They should have a free casual player "demo" where people can enter the world for free as a character without firearms (not even a scav) looking for water. They can bring more chaos to the games of players who bought the game and who allow casual players to join their game.

Not sure about the location awareness feature. It doesn't really make sense for some unaffiliated scavenger to become targeted enemy #1 when they're not part of that faction's enemy. They'd be worth spraying a couple rounds at to get rid of, but not hunting down from all over the map.

The reason this filthy casual quit Tarkov was actually not getting wrecked by chads, it was the fact that it took almost 10 minutes to get back into a game after you died. Once counted like 15 minutes of actual play time over the course of a real life hour. Dark and Darker, on the other hand, gets you in another game instantaneously.

I don't think it's gonna be casual enough, but I don't think it needs to be. Success is relative and dependent on the dev's goals. Not every game needs 100k+ players to be very successful.

@LockDOTspot3 ай бұрын
@AnonymousOtters it's not live service.
@AnonymousOtters3 ай бұрын
@@LockDOTspot Maybe the wrong term, but the point is true regardless. You have to have enough players to have an active player pool and at a minimum fund the game. Misplaced hardcore mechanics like realtime progress loss on the water system is going to lead to this stalling in early access due to lack of funds or lack of players. There are plenty of ways to implement game difficulty and mechanics to make it hardcore in-game without being disrespectful to people's lives when they need to do other things out of game
@LockDOTspot3 ай бұрын
@AnonymousOtters a lot of people are excited about this game. After watching some gameplay myself, it did seem pretty hardcore, and unforgiving, but the atmosphere is great. Once the game releases I'll let the hardcore gamers play it, and decide from there, but the hype isn't dead or anything.
@beprf3 ай бұрын
@@AnonymousOtters my point is that "enough" is relative. We don't know how much they invested. It's a small dev team of 30 people. It's not a live device. Also, it's peer to peer connection, so they won't be spending money on servers. And no, they technically don't even need an active player pool, they stated in the announcement video that they're making the game playable solo and locally so that even if the game fails, the game is playable for anyone that invests in it.

Game concept looks amazing, and is 99% what I want except the harcore mechanics like water loss while out of game. Those mechanics are just plain poorly designed. Its totally fine for the game to be hard, but it will fail if you alienate a massive amount of potential players base over it forcing you to regularly play to avoid progress loss.

Trying to balance a game for casuals will never work, just look at tarkov, if you make it easier for casuals you end up making it easier for no life tarkov grinders too and it's a never ending cycle. If I were a game dev I would make a hardcore game and balance it with no life gamers in mind, if you have a 9-5 job it's your life I should not care so much about it to balance my game's progression around you. That would result in either a game with not enough casual player base and have a small total players, or the game is too good and people play regardless like rust and tarkov.

@@The_Egg_Studio having to feed a reset timer isn’t worrying about supplies it’s just tedious. Also if it’s so easy to immediately fill up the water tank then why have water death? @@rapidresponseteam6048 the water mechanic is a part of other things you unlock parts of the innards the more water you have the more water you have the more people you attract.
