Yes I do! They are naturally 16:10 aspect ratio so it has good vertical space.

So someone local has a MacBook Pro 16 M1 with 32Ram/512SSD for $2200 CAD vs Base 16 M2 Pro for 2600 CAD both brand new should I go for the older one and save a little or future proof myself for an extra year or two?

The RAM upgrade alone might be worth it for the M1 Pro model. Also keep in mind the base M2 Pro model has a slower SSD than the base or upgraded version of the M1 Pro.

M1 Pro 14” is still crazy fast even now. Upgrading from a 2016 is a huge upgrade! You won’t regret it. Plus you’ll find the M1 Pro 14” on sale frequently now

No if you need a MacBook Pro get one now. The differences between the M1 Pro and the M3 Pro will be noticeable but not life changing. Get the computer you need now and M1 Pro will last you many more years to come.

I did not get AppleCare (though I do take care of my devices more than the average person). I got the base model M1 Pro 14" and I am super happy with it (I store and edit my work off of external SSDs).

@@Tristendo64 thanks. I do have one more question. Should I upgrade the ram to 32gb or upgrade the storage to 1tb for the device to have a longer lifespan overtime. I’m a computer science student by the way. I intend to use the machine for as many years as possible

@@colin6711 upgrade the RAM. You can always work off an external SSD for more storage like I do if needed but can never upgrade the RAM.

I think it depends on what you prioritize more (if you need more power vs thin and light laptop) but for a similar price I would still go with the M1 Pro 14". It has a Mini LED display, better GPU performance, 120hz pro motion, way more ports, and fans for extensive workloads + the difference in size and weight isn't so much that it is a dealbreaker in my opinion.

I just bought a brand new one for £1600 with 16gb of ram, though I’m starting to think I should have gone for 32gb because I’ll be doing video editing from my mavic 3 drone, 16 may struggle using software like Final Cut.

I edit my drone footage all the time and 16 GB seems to be fine but I’m the kind of person that closes other applications when working on programs like Final Cut Pro.

I’ve had a MacBook Air M1 since 2021…but I bought it from my buddy that didn’t use it more than twice and it only has 8gb of RAM. And if it had 16gb of RAM I probably wouldn’t be contemplating getting a MacBook Pro M1 Pro. Having 8gb of even Mac made, just isn’t enough. I want to start recording music again so I’ll need the Pro with 16gb of RAM and it’ll last me 3-4 years more than likely. My last MacBook Pro lasted 4+ years before the M silicon was out, it was a 2017 MacBook Pro with an Intel i7 3.0ghz base/3.7ghz overclocked and 16gb of RAM. It was a great computer for what it was but definitely M silicon all the way, I’m buying one of these in the next month. I’ve seen certified refurbs for 1350-1400 and that’s sure to go down when the M3’s come out later this year. So I might wait depending on the talk of it going down even more to 1250-1300 cause that’s a steal for a M1 Pro MacBook Pro with 16gb of unified RAM.

I just bought a 14” MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 512GB SSD & 16GB RAM off and of eBay for $1275. The crazy thing is that it only has 10 cycles with 100% battery life. The previous owner only used it a handful of times, and it’s in pristine condition! What a steal. Edit: I forgot to mention that I’m upgrading from a 13” 2013 MacBook Pro with 256GB SSD, and 8GB of RAM, so I’m hoping I’ll notice a huge difference in performance 🤞🏼

If it's any consolation, the new iOS and MacOS update allows you to use the higher quality iPhone cameras as your webcam during video calls on your Mac.

It's almost like the dust is only visible when in bright lighting 😭 I keep it in a sleeve that has microfiber in the inside so the dust is unavoidable. I clean every chance I get :)
