Hey Jorge, absolutely agree! As always, very well explained, no fuss, straight to the point. Very much like your style! - I shoot the X100T since 2015. - got an X-Pro1 early this year. Even though I like it a lot, ergonomics, image quality etc. I started to try different lenses, which is fun of course, bought a small backpack to carry everything with me….after a while I realised that I really miss the simplicity of the X100T! I am not a paid photographer, I am just an amateur that loves to capture images, mostly memories, emotions etc, documenting life basically. Can‘t even say that 23mm (35mm ff) is my preferred focal lenght, but it is a joy to use the X100T everyday and tbh, I make the 23mm work! I rather have the X100T with me and not frame a picture perfectly, then having a few lenses, backpack etc…you might not take the shot at all. Thanks for your videos, enjoy them a lot. Cheers from Switzerland

That's great to hear Michel, Thanks for sharing a bit about your experiences! Similar thoughts here, I've been using the X-Pro1 quite a bit lately since I recently reviewed it, made a settings video, and now working on a 5 reasons video, It's a great camera and in some aspects I consider it to be better than the x100 series. However there's some magic to the x100's, beauty in simplicity, ergonomics, easy of use too. My first camera ever was the x100t, and it felt like discovering fire to be honest haha. Glad to hear people still use these cameras and enjoy using them as well. Thanks a lot for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts as well, I really appreciate it! 🙏🏼✨

@@Jorge-Perez thanks for your reply! Only thing I was considering lately was an upgrade to a used ‚F‘ (there is one locally for ca 500$ in mint condition) and if a good used deal comes up to a ‚V‘. But tbh I am not sure it is worth to upgrade, at least to the ‚F‘? As you had the T, the F and I believe the V (or at least tested it) what is your take? Cheers Mitch Ps: just realised you posted an X100V review. Will check that out.

So do I. Just an avid amateur. I love the 35mm focal length - 90% of my pictures are being made with that focal length on FF digital, or via Film analog. Some might prefer 28mm, like onto the Leica Q(Q2) series....but for myself, it's too wide. When i need it a wideangle during landscape photography, it's mostly usually a 24mm lens via fullframe or Film SLR. Greetings from Germany.

Thanks for making this video. Watching it is enjoyable and has motivated me to get out my old camera. I bought an X100 when they first came out and I liked it so much I purchased an X100S when it was released. Then health issues and age conspired against me, and I stopped taking pictures. Your videos, and others, are rekindling the fire. The other day I charged a battery and put it in the camera, which had been stored carefully for a very long time. I think it is working but I am not sure if things are not working or I simply forgot how to operate the camera. The X100S is a great camera, but I would like to buy an X100V if they ever become available. I have heard rumors there may be a replacement for it. We shall see. Thanks again for the great videos.

I got a used X100 about a year after it came out. Just love the looks and the way it operated. I also loved the pics and colours I got out of the camera. I then traded up for the X100S. Somehow I thought the pics are not as nice as before. After a while I traded that for the X100F. Again I wasn't so happy with the higher resolution sensor as I was with the original 12.3MP X100. After a while I sold the 100F and got myself a X-Pro2. The original X100 was slow, quirky and the AF was hit and miss at times. But I still think the X Trans 1 sensor is the best Fuji ever produced. My humble view anyway.
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, although the X-E1 & X-pro1 are a little slow, the colours are great, it's the limited dynamic range and how that affects the highlights that make it look more natural or realistic. The X100 has a different sensor, pre- x-trans, but you can still tell the difference and it looks great in my opinion as well. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share a comment! Cheers 😁🙌🏼

Hey Jorge, I've basically never shot with digital apart from my phone so I was looking for a digital that would have some of the characteristics that I love about my film cameras. This video really helped in making that decision so thank you for that! My x100 should be arriving today or tomorrow and I can't wait

