My father have this camera for years and considers this as his favorite. Before he passed away last year, his last words for me was to take care of his cameras. Been using this since then and now i know why this is his favorite, it really is a great camera and the results are really superb.

I sold my X100S five years ago and got an XT10 then an XT4 and have just bought another X100S - for twice what I sold mine for 🤦🏻‍♂️. Such a good camera - easy to carry, no faff. Great video btw!

@@thefilmdaddy Yes! In the end, I sold the X100S again (for the same as I paid for it). While I love the pictures and how portable it is, it was obvious that I got better pictures, faster camera response and nicer photo taking experience from the XT4. And I realised that it wasn't that much harder to carry the slightly bigger camera. Fujifilm all the way though!

I use a X100F. Got it to shoot street content, and for just general purpose photography on the daily. I now use it for all my client projects and basically anything and everything, from shooting warehouses, to portraits. Fuji seconded a revolution with this tiny pocket sized camera, and i just dont find that joy and convenience of shooting on anything else at all. Also, Subscribed :) Because seeing you talking about photography, would be something i'd like to see everytime :)

I usually use a Canon R5, and I love it to bits. BUT It can be intimidating in social situations. Not just when I take pics, but if I offer it up as a "communal" camera for people to pick up and enjoy. Nobody dares, because they don't want to break thousands of moneys. So, I'm getting this camera second-hand. Looking forward to receiving it in the mail next week! This video helped me make that decision, so thank you!

I bought mine I think in 2014 and used it a lot back then for street photography. Haven't used it for ages since nowadays I use mostly my Canon 5D mark IV and other DSLRs. But the Fuji X100s is the camera that has been and still is the camera I mostly love to use. I love the classic retro style feel and it is a camera that I will always want to take in my hands and go shooting unlike the DSLRs.

nice video, I also have this camera since 2013. Recently started using it more again and absolutely love it. Very surprised by your remark about the battery though, as that is my main frustration with this camera. I have 3 batteries and most of the time can't get through one day with them. Maybe time to invest in a new (original) battery :)

Many people have said the same thing to me about the battery, which is so strange to me. I only have to charge it every other day and I shoot with it literally almost every day recently. I will have to follow up with a short on the battery life test. But maybe try get an original battery, I still have my OG one from the original purchase.

hope you're still using it. I noticed my X100S is showing an exposure i am intending to take but the final jpeg/raw is a bit over exposed. Don't think its SAB because i have checked the aperture at all stops. Exp/preview in manual mode is also ON. My other X100 finepix, X100T and X100zf don't do this.

Hello all, I found someone locally where I live on fb marketplace selling this camera for $600 stating "Mint condition X100s with original box and manuals." Honestly speaking I'm new to this, its a hobby and I'm no way near a pro and I'm still learning. Is this worth a buy? I do have an old DSLR Nikon D3400 with a 50mm 1.8 and an 85mm 1.8 (which I love!) as well as the two out of the box stock lenses. I'm all ears and open to advice. Thanks!

I haven't seen the camera, but I would say go with your gut. I love this camera, I've had a great time using it. It's more for life, travel, street, and documentary. It's a fixed lens, so that's something to consider, and it's wider than both 50 and 85. If this sounds like something you'd enjoy and you've got the money I would say go for it.

Thanks for this. I've had this camera since it came out and love it as well. Question about the film simulations: I've used Nik Collection software on Photoshop since even before I bought this camera. It's got dozens upon dozens of film simulations. I've always wondered why I'd need to shoot using the "in camera" sims when I can just shoot a RAW file and then use any sim I want? Why and how do photographers (who have Nik, DxO, Adobe Camera RAW, Lightroom) use these simulations? Thanks!
@thefilmdaddy
@thefilmdaddy 2 жыл бұрын
I think people use the sims as a simple way to emulate old films (without the pain of editing them) and because they don't mind shooting in JPEG. I shoot RAW myself and edit all my shots the way I like them, but I have honestly always wanted to experiment more with simulations.

You can! There's a conversion you can do in camera, but you have to shoot in RAW. You can even set the RAW files to have a black-and-white filter so that when you shoot it shows you in black and white, but when you import the raw files they are still colour.

Do the Fuji (or mirrorless in general) need to be focus adjusted from time to time? It's the only downside I face with the Canon 5d classic. Both of the ones I have back focus and it's hard for me to justify sending it away to correct both the house and lenses. It's a risk and it's costly.

That's a great question. It would depend on a lot of variables, but you can get a new one from Fuji for $900. Or you could go to eBay for prices between $500-800. If it's in great condition and $700 It's already half the price of the X100V.
