I’m a Bible believing baptist and based on my study of church history, rampant heresies abound from all of these little sects that were started in America. Aka JW, church of Christ, Mormons etc.. Based on my understanding, I believe that there are tons of truly saved, born again brothers and sisters throughout all denominations, despite bad doctrine. Church of Christ included.

The problem with your conclusion is that you are accepting the teaching that denominations are not sinful. The Bible...( I Corinthians 1:10-13) clearly restricts denominations or the idea of multiple churches. The Church of Christ is not a sect/ but the Body of Christ.

Luke 16:23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’ Doesn't sound like the rich man and Lazarus were in the same place. Plus, this is a parable told by Jesus to make a point. Seems like this preacher is confusing Hell with Hades.

Sheol, Tartarus, hell, hades etc…. It seems like you’ve missed the point, and as far as men on earth and our knowledge of heavenly things, this description fits the best that I’ve heard. Note that the rich man was able to speak to Abraham through a chasm, they could not cross doesn’t seem like they were too far away from each other. What did Isaac who said his soul would go down to Sheol if he lost his other child besides, just Joseph, who he didn’t know was alive. Notice he said down. And I’m pretty sure he will eventually be going to heaven. And I will assume at my own risk that he’s in paradise currently. God also talks about not being able to hide from him and the sea Hilson leviathan and I’ll find you in the earth and hell if need be I just encourage you to read the entire Bible and I pray that God blesses you with his understanding. Hell has a duel reference: #1 Hell refers to Gahenna where two sides exist; separated by a great gulf. The name of one side is Paradise/Place of comfort and the other side is Tatarus/Place of torment. So that description of hell refers to the Hadean world...Both places are temporal in length until the final confirmation of all things... #2 Hell's second reference is Sheol/Bottomless pit where the Devil/Saten, his angels, and the unbelievers shall be cast into an everlasting flame, which burneth with fire and brimstone, where the worm dieth not, and the fire not quenched...

You have it mixed it. The word hell has 4 meanings. 1.She'ol H7585 (hell) is O.T. 2.Hades G86 (hell) is N.T. These 2 are basically the same place, "grave, pit, place of departed souls, world of the dead" 3. Tartarus G5020 (hell) is where the angels are 4. The Church of God is referred to over 15 times in the New Testament. If the Church of Christ is the only church that means everyone who goes to hell is because no one in the Church of Christ witnessed to them. I am not saying the churches that call themselves Church of Christ are bad. I am saying if they say they are the only Church then it is solely their responsibility to help people get saved. And I have yet to find a Church of Christ that has a witness program. By the way, I go to a Church of Christ and have for the past 20 years. I have Baptist friends and Pentecostal friends.Those people during the week while not in church, you hear them praising God, and telling how God has blessed them, and out of all 20 years of going to the Church of Christ, I have yet to hear any of the members even bring up God's name during the week. So we need to search for ourselves and be true to Jesus Christ and not a church.

We just traveled from the midwest from a program. We did not make up the "ONE CHURCH" Please examine: Ephesians 4:4; I Corinthians 1:10-11; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 1:20-23; Matthew 16:18. The Bible clearly teaches one church. We believe that we should teach what the Bible Teaches. Also we believe that Jesus is God. So the term Church of God is still referring to Jesus. We can not lie to people letting them know any church will do. That is false.

This is for any COC preacher, elder, or member that wants to interpret three verses, if you have the courage. These verses are: Romans 4:15, Romans 5:10, and Romans 5:13.

You have to go back to Romans Chapter 2 in order to understand these verses you picked out. You are taking them out of context. Abraham was before the Mosaic Law but he still was under the Patriarchal Law. As a matter of fact a person needs to read the story of Abraham in Genesis to get an understanding of Romans Chapter 2-5. What you are trying to say is that the Law has been done away with. If you focus on the Romans 5:10 and 5:13 then you would be correct however read on to Chapter 6. Sin still exist which means that a person will still be under a Law. Paul even says this in Chapter 6 because he talks about if we sin more then grace will abound more. He says not to. For more information read Romans Chapter 1 and the list of sins that will cause you not to make Heaven. Is this not Law? It is. And the list is not just for non-Christians but for all.

