My friend David retired to the Philippines and needed a way around that was not too costly and good on fuel. He choose the Honda ADV 160 motorcycle. Watch this video and see if you think it is the best bike for the money.

I bought a new adv160 in November 2023 here in Leyte. Perfect bike for Philippines city for province. I added rear box bracket with 35liter rear top box. Added 28mm bar risers, makes it more comfortable for a taller guy. Also ordered side sec hard side pannier boxes and a bracket, waiting to recieve. Overall a great bike, fun, easy. Recommend to any new expat..just buy this bike first and figure out what car/truck/big bike u want later. 165,000 otd with insurance, and 3 year registration..about $3,000usd

people here in America that have the Honda ADV 150 are saying that they cannot ride for more than a couple of miles going 60-65 miles per hour before the scooter starts to kind of rebel, can you ride at that speed without the scooter fighting it? The people here are saying the 150 is comfortable going around 50-55 miles per hour at the most

I bought a 2021 Honda PCX 160 ABS version brand new and it's the best city bike for the traffic of Cebu. There's better bikes, but not for Cebu City. The newest ADV now has the same motor and is better if you need to go off road but the PCX has a much softer ride.

My wife had her brother buy a NMAX 155 right before we got here. She wanted it waiting for her. 😀 It had all the bells n whistle's including the push to start. We would both ride that to get groceries for 2 or 3 weeks until our SUV arrived. Her problem with it was she didn't ride it very often after we got the SUV so the battery was always going dead. After about a year she sold it to her sister. Then she bought a yellow Vespa, surprise she likes brand names and more exclusive brands. In a year she's only needed a jump start once on the Vespa. I didn't want a scooter so I bought a Honda Rebel 1100. To each their own.

Grew up riding bikes, quads, sleds. While in Palawan rented an Nmax for a month, good bike no complaints. Went back to Tacloban and decided test ride an ADV 160 and rented it for a month again. Omg what a huge difference compared to the Nmax, so much better. Turn radius, mirror placement, seat comfort, suspension travel is excellent with 2 people and stuff, excelleration is quick and upgrading the cvt weights is an option, these are just a few points. My wife says the view from the passenger seat is easy and loves going around town as a passenger. We plan on buying one in cebu this year. Also the resale on these bikes is super excellent

nice choice, my second moto was a cheap 150cc China Scoot, but Honda's are great quality all around, you will have some fun times. (first was a 125 in Taipei, 4 speed motorcycle, 30+ years ago, second was a 2008 China Scoot, and now for about the last two years I am on a Kawasaki Versys), I am a fan of the helmet, and especially a set of gloves (I wear a $20 pair from Home Depot), and closed toe shoes, long pants and shirts, but you make your own choices and ride safe, (there will be some chaos on the roads, take it slow at times is my recommendation)

I saw a youtube review of this exact bike by a guy in the Philippines who had owned it for a year just a few days ago. He would not recommend buying another. He had a number of issues. 1) The gas cap access door looked flimsy and did not stay open all the way as when new. 2) He had issues with the keyless FOB as it would not recognize it reliably. He had to "approach" the bike a number of times before it would recognize it and start. (Maybe he need a new battery) 3) One of the switches on the lower right side (I forget what it was for) looked like it was very loose when he tried to toggled it. 4) He was a big guy, little on the heavy side, and he felt the bike was under powered for him. Not sure of any upgrades he had. Personally I like the looks of the bike and thought it would be the perfect size for me.

For a mid-level Honda ADV160 it is a fine bike for the price, my preference is the ADV750.
@PhilippinesLife101
@PhilippinesLife101 6 ай бұрын
ADV750 is nice but it's also a big investment at like 4x the price and it's also not easy to get in the Philippines. I think most are special ordered. It's good for long trips and expressway but not so good around town as the smaller 160 is perfect. The ADV160 is best in class, but at the 750 class you are up against real bikes at that price point with many costing less and some are even better off road or just plain faster so I can't really recommend the ADV 750 for the Philippines.

We took a long 4 hour ride on coastal and mountain roads couple times lately. I was on my KTM 390 Adventure, one friend on a Yamaha XSR155 and David on his ADV160. David ran smooth out of power going up inclines to where I could accelerate greatly and the XSR155 could hold steady. The ADV160 lacked I think because of the automatic transmission. It maybe called a ADV but it is no adventure bike by any means. It is a small highway cruiser. David said he was maxing out at 60 to 65 mph tops. This is why here in the Philippines it is not allowed on expressways.

The ADV is a sport scooter not a motorcycle class. Honda makes the 160 ADV the 350 ADV and the 750 ADV , The old ADV was a 150cc .the ADV class is like a street and trail scooter . Honda 160 is the vs to Yamaha Nmax 155 , Honda ADV 350 vs Yamaha Xmax 300 , and the Honda X 750 vs Yamaha Tmax 560 cc. Thats the battles lol.

Too dang hot in PH to wear riding gear. After initially buying all the gear jacket shoes and everything running was so miserable and hot and tiring after 30 minutes i was ready to go home. Once i ditched the riding gear i really enjoyed myself i simply drive slower and safer. I also got the cut off finger riding gloves and it's so much cooler to have those of course if you crash my fingers might get a little damage but most of my hand is protected.

Pretty Scooter! However, although the new seat looks ok for the driver ( have experienced as a 6 footer ( some seats, tend to slide me forward!), The padding for the passenger, looks very thin, for any ride over an hour. My previous bike had such a seat, after an hour ,had to stop , and massage my wife's butt! To get some feeling back into it ( or perhaps part of a cunning plan? Lol ). My little Yamaha YTX 125 , ( unfortunately!!?) Has a well padded seat, so sadly no more massage situations!! Lol Also, since riding' side saddle' is common here for ladies( easier to use CP's ! Lol), it is good! Secondly, the back box. The wife's uncle on his Honda supremo 155 bike, has integral lights ( including brake lights on it). Regularly does 200 km trips at night, so far , no one has hit him from the rear! Reads to all. Roger, from Pangasinan. Oh BTW. I would suggest, investing in some good quality ( yellow tinted!) Glasses( not plastic!) If doing much night driving! As. A former taxi driver back in the UK, doing long nights. They come in very usefull. Not to mention here in the Philippines, preventing, getting pesky insects getting in the eyes in the evenings!

FYI Don't forget, the ADV 160 is a scooter pretending to be an ADV. I'm buying one in March, so I am not a big bike snob or a bighead. While there is a trend for many advertisers and manufacturers to call scooters ADV bikes, this is a nonsense. They are scooters, not motorcycles. Even the Honda ADV 750, in my opinion, is still just a large-capacity scooter and I would never entertain having something like that. Different horses for different courses, (of course). Adventure motorcycles are large and heavy but powerful and comfortable, these bikes are usually in the range of 500-1200 cc or bigger; (some say as small as 400cc but I believe anything bigger than 1000cc should be called a pig, often it's a very fat and heavy pig). ). Adventure bikes are great on-road and tolerable off-road. Aimed at riders who do high mileage and venture off-road occasionally, these bikes are capable of a weekend getaway or a two-year Round The World Trip. They handle very differently and are ridden in a different way than scooters are. How is a little automatic scooter, struggling to keep up with highway traffic, an ADV?. There is a recent trend for many advertisers and manufacturers to call scooters ADV motorcycles and this is a nonsense. Ride safe everyone. Always care well for your treasured machine, whatever it is!
