They actually have something kinda like that where when the drg does an elusive jump they roll a d20 and on a 1 it's the GM who gets to pick where they end up...

I actually homebrew my pathfinder 2ed to accommodate ff14 enjoyers with archetypes that co insides their existing classes that adds customized feats just for their classes.

That's awesome! 💜I played a bit of Pathfinder 2nd Ed. so I get what you're saying. It's great when DMs are able to accommodate their players like that!

I've not played many TTRPGs (mostly just 2 campains of DnD 5e both we never finished) but as a fan of FF and FF14 I decided to pick up this game so I could play it with some friends who also like the game and have played TTRPGs before (most of them much more than I have). However for whatever reason the delivery time is extremely long on this. I ordered the starter pack when preorders were up around 4 months ago and still haven't received it and many people already reported only gettinf it a month or two after the expected delivery date. So I wouldn't recommend planning sessions based on estimated delivery dates etc. and only start planning stuff when it actually arrives.

That is a really good point! We put our name on one as soon as it launched for pre-order the first time. It took a few months, but that was expected so I didn't think twice about it. The fact that it is still such a wait to get hands on it is really unfortunate. Thank you for sharing!

I get a feeling from this similar to some of the wilder fighting games I play. It's a low investment way to just slap buttons, or in this case roll dice, and see what happens. Putting too much into the base game will leave you disappointed though

Interesting comparison! Thank you for sharing! I'm sure it's exciting for people who haven't played similar tt games, but, to someone who knows what other games are out there, it's definitely underwhelming.

I plan to wait until some more people got reviews for the finished system. While it has some good ideas, I am not convinced yet. And if Square doesn't offer a pdf I'll be out anyway.

My wife and some friends are FFXIV players (we all raid together regularly) and I want to introduce them to some TTRPG as they have never even played D&D before. Would you recommend this for total beginners? I myself am a semi-experienced DM and have played many systems so I am used to learning new rule sets and teaching them quickly. From the video it seems like the DM experience isn't particularly great, but that isn't really an issue for me. How does the homebrew module compare? I already have all of the stuff required to play 5e, took a glance at the PDF and it looks like it integrates well into the game. Apologies for all the questions, and thanks for your time

Sorry for the late reply - I've been in poor health lately! I'd definitely recommend the FFXIV TTRPG for players new to roleplaying. It introduces using hex maps, character tokens, and basic (D20/D6) dice rolling - and allows them to RP as much or as little as they'd like. In comparison, the Homebrew module assumes that the players have a 5th ed Players Handbook and are comfortable playing the game - but it's way more customizable, and players get to choose from some really cool racial and class traits, so it feels like a much more immersive and complete experience. I hope this answers some of your questions!

I've tried the homebrew 5e game, but it’s held back by all of the flaws of 5e. I've found Genesys RPG is better for getting the feel of FF.
@gamer_debbie2 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing! I haven't tried Genesys, but we did playtest D&D 5th ed and Pathfinder 2.0 at about the same time and I do prefer 5th ed. That being said, personally, my favourite will always be 3.0 or 3.5th ed... Though I wonder if maybe that's because I still have almost 100 of the books for it. 🙊

@@gamer_debbie Genesys is more about narration than crunch, but it's built to work with any setting. I made a Google doc with the FF 11 classes and spells using it.

Hi , where did you get the homebrew for ffxiv? And what is genesys?

@@elrickyoficial6198 Genesys RPG is a narrative dice game based on the Star Wars RPG by Fantasy Flight Games and is now owned by Edge Studios. It has rules for running any setting and is easy to customize and homebrew.

Ill just say normal D&D healers can't out heal the incoming damage i hope they fixed this problem in this ttrpg
@gamer_debbie2 ай бұрын
We did not encounter any problems with healing in the FFXIV TTRPG. Tanks have their heals, and the dragoon also had Second wind as well when needed. There are also health potions available. I think during the level 30 encounter, our Tank went down to 2 HP, which was a bit scary - but the WHM was able to fix it before the next round. I hope our experience is the norm!
@theclash2418 күн бұрын
What I've seen thus far is tanks and dps trigger their primary or secondary and their effects will auto work...tank may do a little damage and stack Enmity. You will also roll a HIT dice after to stack more damage or effects. The healers actually do similar as well. Not only that the white mage auto stacks a DoT on targets, I believe a DoT3 and it's just as simple as being in range and spending MP. So the healer is doing something and healing. So it seems damage is massive and enemy health is a little higher but when you fight it feels nice as it feels even if you miss your main roll your primary and secondary still do something...so it seems to fix that ...lame d20 dnd archaic...wait 10 minutes roll 1 dice and miss and wait 10 minutes for your next turn just to miss again. At least you are doing something even on a miss.