My wife and I just experienced our conversion to the church of Christ back in May. I grew up in assembly of God in Garland Texas back in the 80's and they preached faith based salvation. They succeed in misguiding me because I never listened to momma when she said to me numerous times, "son don't listen to that preacher up there, we here to worship God and read His Word" I then insisted "but momma he say we just gotta believe in Jesus' death burial and resurrection" to which momma again said "read your Bible!" I never listened, I just cherry picked verses to serve my own desire in cutting folks wrongly. I am just now reading The Divinely Inspired Scriptures from cover to cover, currently in Exodus so this lesson you presenting is new to me. Your congregation seems large from my tiny phone screen so can I ask if y'all share one cup one loaf on our Lord's Day?

I attend a “Church of Christ” but I will not condemn anyone who goes to a particular church until I see how it is organised and what it teaches. Many CoC’s lack proper organisation and doctrine and many churches with a different name have them. You judge each congregation and each person individually.

Just beginning in listening to the lesson but I would first begin with an answer of identifying the phrase 'church of Christ.' When members of the church of Christ say the church of Christ is the only church going to heaven...in their mind they are only speaking of, or should only be thinking of, just that...the church of/belonging to Christ as found in the N.T. However, what I think we fail to do is not to see the question in the manner of others because they are thinking denominationally. A 'Church of Christ' denomination. So it comes across to them as saying "My denomination is the only denomination among all other denominations that is going to heaven." No, we're saying the church of Christ...and no denomination. One is speaking and thinking Biblically...one is speaking and thinking denominationally. We talk past each other. But we do need to then ask...what is the church of Christ and how is it identified.

Interestingly enough, the Church has multiple designators such Church of God (1 Cor 1:2, 2 Cor 1:1, Gal 1), Church of the First Born, the Way, etc, Church of the Gentiles, not just Church of Christ. But the way many in the COC talk, it definitely sounds like a denomination. So i see why many outside and many in the COC feel the way they do.

The hell everyone goes to after death, Luke 16:23, is not eternal fire, it has an expiration date, Revelation 20:14. Eternal fire is just that, eternal, Jude 1:7. It will keep going on and on and on for all eternity, it will never end.

"The Only Church Going to Heaven" embodies a misconception. There are not different Churches. The NT never uses ekklesia (church) to refer to a denomination. There is only 1 Church, the Body of Christ composed of those who have trusted the Lord Jesus as Savior & thus been SPIRIT baptized into that Body. Membership in the Body & Bride of Christ (the Church) is not a matter of belonging to some earthly organization.

The spent their time preaching to the Jews only . You are saying that all those who have died before then are not saved and all Christians who do not go to your church shall not be saved. Ephesians 5:30, KJV: "For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. That's why Jesus died , we are not righteous and holy to stand before God. Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" the precious sacrifice of God makes us able to stand in the presence of God. John 3 : 16 for God so loved the world that he gave is only begotten son , that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. If you accept Jesus then your saved that's the Goodnews. In the new testament while Paul was preaching the message of grace to the gentiles ( me and you because we are not Jews) the disciples were only preaching to Jews. So if truely you think you it is a specific type of people then it's the Jews only but the Bible makes it clear that we are children of the covenant made with Isreal and in the last day the lord shall make peace with Isreal. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband Revelation 21: 2. Christianity is not a religion it is about the fellowship of God through intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Jesus died so we can have spirit of God that Adam lost in Genesis so that we be able to communicate with him anywhere and everywhere. God bless you

@Stephanie it not about a specific type a people he’s only referencIng The Church (Colossians 14-24). Ask yourself what identifies you as the church. The blood of Jesus saves so what connects to the blood of Jesus and removes sin? (1John 1:7; Acts 2:38). You can not ignore scriptures. Baptism is instruction given by God and you receive something - and your added by God to the Church (Acts 2:38, 47). The beginning of Ephesians (1:1-2) confirms who he is talking to which are saints/including the faithful which are those who obey (Ephesians 5:1) and even describes what gospel was followed and he reminds throughout the Bible (Galatians 1:6-9) what should be taught followed. Jesus died for all and saves all those who believe and obey like he states in Mark 16:16 and Matthew 28:19-20. If you believe what he says (faith) you will obey. James 2:17-20. The church is a relationship - the bride is chosen but the bride must also decide to come. That’s why he made it a comparison to marriage - will you submit. Romans 8:16 even the Holy Spirit checks your spirit to see if you are a child of God...the relationship exist in obedience.

