I sure hope your warm season plots for next year will be heavy on Buffalograss- I'd love to have you on board with that type in the coming years. So much heat and drought in this country these days that we need people like you promoting its use when and where appropriate. Keep up the great work you do Ryan! ✌️

What are the cultivars you are testing for drought? Btw you should test Zenith Zoysia. I grow it in Vermont, it can handle heat and drought no problem and requires zero irrigation.

So to get with the trend, we wind up planting a salad buffet for deer. I see. Glad to see you going through all of this methodically, things do have to be proven or disproven methodically. Great channel, been watching a while, subscribed.

Ryan. I noticed your power line poll down by your grass plots in the beginning of the video. You might call the electric company and see if they offer an optional security light to be installed down there. We have that option here it’s like 10 dollars more a month. But basically you have a really nice led light that would be on down there all the time. Just and idea.

Fyi for zero turns mowers you level them based on where you mow most often. I mow at 3 inches so I adjusted the front bolts to be level with the back bolts at 3 inches. At any other increment expect it to be a bit unlevel. Tell me if I'm wrong.
@TheBitsonEffect2 жыл бұрын
That is typically for the scalp guard wheels. You adjust those a 1/2” lower to the ground based on what level you mow most. You level the deck based off a level surface. You want 3” to be exactly that, and same with all other height of cut measurements. On large properties I mow, I use a 60” commercial Cub Cadet zero turn and those are the deck leveling instructions from the manual.
@jefmiller90572 жыл бұрын
Ryan, Is the deck level? Measuring from the blade to the ground the blades should be off by no more than 1/8" side to side. From front to rear the blades should be 1/8 to 1/4" lower in the front.

I recently added a wood fence around my backyard (7500 sq ft) and when they installed it, they dug up a lot of the soil for the posts and just threw it down around the perimeter. My soil is extremely sandy and there are big gaps under the fence in a lot of spots. I plan on putting some new fresh soil and laying some KBG/Rye down this week. I’ve had issues in the past with too much twigs/weed seeds etc from the top soil I buy at Lowes. Any recommendation on type of soil I should be looking for? It will be mixing with my sandy soil I currently have so that should help level it out.
@ryanknorrlawncare2 жыл бұрын
I usually get mine from a local bulk soil provider. I can't say that's absolutely bulletproof in terms of it being clean but I've had good luck with it
@CrazyManwich2 жыл бұрын
If it is called screened topsoil you should be good. If it is just referred to as top soil with no qualifier then it probably will have larger debris in it.

Anti scalp wheels? I have a 50” and don’t usually scalp unless on an i levels lawn cutting at 3” you shouldn’t see issues knowing ur lawn leveled fairly well so something is off
@ryanknorrlawncare2 жыл бұрын
Those wheels are essentially not doing on anything on this deck because it's fixed front and back and tightened down by bolts. I was mistakenly under the impression when I saw those wheels that it was going to be the same on all mowers where it helps the deck to flex when it hits low spots but you can push on the deck with your hands and it doesn't move at all so those wheels are basically just dragging
