That is a great color for a studio and not something you see too often. Studios don't have the same mojo as a standard or custom because they don't have the history/artist associations those other models do but they are still great. Got all the people these days putting 800+ for purchase/upgrades of a Chibson and I don't understand why they wouldn't instead just get a studio to fill the Les Paul itch. Something in a fairly unique color like this one or one of the studios out there with good woodgrain showing in the top are killer and can hold their own with the more expensive models both in appearance and sound.

Completely agree, it’s just a plain clothes Les Paul.

Your pole piece readings are correct. Humbuckers are typically wired so the slug coils will hum-cancel with each other and iikewise with the screw coils, so the neck and bridge will be reversed in that regard. What a beautiful guitar!

Thank you!

binding and inlays dont change sound. its your amp settings that would make that guitar sound better especially at louder levels.

I own a 2016 LP Studio HP in Vintage Sunburst. Same electronics as yours but with the Axcess neck joint and the Titanium Zero Fret nut. Weighs in at a shade under 9 lbs. It's fitted with Grover Tuners ATM but I also have the G-Force Tuners (which I actually think work great). It's an absolute joy to play and produces all those 'classic LP tones' (instant Gary Moore..) with a bit of use of the Tone knobs. Sustains for days too. IMO it's even better than my 2018 LP Standard HP2 or my 2015 LP Less+. My Standard is fitted with Burstbucker Pro's and rather brighter sounding than I expected (some might say it's more 'versatile'). It's a beauty but keep reaching for the Studio... The Less+ is tonally even more typical LP due to the Alnico 2 '57 Classic pups. The wider neck and single Tone Knob on the 2015 models aren't to everyone's tastes. I love it but, again, it's the Studio that I pick up most often

I'd love to try some of the G-Force tuners. I know everyone hated them but they seem like they might be pretty cool.

Some of the best Les Pauls I’ve played have been Studios. Extra binding or fancier inlays don’t mean a better guitar.

I've had a LP Classic, a Custom Shop 56 LP Goldtop, a LP standard from the early 90s, several high end Tokai LPs which are fantastic, and two Studios...to my ear there is minimal if any sound difference between Studios and any of the rest, the difference is mostly cosmetic. Studios are the best bang for the buck around, fab guitars

Agreed!

I cringe sometimes when people say that this guitar isn't a "real" Les Paul. It's shaped like one, sounds like one and says Gibson Les Paul on the headstock. I've had 4 including the one I have now and also I had a first year 1983 Studio Custom. I just can't see taking an instrument that costs $3k+ out to a gig and banging it around. That's why I use them. I don't use the pickup split. It turns the pickups into something that almost sounds acoustic but with gain they go murky and dark. Love that blue with the cream. Good review!

Thanks for the input and I tend to agree with the coil split, I don't think I ever really use it on any of my guitars.

I draw the line at the studio. Its the tributes and fadeds that “aren’t real”

I have one of those ‘Not a Real Gibson’ 2008 Studio models. It has that janky, full chambered, light weight tone but plays easily & I finger pick all the time. Suits me for the the simple blues I like to play. You real players should probably spend the money it takes to get the real thing.

Hell I don't even need a Gibson with my level of playing. An import guitar from Amazon is capable of more than I could ever do with it!

@@olddogguitars23 😂 I edited the word “You” so as not to have my comment appear directed at anyone in particular! Not needing a high end guitar is an indication of player skill. It’s not the guitar, it’s the hands. 😁
