Is the blue bug actually faster on A01?

Hey guys, in today's video I'll be talking about the blue bug on A01, it has been brought up a few times before in the TASing community and I thought I'd make a video on it, so I did.
FYI: The uphill airtime reduction is also simulated. (mostly because I couldn't be bothered to work on it myself.)

Let me just say that whoever the mapper was for this map, they had the vision and understanding that the finish will be placed wher it is. Because a lot of these TAS tools are almost hitting the arch.

I wonder if when testing the map they did a speed slide without knowing what a speed slide is and saw it was possible to jump pretty far, so they extended it more than necessary knowing that eventually someone might do it with that kind of speed.

I remember back when totomania was doing the a01k project hundreds of us played the map, a person actually got a front wheel ram there and showed the recording. However when we told them to send that replay to tassers ASAP he said he wouldnt because he was messing araound the starting line for like 15 seconds for the video before going.

this is actually a good question, the possibilities could exist.

it's not negligible, though it is very minor. problem is you usually want to experiment with different sd approaches, trying out different lines/exit angles and so on. and with the infrequency of bluebugs and how they restrict you to basically a single line, it's not viable setting up sd's with them

over 1 thousand + hours of playing trackmania nations forever i have NEVER gotten a blue bug just for comparasion of how rare it is, I have gotten many things, many ubers outside stadium many nosespins, many 2 wheels, and many double ramn bugs, but never a blue bug

Not that I am aware of, no.

That's exactly what TMI's bruteforce and validation mode do. They run the physics engine at full capacity without any rendering or overhead.

@@donadigotm Ah cool, do you have a ballpark of how many physics frames you can do per second on 1 core on a modern CPU? Is it closer to 1000 or closer to 100000?

@@Krithalith For me, this is typically 1 minute in-game that can be simulated in 1 second. One second has 100 ticks, so we're looking at 100*60 = 6000 ticks/second. This can depend on hardware and you could also run many instances if you wanted to.

Some people have questioned this, and the answer is no, it would actually be slower due to having to get the bluebug to sd rather than starting it earlier using braketap. Plus it's told that braketap only loses you a tiny bit of speed
