I'm thinking of getting a Ferrari sticker for my Formula V2.5. But can't bring myself to put anything over the carbon fiber.

@@jameslsimsports8514 I bought the Formula 1 fiber sticker for my V2.5, but only used the part of the sticker around the rotary encoders and the upper buttons, leaving most of the carbon fiber uncovered. I think it looks pretty good!

I got the exact same setup, it tooks me around 30 minutes for the shifter installation and the stickers.

Hi. Have 2 of them. One is "tuned". Love it, but it's plastic and "loud". But for that price it is worth. 👍

Yeah the plastic is the only drawback. I did a mod to quiet the original shifters with a couple pieces of styrofoam. As I like doing mods I figured why not go all the way.

Have also the magnet-shifter. Also with these lovely stickers. The wheel itself is plastic and sounds sometimes like plastic by steering, moving .. But it's okay for me. 😘👍👋🇨🇭

With the metal QR and the Simmakerz shifter I feels more medium. Even it's still plastic.

I wish you can add “rumble motors” to the left and right grips, I got used to the vibration in all my Fanatec wheels.

Yeah I know! This is why I always use my 2.5. Love the vibration it brings the wheel alive. Not sure I could get used to a wheel without vibration

Hey James, I also have SimMakerz paddle and I really enjoy it as compared to stock. Question = my left shifter is missing shift once in awhile, noticed it more lately. Have you experienced any missed shifts on your SimMakerz paddle? I had mine for 7 months. Just curious whether I got unlucky with bad batch or seeing wear and tear earlier. I'm an average user, not heavy user. Thanks!

Hey, i don't recall missing any shifts at all. But it could also be the car you're using. Keep in mind some car need to lower to a certain RPM before the downshift will trigger. Or else you'll shift but the gear won't actuallg change. This could be very well what's happening. You could try doing a test just in low rev going up and down the gears quickly. If no problems there, the issue is probably the car RPM threshold for down shifting.

I'm fairly sure it's the paddle, or small possibility of V2 wheel itself. I'm supposed to get replacement left shifter, so I'll be able to help confirm. Thanks again.

It's a great wheel for the price but it's still just plastic, you put whatever stickers you want on it but it's going to loose a fair bit of detail through the ffb. I owned it then bought the F1 and it's a massive difference in my opinion. Great wheel but it has its limitations feeling wise

That's exactly it. I ended up selling it on marketplace. Got a good price for it with all the upgraded. But like you said, in the end it's just plastic and missing some of the rigidness and ff that I feel from my V2.5. I just found I was using the V2.5 all the time.

@@jameslsimsports8514 it felt like my wheelbase came alive when I switched out the Mclaren and put the F1 wheel on, it's a really massive difference and like you I just never put the Mclaren back on so I sold it. I have since upgraded to a Cube Controls GT3 Zero wheel which I like due to it being a bit wider than the F1 wheel and I do more GT3 racing these days. I got a converter which allows it to be used on the DD1/2 👍

@Chris Perry yeah the 2.5 just feels better with the carbon fiber. Can't compare. I also felt it was small for GT3 so I put some Pineaplle chunky grips on it. Works pretty well now. Honestly though I'd like to switch to a new eco system. Thinking Simaigc or Moza. I like the Simagic wheel options.

The issue I have with this is ur at v2.5 wheel price. Which is a lot higher quality and has vibration motors. This is the hard decision I’m having.

Well, fast forward since this video was made. I ended up selling the McLaren V2 wheel. It's still an awesome replica, but even with the upgrades, it's plastic in the end and not metal or carbon fiber. I'd definitely go for the V.2.5. I added some pineapple grips to mine so it's bigger and works great for GT3 as well.

@David Cupra the grips themselves are fine. It's more the width of 270mm makes your arms closer to together and it's not so comfortable for longer races or GT3. I'd say the originsal defsult wheel is good for formula style but not much else.

Thanks man. Nope, that would require much more engineering. Probably another chip, LED's and such. I would check out the Moza GT style wheel. Basically same price after all the mods and quick release.

It's very simple. Just take your time and you can reapply it if you mess up in sections.

I contacted Lovely Stickers and they said you can use a soap and water mixture to “float” the sticker while you position it. Once positioned just squeegee out the excess. Just be careful not to get any water on the electronics.