Why be part of a church called "Saint Michael's Episcopal Church" Why be part of a church called "Saint Anselm Catholic Church" Why be part of a church called "Baptist Church" Why be part of a church called "United Methodist Church" These churches are either named after someone else other than Christ or it uses names like Methodist, which is not in the scripture. We have to stop going by what we think or feel and by what is written for that is what Christ is going to do. Revelations 20:12 "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." At least one could start their search with a church that is in the scripture: Romans 16:16 -- "Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you. "

We cannot reconcile your statement unless it changes to agree with what God’s word said. The statement you made cannot be reconciled, so it must be discarded and with it, all of the implications of the notion of such a thing of more than one body (church) existing.

Only those who are born again and have an ongoing relationship with Jesus are going to Heaven. I know several Churches of Christ people that don't even go to church nor have a relationship with Jesus but they say they were water baptized so they're saved. Nope.

The Bible is saying that the poor beggar was a righteous man. Being caught up into Abraham's bosom simply means Abraham embraced him and welcomed him into the kingdom of God. Perhaps it's best to remember the verse in Matthew that says "of all men born of women John the Baptist is the greatest, but, even the least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he". Fascinating! Also, many times Jesus says "I have not found such great faith not even in Israel". Or He reveals "Jews who say they are Jews but are not" (e.g. Christians who say they are Christians but are not), and to those souls who proclaim they know and serve Jesus well, yet, He says "go away I do not know you" Astoundingly, He denied entrance to the Marriage Supper to half of the Bride (all law keeping rather than Spirit-led churches) simply for being careless with the 'oil' they had to conserve until the Groom's return. We Christians argue about what church denomination is the right one? Who's going to Hell? Really? When our denominations are seminary and salary structured? Meaning, not biblical, but, instead worldly, to serve the needs of the fleshly rather than Spirit-led, 'and who should be, instead, operating' on the charity of their local fellowship or the largess and generosity of other Spirit-led fellowships, rather than being linked to government exemptions, whereby, the government has the right to dictate terms.... I ask this...who do you think is going to heaven? The worldly and fleshly Church Goers and Staunch Denomination Supporters who do all kinds of immoral or unethical acts behind the scenes, even if guilty only of Phariseeism, and who are weak passive shepherds or tyrannical shepherds or, conversely, rebellious or utterly disinterested sheep....OR.... The man or woman who lives in a small Voo Doo, Communist or Hindu village, who has never heard of Jesus, or so little they don't know what the fuss is about, yet, who one day stand up to their despotic village leader to protect a young girl from being raped by this 'chief' knowing full well they are likely to be killed? Who do you think fits into the culture of the Kingdom f Light? I'm not saying that knowing and believing on the name of Jesus Christ, GOD'S only begotten (not created) SON...I'm just saying neither denominational doctrines, nor even good works (to gain favor or status, wealth or fame, save a soul... God's plan of salvation is finished. No human shall ear the penalty of rebellion since the death and resurrection of Jesus...but, those in the know can neglect such a salvation by either excessive Worldliness or Fleshliness, or by condemning those who don't know Jesus (yet) or those who don't know Him well. Also, keep in mind also that any soul can be a member of the.Bride of Christ, as it requires only interest and a degree of obedience,but, only GOD "births" a soul into the Body of Christ, before the return of Jesus. Only GOD. We humans can choose to be part of the Bride, but, we can't choose to be born again...that's GOD'S work, not ours. Lastly, if you want to actually meet Jesus I recommend you get to the point when you truly believe life is not worth living unless Jesus is truly Who He says He is. That kind of trust and commitment will most certainly get his attention.

I heard a church of Christ elder say he doesn’t believe the gospel. 1 Corinthians Chapter 15 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Do you believe the gospel?
