I was asked to talk about what is in my camera bag so I did a full breakdown on the gear I own, how I use it and why. I wanted to make sure i explained why I make certain choices and show what I create with them. I also shoot various kinds of photo and video so I share the set ups of each.
SIDE NOTE I FORGOT TO MENTION: I have bought most my lenses USED! This has saved a ton and allowed me to add more to the line up!

Hi Phil, your set up is the natural result that is obtained through common sense systematically applied. But I think that the most valuable equipment is the one between the camera's viewfinder and the back of your head. You are inspirational to many from different perspectives! Go on! 10x

For ceremony and first look, Yes. The 90 doesn't really do much video work outside of that unless its a close up and then I am using manual focus for sure. its such a tight focal length, I don't want to risk the subject stepping out of focus.

Love your videos, I’m so glad I found your channel! I’d love to pick your brain on something. I shoot professionally , doing studio portraits, personal branding photos and headshots. Occasionally I shoot pin up and boudoir. Im currently shooting on the XT3 and X100V. I love both. I’m especially loving the X100V! Considering adding a third camera as backup, and I’m likely going to be getting the XT4 but also curious about the XPRO 3, especially since I am loving the rangefinder style of the X100. Like you, I’m very concerned with weight and keeping light as I have neck and back issues. Is the XT4 that much heavier than the XT3? Any thoughts on that?

Very nice video and photos, how many camera bodies do you use on a wedding day for pohoto? you change the lens often or you have two bodies on you? Are the photos cropped by the video aspect ratio? very often the feets are cutted (in the 16mm 2.8 lens for example)

so only when I am doing commercial work where time is not a factor, i bounce back and forth. For some elopements, like the bride with the tattoos, I did photo and decided to surprise them and put together a video as well and just set up cameras and at times bounced back and forth during portrait time. On bigger projects I hire people from my team, but every photo and clip I show in these videos, are solely my work.

Philiiiiiiip...thank you thank you thank you...I want to get the fuji x-t4 now that all the other cameras are out, I just love fuji’s colour profiles straight out of the camera, and I had no idea what lenses to buy. I would like for a petition to start for the camera manufacturers just to put the correct numbers on the lense, so I don’t have to think about the full-frame equivalence. 16-55 is excellent, but I have to do the math to figure out its actually 24 ish -80 ish...Why can’t they just come out with the correct numbers? I don’t care about them being compared to full frame just as full frame is not compared to medium and large formats.

Thank you for the roadmap. It’s easier now. I would take the kit 18-55 and a Tele lens because my main focus will be landscape and cityscape. With a lot of video in between. Mostly KZbin or online courses and I think the AF won't be a huge issue.

@sl3vin_
@sl3vin_ 3 жыл бұрын
Phillip Porto inside groom/bride’s house and church. Considering to use a safe shutter speed of 1/250-200 to get sharp images I do really have to rise up my iso over 3200 and when I touch 6400 the files are not great losing color and details. I go down to 1/125 when the subject is still for example during make up so I save iso there but to keep the reportage wedding service less intrusive as possible with very very little posing I need to stuck with shutter speed around 1/200.
@philporto

@@sl3vin_ Church's are always a pain, but honestly, i shoot those as is. when a bride is walking down the aisle, i dont mind using a video light in a church that i just hold in my hand of attach to the shoe mount. Church's say no flash, they never mention a light and i just do it. For the house, thats just not good choices on where you are shooting honestly. You should always find window light. Make up, we make all our brides do it near a window light, no bathrooms or dark rooms. Its just a matter of educating your couples ahead of time. Awesome video. I’m only a cashed up hobbyist who has similar lenses and bodies including the XT-4, XT-3, XT-30 and GFX50R. I do the odd family event now including weddings and get feedback on my work. Used to get stressed but I have a routine similar to yours for my family weddings and events. Can always give decent stills and video work that exceeds family expectations just by my lonesome. I just need to focus on being creative and trying new things while still delivering. Heaps of fun. I on;y came to say this and subscribe, but you sucked a question out of me re the GFX50R near the end. The 45 mm was my first lens, and then later I grabbed the 63 mm. Which is your preference once you’ve spent time with both? I love what I get from both think the 45 mm is a little snappier to focus and for generally handling. Do you agree? Will end with a recommendation. Try the GF50 mm. It is the closest you will find to my old Canon favourite, the EF 40 mm pancake. Seriously, this combo? My everyday camera! It’s light for the performance. Quick to focus, more than sharp enough. Let’s you crop tight thanks to all those megapixels. Can’t not quite fit in your pocket but who cares when you can shoot street and family with it on the go with that amazing image quality and dynamic range. All the best for this refreshing channel mate. Cheers from Australia.

Thanks so much for following along. I do enjoy the 45 so far, but one thing I wish it had was better bokeh. But i have used the 63 before and enjoy the bokeh of that and it gets in today! I also really loved using the 110, and want to one day own that one but Id love to try the 50. Gotta convince fuji to let me try it haha. Where can I see your work!? And I agree, always finding new ways to get creative, keeps the fire going. Especially as many weddings as I shoot, I have to try new things to keep it fresh and not feel repetitive.
