When I started about a month and a half ago, it felt impossible to get started. But now I memorized more code, more technique, more logic, and it’s more smooth. Not many people talk about this initial confusion, but one bit of advice I’ll give is to push on no matter how annoying or difficult and to study the Unity Manual

I spent four months experimenting with coding, visual scripting, game engines, etc. and had countless cancelled products. Eventually, I tried learning C# again and I was so much more succesful than I was the last time I tried the language. I found the best way to learn stuff (for me) was searching the unity c# documentation. I would have never got to this point without you though man. You have pushed me (and lots of others) to keep on moving forward and keep learning. So, thanks.

12:50 - When I was 14 I wanted to make some sort of Indie game of a story I thought of and when I tried working with Unity back then I followed Bracey's tutorial on GameDev and I got lost and couldn't keep up so I just told myself I would learn later in life and not worry about it now, 2 years later I made my first project in 3 months.

Indie dev is risky but I think its very much worth it. First of all, if your game doesnt bang, you still have the skill you learned while making your game. For me its a question of what's more important: getting my dream job, or getting my dream life (outside of work). For me, its the latter, and (with many of the same skills I learned for game dev) I'm far more likely to acquire enough money to live my dream life through more boring software development jobs/projects than I would be through indie game development. Game Dev is certainly an AMAZING and incredibly productive hobby though. I sometimes do it when I'm feeling a bit "lazy", but since my full-time job has me sat at a computer all day I try to be more active when I have free time.

Creating a game is very hard, and it isn't for everyone. I have been doing it for 6 years on my own, and I have learned a lot since putting in thousands of hours. You must be willing to put in the time to learn, you have to be dedicated, be confident, have determination, be creative, stay focused, be ready to spend some money and take the chance of not getting any back, not have a life, getting your wife/husband to compromise, be willing to learn many new things that come along with being a Game Developer. Your game Must be Unique and Stand Out! Good Luck!

At the beginning of the video you guys seem sad about having a good year, but you shouldn't do that to yourselves! Not only are you teaching and motivating people to follow their passions and find success in similar ways to yours, when people put money into you, you turn around and put it into the asset developers, and other creatives that you do business with, which helps make sure the people around you have a good year also! When a community of people all pay for each other's services that's called a thriving economy, one which gets built up every day by those of you who keep the dream alive. Just because not everyone can be at the top doesn't mean those at the top have anything to feel bad about for being there. It is a very important part of making sure those who deserve theirs find it :)

Dude, when reading negative feedback 1) DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY, and 2) BE SMART ABOUT WHAT THE FEEDBACK IS SAYING, in other words, is the feedback actually explaining some issue? Because comments like "it looks boring" or "I don't like X thing" without anything else, or if someone says "the music sucks" when 20 other people LOVED IT, is just white noise to me. However, if the negative feedback is something like "I feel the perspective is wrong and should be more inclined this way because that way the visual well be better", now THAT'S HELPFUL AS HELL! Be selective on which feedback you give importance to.

I think one thing people who criticizes these two for promoting their products is they forget Thomas and David have families to support. They have bills, concerns and stress single game devs don't have. Money is very important when you are a Father and paying the bills, putting food on the table, trying to plan for your kids future and so on. Giving everything for free or cheap is not always an option, especially when you have a business to run and not a back up job. And that may be the difference with some devs. These two are running a business to support their family now. The hobby aspect is over. and you will sacrifice for your family if that means franchising a game or selling courses to help make ends meet. it's business 101: Passive Income. Look it up. Don't work harder, work smarter which these two did discuss in this video in different ways. Just my two cents as a Father and game dev supporting a family by myself.

raking in overpriced course money on the backs of young and aspiring game developers is pure vomit inducing. Ofcourse money is important and there is nothing wrong with selling a course. But not in Brush his case. He is a manipulative fraud. His games run like shit on switch and he is selling a course? All he teaches or at least ramble about is from free resources found on the internet. All he does is read his comments and see how much questions there is for a tutorial... I purchase a lot of courses on skill share for my agency but I have never spend 400 dollars for 12 videos rambling about a guy who hires a company to film himself riding on a 5k bike shot with a drone...or film his family in his gated-community house to show of his so called wealth... He is a scammer, and I have to say a good one as he is able to polish his turds up into a shiny gem. However it sickens me that all these poor souls look at these typical guru tactics and surlf the wave of these online course trend. "show of the wealth and talk how well you are doing .... to lure in new money" Open your eyes please. and once again this has nothing to do with earning fair money, or supporting a family. This is about being real, being humble and truthfully. Please!!!! open your eyes.

If you mean the 80/20 principal it means 80 percent of something is 20 percent of something else. Such as 80 percent of restaurant customers only make 20 percent of restaurant revenue. Its the 20 percent of the customers that pays the bills. The last 20 percent of making a video game requires 80 percent of work required for the whole game. 80 percent of you will only make up 20 percent of what makes you special. Find what that 20 percent is to really show off your full potential.

David, what you said there at the last, that is exactly what the scriptures say. We take the Word, the truth which is greater than facts or experienced reality, and we change both perceived reality and physical reality through believing the truth. So we keep muttering the truth all day. I mean that’s the gospel. Perfect beings having lost perfection, believing that THE perfect being came and gave perfection back and took away imperfection, through both faith and relationship with Him. That’s the gospel. We have to keep muttering it though. Marry the truth.

Wrong question. It's like asking whether you should found a startup, a bakery, or a cafe. The question should be: Do you have a brilliant idea? If not, do not do it. It never was different in history, and never will be. If all you seek is to satisfy your parents, or a few likes and interviews, or to prove yourself as x, then you'll not make it. Your idea, your product, your unique service -- only this matters.

It's because the way capitalism works nowadays, people buy your stuff because of your name, not because the merits of your games, you get success but you know that it doesn't sit on par with the quality of your product, so you feel bad about it. Same goes for twitch and youtube, people have no idea why they get such success, they don't deem themselves worthy of it, and they are right, but that's not the way the world works in 2020-2021. Fame trumps merit anytime. Look at Among us....really? all that success for a cluedo game with absolutely no decent game mechanics, no rpg, no strategy, no nothing, it's literally cluedo online. Look at Flappy bird. And the list goes on.

Biased course sellers... Ofcourse is the indie dream worth it if you can rely on an audience that is aspiring to become a game dev. pay close attention. Both sell a course. Don't be fooled. This is pure propaganda. Why are they making a course? To help you? Then the course would be a lot cheaper. Why so expensive? Because its worth it? No, because its their income... Bottom line: There is no money to be made with mediocre games. Maybe if you score a hit or your have recurring income of ads in mobile games. Open your eyes kids. Stay in school and get an solid coding / art foundation first and then... try a game as a hobby...
