I use the 1T as a transmission holder. Do yourself a favor and get the 2T version from HF. Can hold a fully dressed 454 with iron heads with minimum flex. With a coupon about $110, worth every penny. On any stand, suggest replacing the chineseum bolts with true Gr8 hardware. I don't care what markings they put on them, basically hardware bolts.

The cheapest one I could find was 100 bucks, and that one is pretty cheap lol. It is nice and durable, but lacks quite a few things. I had to lube the rotating part good so it doesn't seize, and the rear wheels only go back and forth. It also has those 4 extra bolts with rubber discs on the end that you can screw in to touch the ground, makes it more stable when holding heavy engines

I've got one of those holding a cast iron headed BBC and it's been on there for years. And I lube the casters and don't have any issues moving it around. And since the casters are a little wider than on my other engine stands it's very stable.

So that's the half-ton engine stand? It's an excellent engine stand. I've never used another one, but I used it on a Chrysler 2.7 liter and I was super pleased with it. Yeah, it's hard to turn the rotisserie thing but of course it is. It has a fucking engine attached to it. I really like it! It's a great deal. Finding bolts that connect to the engine was kinda hard, but I figured it out.

I bought one and its heavy duty overall...heavier than i thought and i still dont mind it...but ONE problem is the wheels. It was missing two washers and E snap rings. I called the company (answered on a Sunday which was crazy) but they said they dont have any in stock. So i was left hangin. So i went to Menards and got some washers and some E clips....one side was not sized right so i shaved the wheel opening down a bit. I was able to install but that side popped off within minutes of moving the stand with the engine on it. I ended up picking up a big variety pack of Snap Rings that Harbor freight sells and used that style instead and no more problems yet....so the wheels suck...be preparred to modify it but its a good base. I want to upgrade the wheels so something much better someday...but not my priority.

Be careful. Had my HF engine crane brand new slowly drop my newly rebult motor . It's fine but left it on crane after pulling out of my pickup to get new stand bolts. By the time I got back it was on the ground. Didnt damage or scrap anything. Must of been slow. I ended up cribbing it with 6x6 blocks till I was able to get on my stand. I think yard sale Made in America stands maybe something to look for next.

U paid $48 and I had to pay $142 at O'Reillys torque brand and not because I didn't know but because HF inventory control has a tendency to not have items which means things do sell. They really do good work and I must say I missed out on the experience with this engine stand .

I hung a Chrysler 440 on one of these and it sagged several inches which really worries me. I'm mostly worried about the assembly between the main plate and the rotating hub. The hub does not protrude into the plate fully (no reason it couldn't) and it's not fully welded on the one side, only a few tacks. All it'd take is for one of those to let go and down it goes. So I'm not going to trust it with that much weight. A 4 banger yeah but not an iron big block. I'll have to go buy their 1 ton version and hope it's a beefier design.

how much does this engine weigh ? maybe that balance comment is why I am struggling with mine, turning it over is just not happening without some serious leverage on my part. -- kitty litter works for absorbing oil, coolant, and other messes !! Just saying... my engine had sludge in it. And puked oil and coolant on the floor.

I don't understand why buy a 2 ton hoist and a half ton stand
@TheOriginalLugnuts2 жыл бұрын
That’s how they come. The stand doesn’t have to do anything other then hold the engine and most car, truck and SUV engines are less then 500 lbs which is half the stands rating. As for the hoist as you extend the arm out the rating drops down. The higher tonnage hoists have a longer reach which is needed for some cars including my Trans Am. Also when pulling the engine the force on the hoist might be greater then the weight of the engine if for example you have a stuck mount so a higher rating is good to have.

So got a pair the bolt on from the bottom, I cut out some 1/4" flat steel plate. Welded to the bottom, and bolted down the new wheels. She's rolling great to this day, made the modification back in 2008'

So it doesn’t come with bolts to bolt the engine with it? You have to get them at a hardware store, what strength do I need to get? I couldn’t quite hear. Was it grade A or grade 8 I will be buying this stand soon
@TheOriginalLugnuts5 жыл бұрын
no because every engine has different bolts. the bolts that attach the Transmission to the enine will be too small to use so what I do is take one and match up the diameter and threads to a longer bolt at the hardware store. I prefer grade 8 bolts but regular ones will probably be fine. they are not much more money so I go with them because they are stronger.
