Bought mine last Friday, took half a dozen shots with it, went to the Speedway Saturday night. It was great in the daytime, pretty good at dusk, and I couldn't figure out a setting that worked under the lights after dark. So I figured I'd stick the ISO on Auto and see what happened. Well, what happened was that I got some of the best shots I've ever taken at the Speedway (coming from a 1Dxii and previous cameras over the last 12 or 13 seasons) and it was shooting at up to 25,600 ISO. I figured they would be rubbish when I got them downloaded, but seriously, they are as good as the 1Dxii at 6400 ISO. Really happy with the purchase, and your "Cons" fortunately don't apply to me, I only shoot stills :D Good video to watch, though, very helpful.
@conservovirtus57962 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was worried about the lower megapixel count before buying it, but it ends up working in it's favor. It's really good in low light. If you need larger images (which I haven't yet) you can upscale them. Again, if it had dual native ISO and global shutter, I think it wouldv be almost an almost perfect camera.
@ThisIsDavesGarage Жыл бұрын
It has the same sensor and processor as the 1DX MARK III with insane AF performance, what's not to like? It's still a good camera in 2023 and will be as long as you know how to use it. It's not about the gear you have.
@Threesnap2 жыл бұрын
It's a old video but 10:01 h.265 is a more effective compression for large files. It will let the files produced be way smaller especially when shooting in 4k compared to h.264 so I'm sure that's why they did it
@diversedad79542 жыл бұрын
I've had an r5 for over a year now and love it. I recently bought an r6 to replace my Sony a7iii to have a secondary camera that better compliments my R5. It's great because they shoot the same color profiles and use same lenses more natively and the r5 is great for higher resolution and r6 is a little better in low light. I think it's a great combo. Used it on my first client shoot last week and never had any overheating warnings. Even shooting longer form 2 camera interviews indoors.
@conservovirtus57962 жыл бұрын
I like mine. I was worried about the lower pixel count initially, but a video on bird photography (of all things) relieved my concerns. The images were full of detail, and the auto focus is excellent. The lower pixel count is also good in low light settings. It upscales well if you need larger images for some reason. If it had dual native ISO and global shutter it would an almost perfect camera imo.

On the r6 (and even r5), the wobble is caused mainly by the strong ibis, not so much because of its rolling shutter. It's mostly noticeable on wide angle lenses. Personally I stop seeing it at about 50mm and tighter focal lenses.

Two things about my R6, which I otherwise love: (1) no custom functions for video; and (2) IBIS just doesn't work well for video. The latter is true, though, of almost every mirrorless camera I've ever seen. For walking vlogs, I'll stick with my GoPro. Any mirrorless performs better on a gimbal. The lack of custom video settings is a pain because you have to dive into the menu to enable 120 FPS. Then you have to remember to change it back for regular video, which I hilariously forgot to do once. I say hilariously because I'm a hobbyist. If I'd made that mistake on a paid job, I wouldn't laugh about it today. For my pieces to camera when mounted on a tripod, the R6 footage looks beautiful. I edit with DaVinci Resolve. It would be nice to be able to play RAW footage SOOC but that's not a killer for me. BTW the R6 shoots great stills too, as long as you don't crop excessively.

I purchased the R6 in October of 2021. Great camera, but having to carry and change batteries 3-4 times a day is hardly what I would call "great battery life." My 6D Mark ii would go all day on one battery and still have life left. After a few frustrating weeks of changing and recharging I invested in the Battery Grip. it is overpriced, but it does the job. Mirrorless cameras in general eat batteries.

I don’t do long form video being more a landscape photog so I’ve never seen a single overheat. Rf lens choice for R7 is limited
@Chris-NZ Жыл бұрын
@@kellyvill9413 Hi Kelly , I made that comment 9 months ago , but I can say for my purposes the R7 which I did get in the end is doing well. I can use all the glass I have for my R5 and reach from 22mm to 320mm so for me it’s not restrictive. I agree the RF-S glass is a bit thin on the ground but I don’t recall there being exactly a stella selection back in my 50D days. Back in 2004 when I got my first DSLR I made a decision to only get full frame L glass which served me extremely well when in 2008 I got myself a 5Dii. I think every use-case is different but for me I definitely don’t find lens choice problematic, if however it’s your only body and you want to go wider than 22mm (which is my 14-35 on the R7) then you will be struggling for sure but you do have the tactical advantage at the long end. 😀 I find the R7 a pretty solid little performer certainly hellish better than the APSC bodies available when I moved from 30 years of film to digital !!

So, I made a huge research on you-tube and there was a lot of amazing thoughts about LUMIX GH5 ii, GH6, Canon R6 ( but expensive lenses and issues with overheating in some cases). BUT the autofocus on Lumix is very bad. Now I really don’t know what to buy. The main advantages for me in choosing are image stabilisations and very good focus. Will I have possibility to make a good focus with LUMIX while making video on very fast moving kids? I don't know. Or better to choose Canon because it is great autofocus? But you are saying about wobbling and I saw few vlogs on KZbin about the same. What do you think? Could you recommend me the best one for my purposes? Right now I do photography using Canon 5d mark iii. I have lenses like 70-200 f 2.8, 24-70 1:4, 85 mm 1.8, and 50 mm 1.8. My favorite is 70-200mm, ye it's heavy but the quality is amazing and I don't need to run after kids. I'm just sitting and use my focal length.

Depending on what you are doing, have you considered something like the DJI pocket 2? I know it’s not exactly what you were thinking but it is nice and small and though it doesn’t have a zoom, it’s got very acceptable video quality with built in gimbal. I have it and it is much more pleasant to use than a big camera. It’s also easy to travel with because of size. I have the Canon 5d Mark 4 which is very good despite some of the trashing it gets from the mirrorless crowd but these cameras as well as the R series are so heavy and cumbersome. You might wind up with better video with that DJI than the mirrorless if you consider the fact that you probably aren’t going to be using a very big gimbal on your Canon.
