The maths doesn’t add up to the existence of a 55 foot shark that preferred warmer surface waters of the tropical and subtropical miocene/pliocene eras.

It’s not likely, because we already would have found them. Megalodons are surface dwelling sharks, that feed on large things like whales. There’s no way a Megalodon would survive in a trench or whatever.