Very exciting! I think early digital cameras have a lot of the "film" characteristics and aesthetics as well, not sure if it's intentional or just the limitation of the technology at that time. For people like us, this is a great thing. I think it will help make your transition smoother and more pleasant! The most common complaint is speed, but if you're coming from shooting on film, then basically that will not be an issue for you. This "top 5" video is a summary of my full camera review, and I also have a setup video for when you receive the camera and want to tweak the settings! Thank you so much for watching, and taking the time to share a kind comment as well, I hope these videos can help you and offer value to your life! @@Jorge-Perez Well it basically just completely took over and I've been using it for everything ever since I got it. I absolutely love it. I don't find it too slow and love the images I get with it. It's so lightweight, compact and easy to bring with me anywhere. My poor film cameras have been properly neglected haha. I took it travelling with me a couple months ago around Europe and it never skipped a beat. I've got three batteries and one battery easily lasts a full day and I use the EVF 100% of the time. Couldn't be happier with my purchase but I think one day I'll get one of the newer X100's :)

Interesting, the x-e2 seems fairly small too, maybe the full size depends on the lens? what lens do you normally shoot with? The x-e2 might give you a bit more versatility because of interchangeable lenses, but once you try the x100 series, it will most likely become your every day carry haha. Portability, size and great image quality. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts as well, I appreciate it John 🙌🏼✨

Great job Jorge….as always. If you had to choose between x100 and x100s, both for a similar price and mint condition, which one would you buy? Does SAB affect both models?
@Jorge-Perez

Both! haha, The reason why I chose to test and review the x100 was that it was the first camera and the cheapest on the online used marketplace. If you can get a newer model for the same prince, or very very close, then I'd recommend doing that. I have not heard of the later models having the same SAB issue, so I think it should be fine, ideally, you can test it and make sure it works, or get it from an online reputable seller. Me too. Tried the X100S, X100T. But love the original X100 (LE) There's something special sauce from the original X100. It behaves almost like a film Rangefinder, minus the rangefinder patch of course - but the OVF with LCD info overlay is extraordinary. Technically, the X100V is the best of all current iterations - but part of the fun (if not all) is like the X100 original does look and simply works. For the same reasons, i like to shoot my old CCD DSLRs, it's high iso range looks like film grain, mostly. And the colors...so much less post-processing time, which i general don't like much. Besides the X100, it's my only non X-Trans Sensor camera from Fuji, ordinary using the E1/E2 & T1 otherwise....well, at least occasionally, when not shooting Film.
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! The feel of the camera and how you shoot really matters, and the x100 offers a different type of experience for sure. The X100V is too clean at times, not sure if that makes sense but that is how I feel about it. If I were do to another year abroad and could only pick one, I would choose the X100V 📸 But now that I'm back home and have time to experience and want to have fun, the x100 and X-pro1 are my most common picks! 😁

@@Jorge-Perez Jorge, I appreciate your comments! The Fujifilm X-E1 is really TREATING me with fantastic images. It’s a real treat to shoot with. It’s the first time when I really embraced the full manual exposure mode. It renders not only the colours beautifully but also the texture of the image. It’s just different, pleasant and really film like (however nothing will compare to film:) Also ergonomically it’s so comfortable for me that really before leaving the house I make sure my camera is with me. Just to compare - literally yesterday I had to shoot for a client and I had to go back to my Sony a6500… it’s also APS-C, compact body. However I was so unhappy before, during and after the shoot. Skin colours are terrible, the overall look is just not nice. Camera gear does matter :)

