@@mrk2129 Yea instead of a Tickatus which will not get played when it's hard to stay alive as it doesn't have immediate effect you just put in the deck the good 8/8 taunt +8 armor which gets pulled by voidcaller possibly early so you can stay alive till late game where you can rezz it with gul'dan and n'zoth to get even more tanky, that's the only way you gonna get away with playing a bad card like immolate lol.

The only time I’ve found immolate even “ok” is when I run it in an abyssal curse deck. You give them other hand concerns so that they either take extra damage, or lose more cards.

Yea I ran in to that deck and it actually wrecked me. Idr what deck I was running but I knew that getting a brick hand with a bunch of high cost cards was definitely gonna make my opponent happy when they hit me with a turn 3 Immolate..

Yeah the last time I got Immolated, I was 17 mana Guff and I was very confused as to why they even bothered to play it... Unless they were trying to make me dump hand? Which absolutely wasn't going to happen since only two of the cards in my hand at the time mattered but hey, whatever

@@Lucama221 Curse warlock is control paladin's worst matchup, aside from maybe boar priest. Now Cariel is not safe from immolate either, but she does nothing because they all run rustrot for this matchup. I play dragon paladin and I can get to my win condition before questline priest but curse warlock is impossible. I'd imagine it's even worse for holy paladin because mutanus ruins that deck, I used to play Vol'jin and never lost the 'mirror', but he doesn't even have the option to hit 2 with brann.

Immolate single handedly won you the first game, not only because of the shudderwock burn but also that skulking burn was insanely important, if he had been able to play it then you wouldn’t have had that massive plague of flames board clear later in the game :)

It didn't single-handedly win the game. The shamen still had the win even with the mil. By pushing the hero power button for the 50/50 board clear he gave roffle his only out.

Immolate is good in Curse Lock, the best way to play against Curses with slow decks is to keep 9 or 10 cards in hand but immolate kinda ruins that

@@krystofmares8857 I think the problem is progression. I'd love to play slow decks, but why should I? If you have a live outside of HS you cannot get into legend unless you play aggro. While you play an 21 minute control deck you could murder 7 opponents with a good aggro deck. I think what needs to be done is to make long games high risk/high reward kind of thing. Like with every 5 minutes passed you bet another star. That way a 21 minute game could reward you with 5 Stars if you win, but if you lose you lose 5 stars.

Immolate is a unique card, And can be good against certain decks, I find its good against even/odd decks that are super limited in what/how they play per turn. I will say the new dude who is the 5 mana drop who is getting flack for being millhouse 2.0 (He's the guy from the mini-set who turns all cards your opponent plays into hp instead for 1 turn I forget his name) He is wonderful, I've been playing odd-warlock, and I gotta say he is situational, but the moments I see my opponent is close to 14 or lower hp and drop him forces my oppontent to now consider each and every card they play or else it drops them so low I can kill them.

Haven't played the game for awhile, but what about an Immolock running cost-increase cards, like Watch Posts, Nerubians and Boompistol Bully? Lock down their hand so they can't play things, then set it all on fire so even when/if they do clear the board they still lose their entire hand. Or is it too slow/unreliable even with Warlock's card draw advantage? Edit: reading the comments and people are saying Immolate is Curse Warlock synergy, as it forces the opponent to empty hand so you can fill it with Abyssal Curses, which does make a lot of sense. And now I am thinking of some horrific amalgamation of Tax, Immolate and Curse warlock.

Immolate is another one of those cards that the community cry over it being OP (Classic outcry - Lady in White) because they cannot see just how bad and slow the card is. The times it actually pays off you'd be better of with another card to improve all matchups, not just the "once in a blue moon" you catch it just right and burn something critical.

thankfully immolate was only played against me when I was agro. I could imagine the guy's face when I just dumped 8 burning card onto the board as mechmage in a single turn. I can see it having value on turn 4 if the opponent has really really bad draw in the early game but otherwise it's mostly useless.

I don't know if it's all that bad in the Druid game, forcing them to use Poison Seeds on 2 minions instead of saving it for Gul'dan or N'Zoth is kind of big, since Druid has no other board clears

Just spitballing, but to make it worth playing, they could change it to burn a single random debuffed card per turn. The effect lasts until there are no debuffed cards in hand, and we ditch the 'after x turns they all burn'.

High ELO wild is not where immolate works. Most good players know how to deck build to move cards. It’s better in silver and gold where players are prone to panic and playing things out of turn at the threat of losing cards.

