Greeting! First off, great channel I enjoy all the content! I am a 43yo man who's wanted a bike almost my entire life! After living through this crazy pandemic I realized life is too short. I would just like to say that the 2020 Lowrider S is my first bike ever. My past experience on a bike is only about 2 days on a dirt bike in an open field. I've only been riding this bike for about a month but I am a VERY conservative driver and even more conservative rider. Also, prior to riding and getting licensed I successfully completed a Basic Riders Course. After playing on this bike one afternoon I can see why many people would say its too much for a new rider but you hit the nail on the head with your comment "You have to respect this bike!" AGAIN GREAT CHANNEL!!!

I started out with car building and racing through my teens after I hit 30 I rode around for about a week on my buddies ninja 650 with very little experience with dirt bikes. I got a 2024 low rider s and that 117 is wicked. But I’m also 31 so I’m chilled. I’ve had it about 4 months now and ride every day and still the power surprises me. I have gasoline in my blood and it still gives me a great rush. If you’re older I would say yeah this could be your first bike but try to get a friend or something to help you learn the ins and outs of motorcycles or take the motorcycle safety course and then get it. I also have family with Harley my grand dad is 73 and rides his springer screaming eagle with me multiple times a week so he kinda keeps me in check if I get reckless. Just get on two wheels and put your knees in the breeze. Riding is a cure for my mental health for sure.
@marksantos13965 жыл бұрын
The FXLRS is the 1st bike I’ve owned & that’s after 20 years of being off them.. I did do a rider safety course as a refresh & couple of rentals on street glides & a road glide. Personally I agree with most people on the thread that say it’s not really a matter of the bike but more of the rider and their maturity & skill level So far I have just under 4000 miles on it I find it to be one of the most responsive Harley Davidson that I’ve ever ridden and very easy to control. I love the bike.. yes I was pleased with power and performance as it came however what’s the point of owning a Harley if you don’t modify it? So far I have taken it up to stage two. Did the S&S pro street two into one and all the tuners. I’d say if this bike is what you want just make sure you take a course and ride smart.. I really don’t see the point in buying multiple bikes to end up getting the one you really want

Agreed. My first bike was a 48 Sporty. I got tired of having to stop constantly for gas (I had a 2.1 Peanut tank, all my friends had 5 gallon tanks) and I was bored with it. I wanted something more and I saw a Lowrider S at HD and fell in love. The power caught me by surprise but I loved it. My dad who rode a Indian RoadMaster and has ridden for 20+ years at the time decided to take it for a spin when I wasn’t home, thinking the bike wouldn’t be all that. Well I came home and he told me he’s thankful my seat has a big lip on it because otherwise he woulda flown off of it. 😂

The absolute best riders with real riding skills are the ones who started riding dirt bikes off road, motocross, Flat track, TT, or just trail riding.. I always say, I learned my riding skills In the dirt and racing, but learned to survive on the streets. Just because someone buys a big powerful motorcycle it sure doesn’t mean they REALLY know how to ride and have command over it! Especially in emergency situations when sudden maneuvers are required and experience is the difference between life and death! I seen many young children that have been dirt riding a long time, broad sliding, power sliding, jumping, maneuver over logs, rocks and other obstacles who have much better riding skills then most riders who been street riding all their life.. so no, a Lowrider S definitely would not be a good bike to learn on for a unskilled rider. They need to learn the dynamics of throwing a motorcycle around in the dirt first and the mental skills, if they want to survive! And that’s no guarantee you will survive some idiot texting and talking on their phone.

Bought an 883 right out of DMV after getting my M license. During trainings and exam I rode naked bikes that are much lighter and have smaller engines - so the result was 2 tip overs during speed less than 5 mph on uneven pavement riding the 883 because I wasn't used to that additional 150-200 lbs of the Harley. Heavier vehicles requires more refined techniques for sure. I did not ride at all back then except in training because I didn't have a bike. So I'd say if you have a bike to practice with - borrowed, leased, or simply spent more hours on advanced training courses - and have enough time on the bike, go after the one you like after getting the license. But if you're like me with no experience other than basic lessons just to pass the exam in one try so to get the license as quickly as possible, don't go for something too heavy to control unless you don't mind a few scratches on the paint - although economically speaking, touching up the paint is a lot cheaper than trading in a learner bike.

Very easy bike to ride. My GF who has been riding only for 4 years and has been riding a street 500 ride my FXLRS stage 2 very easily, she says its easier to ride than the 500. She is 5’2 and 55 kg. She’s says it steadier in the corners and great brakes. Not for first time riders but need 2 or 3 years experience but as big twin goes very easy.

I've been saying for years: age makes for different types of 'beginners'. If you want to buy a first bike for a 16 year old, a 250cc is great. They can't be trusted with much power, and they lack car driving experience to understand how the road works and how to build reflexes. For a grown adult, a Harley Softail isn't a bad bike. Just know your limits, don't get cocky, and recognize that the machine has more capability than you do as a rider. If a Sportster isn't too small for your body, starting on that will help you to advance more quickly in understanding throttle control and maneuvering.

Like you said decent weight bike too much speed into a corner then not knowing how to turn it in properly. Takes several 1000 miles of riding to be a good rider imo. I've only got 3500ish or so miles of experience in on 3 different bikes and still consider myself just an 5 out of 10 on the experience ladder. A person that is responsible and fairly skilled quick at picking things up could learn on one, but definitely not best start for the majority on softail line. Sportster may be too heavy for some as well, but still easier than softail.
@defiantone30194 жыл бұрын
As a rider. You need to ride to your skill set. Most riders, ride on the weekends only. The more you ride the better you will get. Has to do more with your confidence as a rider, and understanding your limits of the bikes capabilities. Knowing your limits will keep you out of the sticks on the twisters. So get the bike you want and just learn how to ride it.

“Pounds-feet of torque” or “foot-pounds of torque” not “pounds of foot-torque”. “Foot-torque” is not a force. “Torque” is the force, “foot-pounds” or “pounds-feet” is the quantity (measurement) of that force. Please read this wiki on the subject: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foot-pound_(energy)

This debate comes up a lot with all the nice bikes and the answer is always the same, no. Can a beginner ride it? Yes, but you won't be able to enjoy the full extent of it anytime soon. Throttle control, lean angle and judgement of the power and speed will take time to adjust and you want to be concentrating on the dangers of the road not worrying about dropping an expensive bike. The more weight and power of the bike the less forgiving any mistakes are. Get a street bob its cheaper, its lighter, more agile, slightly less power but has better handling and is more noob friendly. Thats the entry level soft-tail. The Low Rider S is a great bike but too much for a noob.
