I have the K2 and I like it a lot. It does take some coffee for it to be seasoned fully but now it's quite consistent. You're going to want to attach the white o-ring on the crank handle and remove the black one from the lid (it's meant to be used with a drill as well).

Thanks for the tip! I hope I still have that o ring. I tried the drill and it didn’t work! I know why now. I really do like it as well. It is better than the encore and the grinding doesn’t take long for pourovers and even light roast. But espresso…I better find that o ring.

@@everyday-beans I think I read that it's not that great for espresso because it takes a while to grind. My K2 takes between 40-50 seconds on medium roasts but it does have a larger 48mm burr. Drill mode can be hit or miss because it only works with a specific torque I think, I've only used it as a hand grinder.

Yeah. It works for espresso. But you are really close to maxing it out on the finest setting for a light roast. So if you do mostly medium or dark roast you should be fine. But damn the hand grinding isn’t a joke for espresso. I have the K6, too, mainly for espresso. It’s better for espresso but it’s the same handle length so it could be some work from time to time on a light roast.

@@everyday-beans I think they are the bent down slightly longer handles! I've gotten used to it so it's not a big deal anymore and I only do espresso once a day. But I think even if someone's buying it just for filter it's still quite good. And if you wanted it to be higher clarity you can slow feed it by holding it at an angle while grinding.
@everyday-beans2 ай бұрын
Higher clarity?! It grinds differently to the point where the coffees have more clarity with the tilt at an angle?

Hand grinders came to market when the electric machines started at $500 or so. Not even a year ago, out came the DF-54 for $229 which largely negated the hand-grinder. I bought a K-6 earlier this year. I used it daily for 9 months but it broke. A few weeks ago I got the DF-54 and it produces a far better cuppa than the handgrinder.

You bring up a good point. I’ve been liking my experience with the hand grinders but I do not look forward to when the hand grinders due fail. I’m not in the same situation as others in the coffee industry to where my play grinder is a EK 43. When it comes to coffee, are you saying that if people are serious about coffee they should atleast look into the DF-54?
@SunriseLAW26 күн бұрын
@@everyday-beans Unless: 1) you make espresso using an espresso machine or 2) are a coffee snob then the DF-54 is overkill, but so is the Kingrinder. For almost everyone else, a cheap electric grinder ($20 new, $5 at a thrift store) works just fine.

I mean considering that the k6 completes with 200$ hand grinders and those compete with 500$ electric yes it is

Yes. I have to agree. I am liking my experience with the K2 and K6. However, doing espresso with the hand grinder isn't easy. I may have to use my drill. But since I don't do espresso all the time, I'm happy with my purchase so far.

Haha, I could do this with perhaps any kind of handgrinder, just mess up the dial to a high value and then play on, showing off the rest of the gear while sipping on the "pretty bad" brew. It was fun to watch it, but did not learn much about the Kin Grinder, ... or is that King Rinder? :P Peace!
@everyday-beans2 ай бұрын
Hello! I take your point. It was no type of trying to figuring out the grinder on my take. It was really just the first introduction to the grinder and I still stand behind that the instructions aren't the best. I've been experimenting with it for the past month or so since I've gotten it and will share my findings in videos to come. I will say, it is tons better than the cheap grinder I tested awhile back and I do prefer it over the Baratza grinder that I now use alot less compared to the Kin Grinder or King Rinder. LOL. I'm not sure, too. I appreciate your take.
