This is the kind of video we need reviewing the OP3. It’s frustrating trying to look into using it as a talking head cam when stupid KZbinrs review it using a $6000 camera rig and never show what the OP3 looks like as a talking head cam. Thanks for this vid. It helped me make the right decision on what camera to buy.

So glad you made this video. I'm the guy from Charleston, SC who talked to you about Lewis BBQ and also the Sony ZV-1 that I bought because of you. If you remember, I commented on how much better the ZV-E1 looked because of the full frame but I saw your footage with this DJ Osmo Pocket 3 recently and thought that looks even better than my ZV-1. But the moment this video started I doubted your ability to light a shot. Thinking this was the FX3, I instantly thought it looked terrible compared to your other videos. So glad you were trying to fool us (I kind of figured it) because now I know I should NOT buy the DJ Osmo Pocket 3 for my talking heads as it clearly (to me) looks worse than my ZV-1 and if I actually want to upgrade I need a full frame camera because I can clearly see the difference. Sorry. This is NOT good enough to me. Glad to see that it's not your FX3 though. All the best. XOXO

Hey Kenny, cheers :) - the ZV-1 is still a beast and provides a superb image. But depending on what you're doing, you'd potentially get more bang for buck (stabilization, 4K 120 etc) from the Osmo Pocket 3. But again, all dependend on what you need

@@VicBarry Yeah. I'm just doing talking heads so I don't think it's for me. It just goes to show how much I need to learn about this stuff. Context matters. The outside footage you've done looks like a cinematic movie but this inside talking head stuff doesn't cut it to me. But I appreciate everything you're doing. And you're right. It is good enough but some of us do enjoy the final look even if it's just a talking head. Keep doing what you do. It's very appreciated. XOXO

Another trick is to zoom in a bit and place the pocket 3 a bit further away for talking heads video. Wish it came with a telephoto converter lens for this haha.

Yes it is, and it's class! Brought it with me to Portugal 2 weeks ago, delighted with the results even in just plain old auto mode. I'm not completely comfortable yet with editing via D-LOG/ LUM so even out of the box it is unbelievable.

Definitely good enough, my last KZbin video was shot with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and it came out fine for what I need.

I hope DJI put this sensor in the Action 5. Or even better give us a point and shoot like the zv1 with this sensor. That would be a great talking head camera. No need for the gimbal and the sensitivity to damage it introduces. Great video. Always enjoy your stuff.

I owned an FX3, bought it as soon as the camera hit the market, primarily for my wife's you tube channel and secondly because I'm a gearhead that had a serious case of G.A.S. at the time as it was too much camera for what she did. Shortly after buying it two things happened, we went into lockdown and she lost interest in her channel so it collected dust. I reluctantly sold it (for a small loss) and regretted it ever since. Well the wife is again interested in reviving her you tube "career" and I told her; 1. I am not investing in another camera 2. I suggested that SHE purchase Osmo 3 or use her phone camera (she opted for the Osmo). I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes. Clearly the audio is going to be a problem based on this video. I knew you were shooting on the Osmo and not the FX3 because of the quality but for talking head and light vlogging I'm sure it's more than enough.

Hey. Fellow G.A.S. sufferer here 😀 it’s absolutely more than enough. To be honest a few years back people were making KZbin videos with potatoes and the content was still good. It’ll never replace the FX3 but it now means it’s a lot easier to grab something short and sweet when out and about.

Yes, dji pocket 3 is awesome, but also yeah, I knew from first second. I also am the owner of FX3 :) i use zeiss 1.4 50mm planar and zeiss 25mm f2

I had a feeling fromt he start you weren't using the fx, Image quality isn't as sharp on the osmo, but only slightly. I will still purchase the osmo, perfect for run n gun and B roll. Good video Vic

Could tell this wasn't the FX3 right away, what happened with the highlights on the OSMO, seems really dim - was your face overexposed in camera or just a lighting issue?

Great video. It’s crazy what the Pocket 3 can do. It’s so damn practical and convenient. That said, what are you using to capture audio?

The DJI OSMO Pocket 3 is a step up in all aspects, except one area I think DJI could have improved the overall performance - The Lens. I own the original OSMO Pocket camera as well, and I think the image detail and contrast of that lens looks a little better IMHO, than the lens of the Pocket 3. There is a slight bit of barrel distortion visible toward the two lower left and right edges of the image frame. Now, most people will not notice this, and this image artifact is not visible in all shooting situations, but in urban landscapes, where you are dealing with man made straight lines and 90 degree angles, then building will be seen to slightly lean in on the very outer edges of the frame (Barrel distortion). Now this is no biggie, as it is not pronounced, and there are several image adjustment filters, which can correct this in post. Davinci Resolve has a good built in filter for this. You would never see this image distortion in talking head interviews, providing you don't put your OSMO Pocket 3 too close to the subject, but it's subtle, and it's there.

Answer: Kinda, but ZV-E1 is way better as it should be at 5x the price :) - btw, yes, I did know it was the pocket3 filming, there is definitely a major drop in quality vs full frame, to my eye anyway. It may not matter depending on what you're filming though, it's good enough...

Hi ,Appreciation for your work. Can you tell model number of light which you used as your key light, fill light , back light? I am using Godox SL 200 III as Key Light, Godox SL 150 III as fill light and Godox TL60w as back light?

Oh yes, OP3 is a nice little game changer. It does not exchange for huge productions. But for Vlogger and as here the talking hats it is a very good solution. And maybe for some a cheeper entry into vlogging ;-)
