Good explanation, informative, nicely paced. Makes good use of KZbin watching time (except for the very beginning and end, which can be ignored.)

Sounds a lot like the college loan situation as well. Subsidized loans will almost always drive up costs.

@@Hayden21381 The problem with Koch thugs is that they are ideologues. Their stand on this issue (ExIm bank) is quite illustrative. EXIM doesn't lose it's money. It actually makes a surplus that goes to the treasury. Meanwhile, it eases exports of USA greatly. The beneficiaries are mostly small and midsize businesses. In dollar volume, yes, a big company like Boeing take the plurality of funding but it also employees hundreds of thousands. ExIm provide lines of credits, working capital loans ..etc. but hey, Kochs don't like to see a government succeeding in helping people. So they oppose it. The arguments in this video are laughable.

I followed and agreed with all the but last point. How is a company deemed too high risk for any existing regular bank in worse shape after defaulting on an ExIm loan? If a company defaults/fails at least it got the money to start and all the people who worked there got paid and the owners got millions..so how are they in worse shape? The military does it with ISIS by leaving billions worth of tanks to Iraq..then Iraq abandoning(hey we're Sunni too, and we love you) to ISIS, except ISIS doesn't have to pay us back, it was all a FGTFIU (Federal Grant To Fund ISIS Unintentionally)

Any idea what the default rate on these loans are? How much in losses have taxpayers had to cover?

How much would you pay for a put on the loans they provide? What is the volatility at the time? What is the time value of money when the loan was issued? What was the interest in the market? What was the interest rate given for the loan? Does the loss of revenue from lower interest rates count towards the funds the taxpayer has to cover? Where was the source of the money taken from in the market? What is the opportunity cost for said funds? Are these opportunity costs part of the losses you ask the taxpayer to cover? What if the opportunity cost is the cure for cancer how are you going to measure this cost? Will you count this as a loss to the taxpayer?

The default rate on the loans and guarantees is minuscule -- smaller than the rate of default for most commercial banks. This analysis does not use any hard numbers because the hard numbers would undermine the false narrative being painted here.

What amazes me is how this guy cherry picks some minor points in history and then attempts to generalize overall impacts on the economy. Very poorly done.

Exactly. From a US perspective, who cares if small foreign buyers are hurt by that a big foreign buyer is buying the American planes they want to buy? All we should care about is selling those planes and goods abroad. Also domestic buyers are not hurt. The risk related to exporting doesn't exist. They can just buy it and have it delivered. The problem with Koch thugs (funders of this channel) is that they are ideologues. Their stand on this issue (ExIm bank) is quite illustrative. EXIM doesn't lose it's money. It actually makes a surplus that goes to the treasury. Meanwhile, it eases exports of USA greatly. The beneficiaries are mostly small and midsize businesses. I agree with you. I am in the process of trying to work with them. There’s nothing detailed in this video that we in business don’t already know and ready to take on. Very poorly done
