THE VILLAGES FLORIDA NEWCOMERS

Күн бұрын

Clarification: We have the following services with superior; insect spraying, lawn fertilization, weed control, termite protection, and shrub fertilization. The annual cost for those services is $595. The initial termite bond and application would be extra as would irrigation services.
*************
When Jerry and Linda moved to Villages almost three years ago, they did all of their own lawn maintenance. They fertilized, they did their own weed control, and they treated their home and yard for insects. In the course of their time in the 55+ community they have decided to leave these jobs to the professionals. In this episode you can learn why they changed. Storage issues, as well as a lack of experience convinced the Newcomers to hire a service for all of their lawn maintenance.

Guys many of my friends in the orlando area have moved to eliminating a lawn completely. The have river rocks beautifully arranged. Maintenance free. There is so much to learn about FL lawns, and hiring professionals is the way to go! I encourage your viewers to ask their neighbors about the technician that actually performs the lawn services in their area - we’ve had a bad experience with Superior (high turnover on our route with 3 different techs in less than 5 months; our lawn suffered with inconsistent and delayed treatments so we went with another company whose tech is well reviewed by our neighbors - and we hope he’ll stay in his job for a long time!) Having said that, our Superior techs for interior/exterior pest control and for irrigation are great and come quickly when requested. Thanks for the video and y’all looked super cute lying on your lawn! 😍

This is why I like to have one company do everything. Mow, weed, fertilized, sprinkler service and any kind of spraying for bugs and weeds. If you have two different companies doing it theirs a good chance of getting the blame game. The mowing guy cut it to short they brought a different kind of grass from their lawn mower your sprinkler system is not covering the entire area and some parts aren't getting enough water etc. If one company does it all you can say well that's on you guys for cutting it to short etc. Just my opinion but if whoever you hire does it all they can't blame anyone else.

That tall “grass” is Nutsedge. It spreads via tubers that spread under the soil level. There are a couple of over the counter product that gets rid of them successfully: Image or Ortho Nutsedge Killer. You can always tell where you have an area in your yard where it stays moist because that’s where these buggers like to grow.

Comment....Bermuda grass is a good grass it just needs lots of sun and it also grows and spread fast in sandy soil, however it does not do well in the shade like Zoysia grass that most time only needs a few hours of sun and can handle full sun as well.

Surprised Superior doesn't know what Nut Sedge looks like. He needed to treat on the "spot". Also, Bermuda will take over the Zoysia grass over time. It is more aggressive...Which is ok. A well maintained Bermuda yard is very pretty when reel mowed cut. Nice video and pretty yard!!

@@JERRYANDLINDA when you did your 1st video with superior we had a conversation in the comments about them. So I hired them. I have had them for almost a year now. Yes they do come out when I call. But for what I pay my grass should be in better shape then what it is. About the money. I was charged $1390 for the 1st year. That included termite treatment, bug spray inside and outside, fertilizer on the grass and shrubs, and maintenance of sprinkler systems. Next year the cost goes to $700. looked like a lot of lawn problems for a company coming out ever month. Why do they come out and find problems if they are providing monthly services. Maybe they should come more often until those problems are corrected. I would not be paying $600 a year unless my lawn was in a great condition. I do know some of the lawn services spread problems across the lawns because they do not wash their machines between different services, or they do not keep lawn mower blades sharp and stress the grass. Also, if they are unaware of the taller grass type ( think it is nut grass) how can they be providing a specific treatment? It is very economical to have a company take care of your lawn needs but you need to make sure you are getting the services you are paying for. Thanks for the video, something we are all concerned with here in central Florida.

This company does not do any cutting weed eating edging, et cetera. They come and provide fertilizer, weed control, and insecticide. He pointed out an area that was not getting enough water, which is not their fault, And pointed out an area where the grass had been scalped by a weed eater, which also is not what they do.

Having to fuss over a lawn would be like having to convert to another religion. Its bad enough cutting my 2 acres. I had a service for lawn and pest 23 years ago. What a rip off. Probably wasted 2k and when I canceled a sales rep came on my property and cast thistle seeds. Eventually eradicated them with a little roundup and cutting them to the dirt. Its not St Augustine but my lawn looks fine in the rainy season.
