Ramsay has helped so many restaurants with this Kitchen Nightmares series, and it always just absolutely baffles me how many of them either totally blow him off or immediately revert back to their old ways. Even after Ramsay’s changes prove to be better than the old ways. It just amazes me how stubborn and bull-headed these people can be. And as someone who’s now spent a year in the restaurant business, it’s even more baffling. Because I feel like I have a decent enough understanding of the kinds of things that need to be done, especially in the kitchen, to provide good food to customers. And some of these people who own and operate restaurants don’t have a clue.
@RealityTVRescues10 ай бұрын
I think a lot of the failed ones who go back to their old ways took his criticism personally, and as such see it as an attack on them personally, rather than their business. The mother was the worst, but the father wasn't far behind. You can't make a diagnosis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder from just seeing somebody on TV, but I saw enough that I'd be comfortable betting money on such a diagnosis. Both the mother and the father, flagrant narcissists, who feed off each other. The mother especially loves playing the role of the victim. "My heart hurt!" *Everybody in that room knew she was lying,* Gordon knew she was lying, but also knew that you don't dare call out an old woman who says her heart hurts. So he danced around it as best as he could. Then of course she didn't like the redemption burger, because she had made up her mind not to like it beforehand. Again, everybody in that room knew it, but because she's an old woman, they didn't dare call her out on it as hard as they should have. Other signs of narcissism are stealing from your son to finance your restaurant, then ignoring him. That's the dead giveaway for me that both parents are narcissists. To them, Daniel still has to be a little boy, who they can just walk all over, otherwise their world just cannot function. If you have people like this in your life, cut them out of your life, because if you do not, they will bleed you dry, emotionally, financially, whatever they can get out of you, and it will always be somebody else's fault. They can never be at fault, or else their psychological house of cards collapses.

Let's not pretend like any of us are surprised this place didn't make it. They were well beyond help long before Gordon arrived. They had issues stacked on top of issues that ran so deep, it'd give the Mariana Trench a run for its money. The father was inherently deceitful, arrogant and just a downright nasty piece of work and the mother wasn't much better. When the episode tells you they took a few hundred thousand dollars from their own son, their own flesh and blood, without his consent, you know this is place is fucked beyond repair. They were never gonna make it. They would be looking at years of intensive therapy to even get close to making it and I didn't see that happening either. More likely they parted ways on a very sour note and are living separate lives. A shared business between them, no matter what kind of business it was, was always doomed to go under.
