Christians: It doesn't matter when "most of them" are from. It matters when the earliest ones are dated from, and how consistent they are with the later ones. They certainly arent exact replicas, but they are incredibly close. Its easy to throw out a one liner to cause doubt. Do your own research. The oldest manuscripts are much closer to the events than 1100 or 1200 A.D. And scholars can use some of the events recorded in certain books to be able to date when the originals were probably written, such as some of Paul's letters. It's fascinating. That's not even mentioning the Qumran scrolls, which date back to before the time of Jesus, containing parts of nearly every old testament book. I didnt get to watch this whole video, perhaps the lecturer covered this. If not, look into it. It doesn't automatically mean the bible is true, but don't let anyone tell you we have no idea what was originally written in the scriptures. We have a pretty good idea. And of course, there are other ways to affirm the claims of the bible. An open mind has to admit some of it is quite hard to explain away as fairytales.

The point he was making is that these 1000s of manuscripts agree with the smaller number of older manuscripts which is evidence that the NT was transmitted correctly. The historical veracity of the bible far outweighs that of other ancient works of antiquity which scholars are quickly to accept.

​@@darken3150 Having 1000s of manuscript agree with one another in remarkable fashion is just a part of the cumulative prima facie case for the bible's Divine inspiration. Along with the manuscript evidence, you have fulfilled prophecy of people, places and events and no records of any prophecies falsified. The unity between 40 authors in 66 different books over 1500 years in 3 languages on 3 continents from different professions and different walks of life - and yet harmony. The preservation of the bible despite the numerous attempts to destroy it throughout history. The accessibility of the bible which has been translated in hundreds of languages and always a best seller. Authenticated by Archaeology - no Archaeology discovery has ever contradicted but rather confirmed the bible. The bible is the most historically attested book of ancient antiquity and that is not only accepted by Christians, but most scholars. Are you looking for proof of inspiration? You can't apply the scientific method to history. You can only look at the evidence which is what all scholars do in regards to an ancient document. Is it the truth? I invite you to read and study it yourself cover to cover and then decide.
