Squire started as a Fender Japan range of high quality guitars that surpassed US Fender at the time. They were Fender labeled versions of the superb "lawsuit" guitars of the late 70’s. Ibanez Greco etc.

The Paranormals are of that same quality. And many professionals play Squiers, including Mike Rutherford of Genesis. The fretboard, by the way, is not thirsty. The pickups do not need to be sidegraded.

I have one and it really is a phenomenal guitar. At any price. I just so happens to be cheap. It is rare to find a 12 string that will intonate that well. The pickups are pretty hot. So, it will not sound like the weak output that you get form a Rickenbacker. That isn't a good or bad thing but I do have to reset my amp setting going back and forth from my Rickenbacker. I tend to drive a fender amp harder with the Squier or gain up a Vox for the Rickenbacker.

I own the same guitar - got it recently when Fender was offering it at $100 discount (hard to beat). I also own the Dano 12. I enjoy them both - the Dano has better tuning. Currently have the Squier tuned to open G. I've always enjoyed alt tunings on a 12 - hence having two.

Thanks for the honest review. This is exactly what I’m looking for because I have similar taste in gear. It’s funny, there are electronics and setup issues that others have described, yet everyone still loves this thing. I’d have to get over Squire logo.

Hi, I totally understand your point of view because I'm a guitar snob too... Right now I'm waiting for this 12 strings guitar, just question of days and I'll put my hands on, then I'll fight against my self to keep the instrument as it is or replace the pickups with custom ones made by a very talented friend of mine. Thanks for this video.
@Lunarrescuemusic11 ай бұрын
The pickups are fine, but the machine heads are where the real trouble lies. They are absolute garbage! Buzzing, vibrating, rattling etc. I've had to replace them already. I've also just put it in for a proper setup, which should make a massive difference. It's a pretty solid guitar to be fair though.

Hi, just get the guitar yesterday. Straight out from the box up on stage for a couple of songs (I know it’s insane). All stays in tune, sound perfect. Today I’ve been tracking for few hours using old fender amps, sounds absolutely fantastic. Unbelievable for this price.

Ok. So this is pretty much one of my favorite reviews of any music gear I’ve seen on KZbin. The fact that you have the Genelecs and a twin bed in the camera frame, literally sums it up. I can totally relate. This ethos has been the bane of every girlfriend I’ve had- heh! You put your money where it counts and are no bullshit. I literally subscribed to your channel like 3 min into the video. If I lived anywhere near you we’d be having pints and talking gear and music once a week. Haha- Cheers and looking forward to checking out your other videos.

Squier guitars not for professionals? I have seen Jeff Healey live playing a black Strat by Squier and Mike Rutherford played Squier Strats too on the last Genesis tour! I have a red Squier Strat from 1989 made in USA that I like very much...and I just bought the Jazzmaster XII in Fiesta red and it is a pretty cool guitar. The neck look like a regular six string electric and I would have like a larger neck to have more space between the strings (like an acoustic 12 strings) because the neck is pretty narrow for a twelve strings and for somebody with big fingers (mines are OK) it could be difficult to play this thing.

Good review, I’m trying to decide if i get one of these or spend a bit more on a Gretsch or Hagstrom. Whats putting me off is that several reviews refer to poor quality tuners. By the time youve replaced them, youre getting into a higher bracket.

@@flatpicker1923 The quality of the overall guitar is excellent. With guitars like Gretsch you’ll need to spend a lot more money on their higher end models to see the jump in quality. You can pick up Wilkinson tuners for pretty cheaply.
