Great boat and I have to say, that's the way to do a "boat-for-sale" video. It's long but very thorough, with slow pans, close ups but more importantly, good wide angle shots throughout the interior. Thank you! I've been Producing film and video for over 25 years, it's so nice when you see someone nail it. Well done sir!

Ok, it doesn't hurt that I love the boat. But I'm here to comment about the exquisite production of this video. Well done. Mesmerizing moments at sea, a really nice sense of natural observation of boat operations, and musical score done the way it should be: as a backdrop that layers with the atmosphere of the shots rather than something that thinks it has something to prove. You've earned my subscription.

Really nice set up! Me Likey! I like the in cabin rod holders and the location of the fresh food hammocks. I really like the picture hanging that shows all of the thru hulls. quick reference without going to the book. Just a little short in the headroom category for me. Really nicely laid out and looks to be a great vessel. I went to your link and read everything. Again, Nice yacht! you really put together a great video. wish everyone would do the same. keep up the good work!

Where is Morgan nowadays, as haven't see her in the videos for some time? I have been enjoying the technical details and walkthroughs of your latest videos, but I do miss the older type content. What's your future plans and has Covid been difficult?
@LearnToSailMexico4 жыл бұрын
Covid has drastically effected out plans. We were going to return to Canada for a year to work and save up more money, but her job with the city was squashed due to covid. I was going to join Paper Boat Project with Stefan (formerly of Miss Lonestar) and sail from Dominican Republic to Jamaica...that obviously fell apart. And we were also going to travel to Japan this past July...that died. So, we've stayed put in Mexico, where it has been safest and easiest to be. Who knows what the future has to bring, but know that we'll survive and keep on doing our thing!!

There are a number of higher quality, better performing offshore cruisers for less than $300K. The Cabo Rico 42, Valiant 42, Pacific Seacraft 44 are all vastly superior in both build quality and performance and all can be had for less than $300K.
@LearnToSailMexico4 жыл бұрын
IP has LWL 37.4' vs Cabo Rico LWL 32' vs Valiant 42 LWL 34.5' vs PS44 LWL 33.5' (advantage IP). In same order as above, here are how specs compare: Sail area/Disp. - 15.30/16.31/16.37/17.12 (advantage PS44) | Bal./Disp. - 40.0/38.8/38.6/40 (advantage - draw) | Disp./Len. - 257/365/267/325 (adv. IP in lighter air, Cabo Rico in heavier air) | Comfort Ratio - 34.12/38.73/34.87/39.36 (negligible practical difference in comfort for bluewater, but slight adv. PS) | Capsize Screening Formula - 1.84/1.70/1.76/1.68 (again, negligible but adv. CR) | S# - 1.95/na/1.84/1.57 (adv. IP). So, you can see based on the specs, they are all comparable and the examples you've given are anything but "vastly superior" in quality or performance. I've also put out a video on a Pacific Seacraft 38...they are comparable in build quality. I've seen nothing in the construction or fit/finish of the IP that would suggest it's anything but as well built a boat as the PS. And performance of the IP is par or better (certainly of the above comparisons and specs, it's very likely the fastest of the 4). Layout/comfort advantage - I personally think goes to IP of the 4. Prices are comparable between all 4. Power-plant and tankage - advantage IP. Have you ever been aboard or sailed an IP? I think you would be surprised!
@LearnToSailMexico4 жыл бұрын
For those who don't know what the S# means: "The equation incorporates SA/Disp (100% fore triangle) and Disp/length ratios to create a guide to probable boat performance vs. other boats of comparable size. For boats of the same length, generally the higher the S#, the lower the PHRF. Under 2 - Slow, under powered. 2-3 - Cruiser 3-5 - Racer Cruiser 5+ - Fast/Racing"

BOOM! You nailed it again Josh. The way the camera caresses the lines and form of this boat is almost sexual. (mmm maybe that says more about me he he ) I feel your passion is every sailing presentations. Get on with your bad self~ now to your question: Is the IP 420 the Best Bluewater Sailboat under $300K? The book "WORLDS BEST SAILBOATS" [ vol 2], devotes 12 full color pages to the IPs. With the 420 being featured. So who the "heck" am I to argue? Answer: yes, OH HELL YES! I have to give a salute to the owner/Captain of this IP 420. His OCD has not been in vain. Not only his electronics suite but his labeling of storage areas and the nice diagram of the thru hull location deserve at least an honorable mention in the Sailing Museum of OCD Sailors. I do have a couple of questions: Is there a H2O maker onboard? I did not see one and they are not standard equipment from IP. Same question on a bow thruster, is there one? Getting in and out of docks with a full keel, displacement sailboat is not the easiest of maneuvers, a bow thruster does help a heck of a lot. I have heard others say the IPs sail like a bath tub. To them I say you are getting a Morgan and IP confused. The IPs are graceful and elegant in their sailing performance, not to mention stable with the feeling of "Go Anywhere" the IPs impart on their crew. I noted on the bow area a 2020 FL registration. I also noticed what looked like a Federal Hull Registration number in the interior. Is this IP Federally registered? Last question, is a sailboat purchased in Mexico subject to US state tax or any Mexico tax? Thank you again for your most honest prestation. Be happy, be safe.
@LearnToSailMexico2 жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn’t get back to your comment sooner! It’s a good thorough comment. I can’t remember now if this boat had a watermaker...I believe it did, was otherwise fully equipped for extended cruising/liveaboard. It did have the bow thruster. Yeah, these boats are no slouches, and achieve great hull speeds and daily average miles on passages. Very stable, very comfortable...if I had the budget, a 465 or 485 would be at the top of my list for my personal cruising boat. For now, my custom steel BR has to stay at the top of that list! Lol. There’s really nothing left to be desired on one of those boats for equipment, accommodations, stowage, etc. The only thing i would want to change is mainsail to slab reefing or in-boom furling as opposed to in-mast. That’s my only gripe.
@LearnToSailMexico2 жыл бұрын
Oh, and no-boats purchased offshore of US are not subject to any state tax until such time as boat is returned to the US and then specific state “mud”, “luxury”, “property” taxes would apply. As long as they are in MX waters, all that applies is a temp import permit for about $60 good for 10yrs and MX liability insurance. There’s probably no better place in the world to own/operate a boat.

There's a lot of jealous people in here that can only afford older Beneteaus and Hunters I guess. I really like the IP 420. One thing I was wondering though is about the chainplates.
