On this episode of Cody Crafted, we test out the hot of the shelf Badlands Off-Road Jack from Harbor Freight. In this in-depth review, we cover build quality, construction, and talk about some of uses it would be helpful with and put through our own little test course around the shop. This video is not sponsored, we did purchase this outright for the shop and wanted to share our thoughts with you if you were thinking about adding this tool to your arsenal.
We will shout out @harborfreight, as a growing shop we have used many items they provide and and certainly seen a lift in quality products for those of us that need long lasting tools that you can use over and over again.

Thank you for contacting Harbor Freight Tools. We appreciate the time you took in contacting us and we are more than happy to assist. There has been a mistake on the box and there is no rear axle wheel-lock on the Badland 3 ton off road jack. However, this jack utilizes a handle lock that allows the jack to be maneuvered. The handle gets locked into a 45 degree position that allows the user to lift the front wheels off the ground to easily move the jack around. Please let us know if we can assist you further.

Great review! Thorough and well put together! I just got mine because putting a 6x6 on my 25 year old craftsman was getting old. The Daytonas never seemed a worthwhile improvement. But this bad boy does. Waited for a coupon and got one. Thanks!

I just picked up my 2024 Colorado ZR2 a couple weekends ago, and as I'm new to serious offroading (I "softroaded" my RAV4 for years until I could get the truck I wanted), lately I have been buying things like recovery straps, soft shackles, etc. I saw this jack in HF a few weeks ago, and thought this would be great on the trail, glad to see vids of it in action!

It’s a good jack. every one and their mom has a a harbor freight jack, if not the one they have is probably made in the same factory. this badland is bad ass it’s not a budget jack it’s priced right not no 600 dollars. I think pro eagle priced it like that because it’s made in the USA? Or there was nothing else the same on the market.

Well there is one minor but important and very useful difference between the Badlands and the Pro Eagle jack that make this Harbor Freight jack a better value and worth purchasing over the Pro Eagle aside from the money and that is the jack locking lever which allows the jack to be easily maneuvered and positioned using the jack handle... something you can't do with the Pro Eagle.

If it was made in the USA like other pit Jacks, it would be worth the asking price. www.speedwaymotors.com/Brunnhoelzl-Aluminum-Racing-Jack,68778.html

@CodyCrafted Well that is subjective. Some people don't care about "American Made" as much as others do and still prefer to buy goods based on cost, quality and or functionality and overall value instead of choosing American made products based on their patriotic sentiments or perhaps a lack thereof. But yes, I'm a retired soldier so I totally get it when people opt to purchase American made products even if it costs more... but in this case, my previous comment makes sense since both of these jacks are Chinese made and "American made" isn't even part of the equation.

Great review, thought it was a bit TMI in the beginning but all useful information. Riding the jack on the gravel was not something I ever considered. May need that someday. I’ve had mine for about two weeks and the box states “rear axle wheel lock: help hold the jack in place “. Does anyone know how this feature works? I emailed HF, still waiting on response.

There should be a little lever near the back wheels, but it doesn't lock the wheels, it locks the handle.

Yeah I don't think that's a feature that would ever be used. As the lifting pad swings on an arc, the base has to roll
@etmesi

A normal hydraulic jack the rear wheels steer. Larger rear tires is why probably this jack does not do this, why they put the handle lock on this jack. To haul this jack one thing I would like if the wheels had brake locks.

The lifting pad swings on an arc (just like any rolling floor jack), locking wheels would actually be dangerous. As you lift the vehicle the jack has to roll to prevent it from pulling off the frame or lifting point.
@CodyCrafted
@CodyCrafted 6 ай бұрын
The frame is too narrow for transmission duty. It'll be too tippy. I've got the HF floor transmission jack, it actually goes a half inch higher than the Badlands. (According to the website specs). Thanks for watching.

‘a bad application’? & horrible video, actually the video description probley less lousy, ok, is my latest video about jacking up vehicle which requires super low entry clearance, combined with 19-21” height on 1 small hidden spot deliberately nearly impossible to get to. I started to hear an attempted such jack crack &/or crumble, & switched to bottle jack on top of metal plate, w/rubber underneath to level, etc., but couldn’t put picture on video or coments do to the usual computer instructions type dumness of stuf. also, had to make custom brick/ramps just small, & tall enough(5/8/17 w/removable ramps) to get it started. click smirky, videos, & ‘jack standing a 12 .. bla bla etc.’ anyhU the front whEls R 2 dRn on that, I think Il chill out till maybe cat 2 ton(with whEls model) rolls out(no pun int.)