hey Jorge ! I've been an X-T1 user for about a year now, and I really like this camera. How ever, it is a bit bulky to carry in the streets, and since I live in a city where the crime rate is rather high (at least compared to other European cities), it's not always a good idea to appear with a big camera in your hands, especially if you're alone. That's why I've been searching for a secondary, smaller camera that would be less visible. my two last contendants are the original X100 and the X-E2. both are listed are around 250€. The X100 has the optical viewfinder, integrated ND, and small lens etc, while the X-E2 has interchangeable lenses, better sensor, more features but lacks the OVF (EVF is fine for me though). It uses the same NP W126 battery as my X-T1 though, and I already have 3 of them. I already have some lenses for the X- Mount (a 25mm f1.8, 35mm f2 and an adapted 50mm f1.8) and I'm confident using all three in a street environment. In my situation, would you go for the X100, or the X-E2? I can't really shake my head around it, both cameras have really strong and weak points (mostly, the X-E2 with a lens would be a bit bigger, has no OVF, and the X100 uses different battery type, and has a bit worse sensor + I know the X Trans 2 very well)
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthieu, You're a member of this small community, so I'll try to take some extra time to explain how I feel about this. If you've watched my videos, then you know that I spent a full year dedicating myself to photography in Japan, just that, nothing else. And that entire year I used the X100F as my main camera. So I'm a bit bias towards the x100 series in general. However, the X-E2 is faster in general, more capable, has interchangeable lenses, and has extra simulations (Including Classic Chrome) which happens to be the best Fuji simulation in my opinion. The x100 is the first mirrorless camera from the Fuji, and it feels that way. If you could get the x100s or x100t for the same price, then that would be a no-brainer, since I really need the OVF/EVF combo & ND filter to survive. The 25mm f1.8 (I'm assuming you mean the 7artisans or the Pergear lens) is pretty small, or if you're willing to shoot with the 27mm f2.8 as well, the X-E2 will be fairly compact. But if you plan to use larger, heavier lenses, then you might have to reconsider. I think the x100 is great, I recommended it my videos and reviews, but it's not as fast or responsive as the second gen cameras, If you're okay with, if you need the OVF/EVF like me, If you need the ND filter, and you don't mind the softness of the 23mm f2 lens when shooting wide open, then the x100 is a great choice. If not, then the X-E2 is the better pick, that way you can pick up where you left with your X-T1 and use the same lenses and shoot with classic chrome! Hope that helps! thank you so much for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts as well! And good luck! 😁🙌🏼

The leaf shutter does make a noise. It is relatively quiet. Only the electronic shutter is silent. Have a “S” and “T”. Love these cameras. Would love a “V” but the Fuji X100V prices are nuts. Highly inflated. One website I viewed suggest the “V” price gouging is related to1) the camera being touted on TikTok 2) supply chain issues and 3) the wild popularity of the camera. The important takeaway is expensive gear doesn’t improve the quality of your images. Wish it did or I’d have a red dot 🔴 on my camera body. Mask On Nurse Marty

I think for a complete beginner perhaps the X-A7 is a bit more convenient and easy to use, with "Auto" modes and flexibility. However, if you're serious about photography I would get the x100. It will force you to learn and get better at it, and will outlast the X-A7. It really just depends on you, your level of commitment, and if you want to invest the time to get better or just want a great camera that shoots in auto and that's it. Hope that helps! Maybe I'd get that camera or any subsequent years ago, but I'm really, really bothered by the lack of WR. Course I always end up in the rain, snow, desert storm or something like that somehow. And that's pretty much the main reason why I'm opting for the X100V. Course all of my Fujifilm cameras are weather sealed, with no exception.

That's a good idea.. my main camera is the x100v, I purchased it for the same reason: I needed weather resistance and I needed a sharper lens as well. I talk about that in my x100v review, check it out if you're considering getting the camera. That camera might be the right fit for you if WR is a must. Thanks a lot for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts as well, hope this helps! Cheers 🙌🏼✨

I have heard a lot of great things about this camera, but I haven't personally used it yet. I want to try a couple of these in the future. However, I personally need a rangefinder style viewfinder. I live inside the viewfinder. So this camera is a no for me. However, I want to test it and play with it because the results look great! and there's a lot of people out there that don't need a viewfinder to take photos. I'll try to get my hands on one of these in the near future. Cheers! 🙏🏼✨

Haha good! The word you're looking for is "Soul". The newer Sony & Canon cameras are technically impressive, but the clinical/sterile look is not appealing to me, let alone all the work that must be invested into post production. Those cameras foment the idea of shoot first, ask questions later. But these Fuji cameras are a joy to use, these have a look, a feel and a soul. If you are intentional with your photography and your settings BEFORE you take the photo, then that is all you have to worry about. Happy to hear more people are getting this camera and using it as well. Keep me posted about your experiences after you've used it for a while! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts as well. I appreciate it! 🙌🏼✨

Where did you buy it from because it is all around 400 now but that may just be because of demand

PSA: The original X100's ability to clear the buffer is absurdly sensitive to the write speed of the SD card being used. Use a card at or above 95 MB/s and thank me later!
