First off, thanks for leaving a link to my review in the description, much appreciated!!! I too had frets that were on the sharper side, that’s a simple enough fix. My Fesley was setup pretty much right on the nose to the specs on the card. Ultimately I still lowered the action a bit when I replaced the bridge… I’ve had a lot of fun modding mine to this point. I’ve kept the pickups stock as I think they sound great and are definitely a highlight of the instrument. Thankfully I didn’t have any high frets, which allowed me to get the action pretty low without any fret buzz. I too also made a slight truss adjustment as well. All in all it’s been a fun guitar to mod and play. Obviously with budget Chinese guitars, things can vary from instrument to instrument, but for the most part, they seem pretty fun to mod for a sub-$200 guitar. Lastly I appreciate their willingness to work with small creators, get feedback, and have a genuine interest in improving their guitars. These are the kind of companies I work with and enjoy doing videos for because they genuinely wanted a review, not a commercial… 🤘🎸

Definitely a fun guitar! Fret buzz is kind of a no-go for beginners though. And high frets are more of a no-go. For the mod community it's a different story. Less logos and I think it could turn into a great budget mod platform.
@FretboardDiaries7 ай бұрын
@@ArtOfShredYT Yeah luckily mine really didn’t have any fret buzz, and I’m hoping that’s more of the norm, but who knows. I also wonder if there’s any quality difference between colors… That might sound crazy but it’s certainly possible different groups are working on them. Also, did you have any gaps in the neck pocket? I had seen a few other reviews, both were black satin finish, and they had large gaps in the neck pocket. Thankfully mine didn’t have that, it was pretty bad in those two videos, but they were also early runs of this model.
@ArtOfShredYT7 ай бұрын
No gaps in the neck pocket. Not completely uncommon for bolt-ons to have a small gap, though, so that wouldn't bother me unless it was causing some kind of issues. As for different groups working on different finishes: who knows! Could be.

This is a good video! I didn’t have those issues with mine but yeah. This really shows cherry picking isn’t happening with this brand. Mine were so good out of the box I actually worried a little bit that they were cherry picked.
@ArtOfShredYT7 ай бұрын
Thank you! I got mine shipped directly from the Amazon fulfillment center and I assume at that point it's difficult to pick the ripest cherries. (Keeping on theme here, haha 🍒)
@60CycleHumcast7 ай бұрын
@@ArtOfShredYT yeah mine got here quick in a way oversized Amazon box. There’s really no way to know for sure if brands cherry pick or not, but I’ve gotten enough bummers in the mail to assume it’s rare lol.

@@60CycleHumcast That was the most hilariously oversized box. If it hadn't been so light I'd have assumed it was 3 guitars.

@@ArtOfShredYT right? I typically keep guitars in all their packaging until I can film the unboxing but that box had to go. Absolutely ridiculous.

I understand from videos I've seen as of Jan '25 that Fesleys don't have all the name branding all over them now, just on the headstock. Good thing. That badge at the 12th fret was horrible!
@ArtOfShredYT10 күн бұрын
Good on them for listening to the community about that
@markpell897910 күн бұрын
@ArtOfShredYT Yup. That brand name at the 12th fret though, I wouldn't want that if it said Fender. Interesting guitars though, supposedly getting better as they go. But who knows if they'll be around next year?

Did you ever do a follow up on the Squier Debut? That Fesley QC card looks just like the Fender ones, guitar seems to have same QC issues as Fender.
@ArtOfShredYT7 ай бұрын
I have not done the full Debut review yet but mine did not have QC issues. I still haven't given it a setup so it's possible I'll notice something when I do. I'm planning my Mitchell T333CE-BST review for next Monday and then I hope to have the Debut Strat review ready the Monday after. It's possible I'll have the DIY fuzz pedal kit video ready before the Debut video, though. We'll see!

And future videos use a multi meter check to pickups output that would be very helpful. Bald shredder does that now and 6stringstanger

I get the feeling that QC has taken something of a dive since the early Fesleys. Those guitars seemed pretty decent, but current iterations appear to have some issues. A truss rod adjustment is perfectly fine (and honestly not unexpected); a fret level (for me, at least) is not. We've seen this happen before when a brand goes viral, so to speak. Your integrity is appreciated as always.
@ArtOfShredYT7 ай бұрын
Yeah that could be true. With volume QC can definitely suffer. Squiers often have similar issues, although the last bunch of low budget Squiers I've received have all been good.

G'Day Karol, I'm a long-term beginner. 😅. I agree with you about accessories. I see no point including cheap accessories things like a cable. Without an amp, a cable us useless. If you already have an amp, you probably already have a cable (that is better than the "freebie"). As far as set-ups go, I can forgive most things, except uneven frets. Unless you have tools & skills, (and most beginners don't), the cost of repairing uneven frets probably mean that you would have been better off going to to a mum& dad bricks 'n mortar shop, spend a bit more money and buy one already checked out and set-up etc.
@ArtOfShredYT7 ай бұрын

@shadowminister409010 күн бұрын
@markpell8979 😂. G'day Mark, "long-term beginner" is a term I heard on Rustys Guitar channel. Rusty does teaching videos and is very good. I've been playing for 55 years and the term describes me perfectly. In fairness, I understand a fair bit of theory and can play cowboy & barre chords, but even after 55 years, I haven't progressed any further. The irony is that our son has a degree in music and do all this freaky stuff.😂 Kind regards. Rod

I enjoy some of these instruments as much as the next affordable guitar aficionado - but the Chinese *really* need to work on their naming conventions.
@ArtOfShredYT7 ай бұрын
Nearly every brand needs to work on their naming. e.g. Gretsch G2215-P90 Streamliner Junior Jet Club. Come on! haha. At least Fesley FLP350 is simple

Would be willing to pay $100 extra to not have any possibility of fret issues.

I hear you! Unfortunately, there's no way to guarantee it unless buying locally or paying for a setup (e.g. from Sweetwater). The CV '50s Tele I mentioned in this video is ~$400 (though I got it on sale for $300) and it had fret issues. That said, most guitars, budget or not, don't have fret issues. There's just no way to guarantee it haha
