Just actually bought this course yesterday from your recommendation, after passing security+. So far so good more reading material than videos though, just different from the Udemy videos I’m use too.

Yeah definitely a lot more reading but very digestable🙂.

Got smoked, did the entire course and did not feel prepared. I also only have help desk experience but the Splunk labs were nothing compared to the real exam. They need to be more transparent about the difficulty. IMO this is entry level, but only entry level for those with atleast a year experience in an SOC environment.

I have the same question now. I have done sec+ and am planning to do it. I find it very difficult to get a job in cyber security and jobless. can you tell me how long it will take you? I can study for 2-3 hours daily as I work in a fast food joint to manage my expenses. Please help me with this question.

CyberWox, thank you for your video presentations related to BLT1. I just purchased the course and have begun Domain1. While every person can have a different experience starting and completing the course based upon their experience level and the time they commit to studying, can you tell me what your or an average time frame it took you to start and complete the course? I am looking to earn this cert to help begin an entry level analyst role. Any advice fr the course? Thanks for sharing your experience, etc.! Joe

Each person differs for completing the course based upon the time they invest daily and weekly. The level of experience and IT background can also benefit and have some advantage in getting through the material sooner. For my case, I started and stopped due to unforeseen family issues. What I do know is for some, it took as little as one month and others on average three months. What is key, is to be consistent and your time management so with your work schedule and everything else take your time, learn the concepts as they'll build upon one another. My best wishes for your success. Let me know when you finish, I'l send you that Congrats!@@ishansharma7774

A combination of both but mostly labs.

If you aren't familiar with Splunk you will struggle in the BTL1 exam. Apart from this I will say it is a Entry Level Exam. Apart from this if you have a little bit of knowledge about offensive side it will help in the exam. P. S: The content provided in the course for Splunk isn't sufficient.
@sugarskulllyfe58902 жыл бұрын
agree 100% you need to be competent in splunk to pass this exam. if not you will 100% fail.
@DayCyberwox2 жыл бұрын
I agree with this to an extent. With Splunk, the course gives you a strong foundation for what you need but playing around with the Boss of the SOC data darts might help you a little bit. In regards to having a little bit of offensive knowledge - nope not necessary at all. It’s rather curiosity. You need to look at something and want to investigate and understand if or why it’s suspicious. This is what makes a good analyst or responder. Of course some knowledge of offensive tactics and techniques help but in my opinion, curiosity would take you just as far.

if you dont know how and why your doing splunk queries you will not pass. even tryhackme splunk rooms arent enough knowledge imo. You really need to pursue an in depth splunk course before taking this exam. take it from me. Also if you don't have any prior soc or blue team experience you will have to do extra studying outside the course material to be ready for this exam. I also feel they try to upsale you on blue team labs to practice and prepare for the exam. I feel the btl1 lacks a lot of explanation of the how and why behind it.
@DayCyberwox2 жыл бұрын
Agreed - Splunk is very important for passing the exam. However I think the statement of tryhackme Splunk rooms not being enough is not necessarily true. The BOTS datasets are very sufficient - more than sufficient as a matter of fact. Wether you use tryhackme or CyberDefenders for this doesn’t really matter. As long as you’re able to get through the datasets with or without assistance, you’ll be fine. In regards to prior experience, even though I had prior SOC experience, i still stand on the fact that you don’t need prior experience. I’ve had conversations with people without prior experience who have passed this exam successfully. In my experience people who have issues with the exams are the ones who rush it without fully digesting the material 🤷🏽♂️
@sugarskulllyfe58902 жыл бұрын
@@DayCyberwox regardless its not in the btl1 content to teach you enough splunk. tryhackme is a nice overview of the BOTS I felt BTL1 the splunk queries were way more advanced the the bots on THM. but also the THM dont necessarily why you are doing X query. on all their rooms. and it may or may not translate to the exam because of different scenarios. so you would need to know what to look for why and how
