Our winter water supply is running VERY low!! Making sure our girls have water for the long winter months is nimber one on our fall to do list!!

Hi Taylor: Water from that lake looks pretty gross. It would set Brent back about $1,500 to $2,000 for a 2000 gallon plastic upright water tank that could be stored in a separate insulated room. With an installed 5 micron water filter, you would eliminate basic sediment and some chemicals. Or you could use better filters that would capture undesirable chemicals. Also collecting water year round from your roof gutters to a tank would help. A County Agent could test the quality of the water.

Water pumps are so much fun to get pumping. The little black screw cap is to prim the pump. Pour a gallon or two of water in it tighten the cap and hopefully it takes off easier.

Taylor, the black cap on top of the pump is for pouring water into the pump to prime it before starting Otherwise you may not get (Draft) Sucking of water from the pond into the pump and if you do it correctly you should get pump pressure right away, I know this because I was a Firefighter and was taught how to Draft water NOW. About the Cranberries, yes I believe you could have Cranberries and also Blueberries two fruits that are known to be grown in Maine along with Potatoes I never realized how busy schedule you have everyday you must be exhausted at the end of each day❤😊

Ah the joys of portable pumps... my fire dept had a bunch for pumping basements, and they could be...challenging. gotta love it when a sewer line backs up into someone's cellar. It smells beautiful in here!

@@tayfarms yup. Domestic water problems were our least favorite calls. Nothing like a cellar full of waterlogged stuff, inches- or feet- of water, and if we were lucky. " brown trout" floating around. When 911 couldn't figure out who else to call, they call the fire dept.

The lake could very well have cranberries. We have some little lakes and the cranberries grow along the edge of the lake and in the boggy areas. In fact, now would be the best time to find the berries. :)

@@tayfarms I guess pictures probably won't work on youtube, but the berries would be right along the edge of the water, almost hidden within the other plants. Also, if there is a floating bog, sometimes you can find berries on or in the mossy bog material.

What state is the farm in? Milestone is very effective to control Canada Thistles. I have eliminated the Canada Thistles on my farm with Milestone. They do pop up from blown in seed, but easy to control, just have to be vigilant.

Is your dairy a completely grass fed operation?

We are not labeled as one, although the only grain product we feed our cows is a blend of cornmeal and minerals. No corn silage and no pelleted grain. Thanks for watching!
