had to handpick My Hyperion gen 3 to get the grit on both sides. It really is a roll of the dice buying online. I feel like my game is way better coming from playing the gear box power. A great blend of power and control.

High twistweight means it will move in your hand less and be more stable. And the scorpeus 16 has the highest twistweight out of all the gen 3s. So it should be the most stable
@ThePicklePulse6 ай бұрын
Appreciate it Doug, i had a total Brain fart as I was taping! Even though the Scorpeus should feel the most stable, it certainly doesn’t to me. I’ve added some lead tape to mine and I’m playing tonight, I’ll let you know if it helps. 💪

@@ThePicklePulse interesting! I’ve only tried just the gen 3 scorpeus 16, but to me it felt stable. I look forward to adding some weight and getting the twistweight over 7. And I also look forward to comparing it to the other models.

if I tend to hit along the edges a lot, should I skip these gen 3 Joolas?

Drill on a wall and you’ll get better at hitting the sweet spot! I would skip these expensive paddles. Plenty of really good paddles for less!

Twist weight and sweet spot on the Colin Johns is one of the best on the market out of the box. Upper 90%ile, I wouldn’t consider this a skip

The best? For me personally the go to all around paddle for my skill level 3.5. My club I play rec at now has each of the new Gen 3s bought by different members and I tried all of them over the last week. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!! Thanks Joola for the Scorpeus. Grit test?? I don’t care, I play rec.

What was the circumference of handle? I heard they run bigger than the advertised 4.25. Im hesitant to pull trigger to buy one bc of that.

I have one. 4.25. Supper thin grip.

@jimzimmerman5288 great, that helps with my decision, how is the control? Did you get the 16 or 14mm? Did you ever play with the gen 2 scorpeus?
@ThePicklePulse6 ай бұрын
Mine came in at 4 3/8, so it was 1/8” larger than it should be. I found this paddle to be far easier to control than the Magnus, that paddle is a cannon! Don’t forget that all the Gen. 3 paddles will get more poppy with time.

Is the grit going to wear off with time?and lose is spin
@ThePicklePulse6 ай бұрын
I know that the last Joola’s, (Gen. 1 and 2) lost their grit after about 3-6 months depending on how often you play. I hope these will last a bit longer, but I doubt it.

Rule 2.E.6.f apparently means nothing. How can pickleball be taken seriously if they won't even enforce their own rules? This isn't good for the game TBH
@ThePicklePulse6 ай бұрын
The fact that Joola is advertising the “trampoline effect” , which it clearly states is illegal, is crazy. I’m really interested to see if the PPA or MLP will enforce the rule at their next event.

Ahh yes, the marketing aspect of pickleball (the Joola commercial ad is ick). Power, spin, control - you can have it all. But you need lead tape... but don't use lead. what are you wearing for shoes? ... and this 300 dollar bag is the absolute best !! Wait there's a rule book ?
