Virtual Prawn its on one board, so both are usable. Even on two separate cards, high bandwidth bridges enable more vram than just one, still waiting for the ability to use the full power of both.

Just some constructive criticism: 1. When you benchmark games state full system specs (cpu, gpu, ram, PSU, etc). 2. State the resolution at which the games are tested and how high are the settings set at (in some games "very high" provides the most visual fidelity, in others "ultra" does so.). I would just say "this game was run at the absolute max settings" or maybe share a screenshot of the graphic settings. 3. I'm sure you know this, but it's worth noting that in SLI, VRAM is not accumulative. If you have a gtx 690 with 2 gpus and each gpu has 2gb,then you have 2gb of usable VRAM. Yes, it's 4gb total but you get only 2gb of usable memory because the data is mirrored in both gpus. So you have twice the VRAM but twice the data stored in it.

A few other things I want to add: 1: Yes full specifications would be nice and it would also be nice to see a higher end CPU when benchmarking graphics cards, To ensure there are no CPU limitations. 2: A screenshot of settings would be nice so you can compare the results to your own benchmarking, Though that would also require a video and explanation of the benchmarking route. Another thing when testing the GTX 690 that would be interesting is at higher resolutions like maybe 2560x1080, 2560x1440 and 3440x1440 to see exactly where the 2GB vram becomes a problem. I have owned a GTX 690 and have done all the testing at different resolutions but I believe that's something people would want to see.

Gta 5 runs like butter with a gtx690, check my vid benchmarking it @4K with custom settings (using an I7-4770K).

Not if you know how to tweak in game settings propperly. Again check my vid playing gta5 @ 4k with a 690. Setting shader quality to normal did wonders for the fps. Worth noting that it barly managed 4k@60 with low setting in witcher 3, but older games like bf4 etc. ran, and looked awesome in 4k.

the 4gb of vram is VERY misleading, it has 2 gb of vram per gpu so while technically the gpu has 4gb of vram on the card, there is only 2gb of usable vram, this is how sli works

@NightWatchMan 85 690 is definately not useless in recent games. 690 still has very good performance on high settings, including new releases. It does require however that SLI can be utilized, else it's not much use. But the whole point of 690 was to use it with SLI, using a 690 without SLI for high end gaming is just plain stupid. It's worth mentioning that it's possible to use 690 SLI on the vast majority of games, including new releases. It may take a bit of tweaking sometimes, so if you're not good at doing that, or you hate doing it, there is of course that. This all means that even though if you bought this card 5 (five!) years ago you can still, after all these years, use it with great success for new releases. Tell me again how that is useless. Of course I would never recommend buying a 690 today; the money is better spend on a new card. But if you already have a 690 there's not much to gain from upgrading relative to how much cash you are going to spend.

The Skyrim part of the video is quite blocky in 1080p60, there are many compression artifacts. Crysis 3 is also quite blocky, while TF2 looks fine. Was there something wrong with the recording setup?

I have my dad's gtx 690. It performs very well for its age and you can even do graphical work and editing with it. It's equivalent to a gtx 980 or gtx 1060 more or less. I was so happy to see you make a vid on this and keep up the good work!

When I build my custom gaming PC in 2012 I got myself a EVGA GTX 670 2GB FTW Edition. (The one with a GTX 680 PCB) I loved the card and it served me very well over the years and aged quite good. Then I saw the same card in ebay and decided to get it no matter what. I got the card for about 70€ and now they are running in SLI. They are quite a bit overclocked above the already overclockness they got from EVGA and I can tell you, they really rock at 1080p. The Witcher 3 for example runs on highest settings (without hairworks) at a stable ~80fps at 1080p. Really love those cards. :)

wow, I just switched from an Asus 690 a few months ago to a Evga 1080 when I bought a 4k tv. The 690 handles 1080p pretty good for most titles even today. But for the future and 4k definitely more vram is needed. It is a great card and I had some awesome times with it.

hey, this is like a community question. I just found my old r7 240, and decided to put it in my dell dimension 5150. When I turned it on it just bleeped at me. I later found out that these two bleeps meant no video driver was detected. I tried replacing the power supply with one I know works with the 240, but still no luck. However, when I put the old GPU back in, it works just fine! Any ideas why this isn't working? Thanks

Are you sure about the 2gb of vram per gpu? SLI only ollows one gpu to have vram while they other is just another processor. technically it would be 4gmvram for gpu0 then gpu1 just processes.

Bought this beast of a card last year and have to say the only things holding it back are just the 2GB vram and the fact that a lot of newer titles are just poorly optimized console ports. As for power and thermals there is worse out there and people should never skimp when it comes to buying a power supply as I have seen some pretty dodgy units give up the ghost and blue smoke boards ect. This card is mainly for those who are wanting it to collect or only playing 1080p. My only gripe about the card is that very few came with a back plate.