Is Immolate bad? Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes* I've been playing Immolate in my reno deck, it has led to some concessions, but I still don’t think it's consistently very good in those potentially relavent matchups. The card needs to be played early on to have any effect at all, and it becomes dramatically worse with every turn it's delayed, but playing it on curve it is also very likely that the opponent doesn't even have any high cost cards to get locked out of. It's a tech card that you have to play proactively, but sacrificing that tempo gives your opponent more space to play the burning cards. That being said, the card has its moments, I've seen a Warlock concede the turn after I played it, presumably I got their mechathun. It can also be good against other slow, greedy decks that would never have enough mana to play every burning card, and can remove chaf from their hand before a mutanus or dirty rat. However, in both these "good" scenarios for the card, it still had to be played on turn 3 or 4. So it's a 4 mana spell that deeply wants to be played on curve, but doesn't touch the board. But at the same time, it feels really hard to buff Immolate. Changing it to 3 mana or 2 turns would be virtually the same change, and make the card drastically better, but it's such an obnoxious card that it probably shouldn't ever be hyper efficient. Even if it were more efficient it would never be meta by nature of being a tech card, if it were too good it would just kill slow decks and incentivise more aggro meta.

Immolate kinda reminds me of like a reverse anime card of demise from yugioh. It's less pronounced since yugioh has no resources aside from card advantage but kaiba says verbatim "This lets me draw 5 cards but if I don't use em in 5 turns I lose em in 5 turns" it's like wow 5 whole turns. Better use them properly and not just hand dump at your leisure lmao.

Immolate definitely isn't amazing, but it burned 2 important cards that won you the first game (shudder and skulking for the plague of flames) and the 2nd game it forced them to play an early poison seeds which caused them to have no answer to nez. I'm not gonna argue it's an amazing card because 4 mana for no immediate value can feel bad and it does nothing against aggro, but to claim both games it did nothing just blows my mind. The value of cards being played when they normally wouldn't also isn't shown. It's weird to see Roffle ignore any value that isnt clearly and blatantly in front of him so this felt like such a weird video with his comments on immolate.

I think alot of people under appreciate the fact that immolate while not always burning cards DOES force the opponent to play cards they wanted to save, sure you didn't burn that druid's weapon but you basically did because you made them play it when they couldn't immediately destroy it, as someone who has played against immolate i can confirm the card has made me feel terrible about playing cards I wanted to save for later just to avoid wasting them entirely, its a card that helps you win in a very subtle way that most unskilled players wont catch, so it's disappointing to see a skilled veteran like roffle not see the value in what the card is doing for him

How is this a terrible card ? It immediately kills combo decks, and forces others to make suboptimal plays to dump the affected cards and they probably will still lose one or two cards. Just because a card sucks against aggro doesn't mean it sucks. The way you built your deck is basically the way to go. 28 anti-aggro cards + immolate, easy climb.

I think the flavor of the card would be lost if it didn't actually burn the cards affected. It's a very pleasing graphical effect too. Maybe if they added a self-damage effect to playing the cards? (You ARE playing with cards that are already on fire) 2 damage per card would be decent, maybe 3?

2 would keep it in line with a lot of other damage averages… but they could remove the “burn after x turns” and replace it with “deals 1 damage when played. At the end of your turn this damage increases by +1”. Still incentivized hand dumping, countered by high armor decks, or results in dead hand slots if you wait too long. (Concept as described would definitely need rebalancing though, it’s just a spitball idea.)

There's a lot of reasons to feel disappointed, even if immolate was good there. During the client crash, he missed that the druid played moonlit guidance into Mutanis, so he didn't realize the opponent couldn't double or triple C'thun. More importantly though, nothing about it felt different from every other time immolate gets played. No cards were destroyed because of immolate, the opponent simply played all of the cards that they were planning to play. We have the benefit of hindsight and cherry-picked videos to realize that this time immolate might have prevented at least 30 damage and a twig refill turn, but it's very difficult to feel any satisfaction when it looks like nothing changed, especially in an animation heavy card game like Hearthstone.

Tried it, its a great deck HOWEVER: What you're doing, priest does it 3 times better, against quest hunter, you really need to be lucky to draw otherwise you are dead by turn 6-7. I played a void caller, got malganis out of it, he killed it on the very next turn and got revarded for it, his quest was fully finished.
