying them. The "high end" expensive retro handhelds lack in all departments (UniSoc, cheap plastic bodies, subpar glitchy OS's). I'd still recommend a RG35XX or a Miyoo Mini for $50 though.

The vita doesn't have a real dpad which a lot of people will have as a requirement and the n3ds xl starts at $200 used, twice the price of this thing. Also the screen quality isn't much better than a $20 handheld

@@Neucher The vita has a universally loved D-pad and is considered to be among the best ones ever made if not the best by quite alot of people. Gamers who play fighters praise it and people who tried out other consoles have claimed it has the best D-pad ever made. The N3DSXL goes for around $150 or 150€. Don't get tricked into purchasing it for higher than that. This thing costs $88 for the base model and can go up to $140. Take into account shipping and custom fees. Plus the need of a SD card if you go for the base model. Quite a few N3DSXL's for the price i've mentioned above come with an SD included. Now remember. Sure the 3DS has a slightly higher cost. But it plays from GBA, SNES to 3DS etc... natively. No issues, no lagging, no screen tearing, no audio crackle, no messing around with settings other than hacking it for the first and only time. You will run into issues emulating with the RG353V and all other retro chinese handhelds. No game will be played natively and it won't have nearly as much support as the OG consoles have when it comes to software improvement, game porting and well... system stability overall. The N3DS specifically can also play PS1 though not all games. I still recommend the RG35XX and Miyoo Mini Plus if you get them under $50. They are cheap and they do the job well enough considering the price. Oh and another bonus with ther N3DSXL when hacked. You can use pokémon bank. The vita... is another story. A beast for portable retro gaming aswell for sure. Plays PSP, Vita, PS1, PS2 (ports) all natively on a beautiful OLED screen. Such a treat...

I have a Vita but they have charging issues where it'll randomly stop charging or it won't charge to 100%, it's very annoying. To where the RG353V you don't have to worry about charging issues.
