Is the Laowa 9MM the best lens for wedding photographers at a wedding reception?!

There are soooooo many lenses out there that we as wedding photographers can choose from, so, which camera lenses are really worth it? Well, when it comes to capturing epic dance floor photos at a wedding reception, theres only one I can truly suggest to all wedding photographers!

Hi! It worked out great! I have a xt4 with the 18mm 1.4 combo with the godox v350, but I find the reaction time when you press the shutter and the time when it takes the photo a little slo….like a milli second. Do you also have that? The photos turned out great, so thanks for the great tips man!

Awesome pictures. How the heck are dance pictures not blurry at 30 shutter though

Light is what freezes the frame. So if he uses a flash, he could have his shutter for as low as 1 second and whatever was illuminated will be sharp and bright. Also, with daylight you can have a shutter about as low as your focal length without camera shake. 1/9th of a second shutter won't be blurry unless your subject is moving.

About the lens, being a manual lens, I thought it won't be suitable for a party. But what focus distance did you set it to? And what aperture did u use to make sure everyone in the foreground is in focus?

Hi Phil! Love your videos! Thank you. Thank God you much better now. I am coming from Canon to Fuji and looking at starting with X-S10 Model for Studio/Location Portraits and some weddings. Is this a good model to start with?. I plan to get two bodies and the sigma trio lenses with either the Fuji 23 or Viltrox 23mm

Hi from Spain, I thought 9mm would have more distortion, have you cropped any of them?. I use 35mm and shoot inside the party, maybe instead of 50-70cm like you, I shoot 1 or 1,5 meters that is not very far from the people and I still can see more people on the frame. I think it depends on how you use the lens. You use it very well. One of my second shotter sometimes uses 20mm lens and peoples faces in the corners for me are not good. So I dont understand how you dont get more distortion on 9 mm... I see very straight lines. For me looks like a 24mm crop more like a 9mm, maybe it is because flashed is zoomed something from 20-to24mm. Actually I am rewatching and in 12:42 this guy has an arm bigger than his body hehe.

Thanks so much for tuning in. No I do not crop. That is one of the magical things about this lens on a fuji body. On a non crop sensor it would be like a 12mm I think, no distortion. Even at 35 I think we miss a lot of whats actually happening in a party. people dance with their whole bodies, not just their faces, so getting the whole spectrum is key for me.
