Is there going to be a large jump in the salary cap in a few years time ? Perhaps with increased tv rights etc. therefore lock these players in and and then have more money to splash around if it does go up substantially

Salary cap increases are already locked in and scheduled to be phased in over the coming years as per the latest CBA. An additional $400k in 2025 and $250k in both 2026 and 2027.

Who knows how much of an AFL career Oliver has remaining? With all of his alleged issues, there is no guarantee he will still be playing in a few years time. For that reason he'd have to have rocks in his head if he agreed to a significant pay cut. The same should apply for Melbourne if they agreed to continue to pay a significant part of his salary to play elsewhere.

Actually kane is the true owner of all 18 clubs and they do actually care about what he says. He is playing both sides by pretending to hold this opinion against long term contracts, but really he is the one making them behind closed doors and signing all of these players to long term deals while taking a massive percentage for himself and is secretly building his wealth to soon take over the global media and entertainment industry and become the new P. Those who talk too much often repeat themselves and sound like they're trying to convince themselves of their points. Kane made great points about Balta but doesn't need to repeat and repeat his justifications. State your case and move on. In the end I didn't get to hear Sam's list which I thought would also have been interesting.

Any club that finds themselves in that position has a lot to be criticized for... obviously 3 flags in 4 years more than makes up for it though but the media have to talk about someone.
