I got a full tank of gas yesterday in my 2021 MT07 and discovered roads that I never even existed, so close to me. I spent several great hours riding. It was such a sole full filling day.

I have a 2021 MT-09 too. Instead of using the gas gauge, you can use the fuel consumption option in the instrument selection menu. It is much more accurate.

@@vireshh1059 I have heated grips, windprotectors in front of my levers, good laminated Gore-Tex clothing with removable insulation, Gore-Tex gloves with and without heating. Temperatures can drop as low as -10 degrees celcius.

OC: I had a feeling it would do really well it's a great all around bike. But you are spot on with the suspension not being set up for daily commute riding... but it's not hard to make it soft during the week and stiffen it up on the weekends for those spirited rides on the back roads. Just write down how many clicks and that way you know exactly how many clicks to set it back.

Yes, I have owned one for several months so I agree with everything you have said. The suspension is a little harsh over the bigger bumps and a screen helps massively. Overall the new MT09SP is a great do everything bike. I can’t wait for your thoughts of it in the mountains, I know it’s awesome and I bet you must have found the same.

You know that the average consumption is 5 litres/100 km. So the range is 280 km. Starting with a full tank, you know that you should start looking for a gas station at the 200 km mark😉

OC: yes I knew it was going to be good. I have the base model because it’s impossible to find the sp in the north east. I’m 5’6” 285lbs and I’m so in love with it. I feel like when I was a new rider all over again. I find every excuse to ride it. I can’t remember the last time I rode in the 30’s on a bike without wind protection and I’ve already done it twice in the past week. I can ride it for longer and be more comfortable than on my softail so that’s how confident I was that you’d like it because that bike has the bonus of cruise control

OC Fell in love when i testrode one and almost immediately ordered one after the ride. Its was a huge change coming from the godfather of MT, the MT01 but im loving every second on my sp Highway with a screen makes a huge difference. I got the touring screen from the weekend pack and it really helped out alot with the wind

The headwind will be exactly the same it will feel absolutlely no different riding it in a straight line. it has superioir suspension compenents if you don't enjoy twisty roads or track days this would be a pointless upgrade.

I just bought a 23 SP yesterday! Best 25 miles I've have on any vehicle yet!!! Love every bit of it. Definitely needs a windscreen and fender eliminator which are on the way!

I've never seen a windscreen that looks good on a naked bike that a) that doesn't blow a ton of turbulent wind up under my helmet or b) blow a ton of turbulent air at the top / sides of my helmet or c) doesn't do anything at all. Give me all of that good clean air! Or, you know, maybe if I get to the point when I'm 75 years old where I absolutely can't stand to have some wind blow on me, I'd probably just get a bike that was designed to have a proper functional windscreen and fairing.

I love my 2016 Yamaha FZ09. I adjusted the stock suspension and made it firmer then stock. It’s not as pogo E, Pogostick. Just have to get used to the suspension. I live in Las Vegas and really don’t do that much highway miles. My FZ09 is just like a steroid out supermoto

likewise I got a 2016 but I got Wilbers rear and fork suspension and it makes a world of a difference! still ride it everyday! Just bought a Power Vision 3 From Dynotune, mann does that make a difference in the throttle response!

OC: between 500 and 600 miles, the suspension will adjust to your body weight. It won’t be aggressive/harsh anymore, it will be sporty firm and accurate. The Yamaha screen makes a whole lot of difference. I have the same bike.

That is not how suspension components work... yes the oil breaks down and needs proper servicing depending on how often you ride. You are supposed the adjust the suspension to your riding style and weight depending on the adjustments you have.

@@alexduey7868 unfortunately, I did not adjust nothing. My head stopped vibrating in my helmet after a while. come to think of it, there is no manual for adjusting your weight and ride style with your suspension setting, it is all trial and error.

I have a Duke 390 and used to have the power restricted version of the MT07 (limited to 52hp). I'm thinking about getting the MT09 SP. I would get an MT07 or XSR700 but the suspension sucks so I just think the MT09 SP is a better buy even if it means I have to save some more money.

Giving a subjective rating is perfectly valid, but recently the videos have been lacking comparisons with other bikes. Therefore, without being reminded of your preference during rides it is impossible to have a personal reference for you score of 9. Could you test MT07 and 09 with windscreen, at least the middle one? Otherwise it does not make much sense to test them on highways, where everyone uses windscreens anyway.

I don't have an issue with the gas gauge , I always refuel my vehicle at around 3/8 tank and if I go on a trip I am aware of roughly how far I have travelled since the last fill.

My XSR900 is fun to commute on BUT, this cruise control added to it would make me very happy because I struggle not speeding when commuting primarily and would consider my bike too sporty for commuting in the fact that I have a really hard time not speeding. lol. Cruise control would allow me to set it and leave it alone at 80 or less like you did.

@@TypicalMT wheelies are so easy with both the 07 and 09 (easiest on the 09). The 09sp just feels better in every way, better riding position, wide handlebars, ohlins suspension which is amazing once youeve adjusted it properly, more power and torque, and you get that amazing 3 cylinder whine from the engine. Plus so far fuel economy has been about 45mpg for me. On the 07 i was averaging 55mpg.

What's i've noticed riding my 21 mt-09, up to half (big bar) is about 80 miles and little ones is about 20 miles per. I usually get about 140 miles full tank on 91(CA) gas filling up 3.34ish gallon.

no fairing for long road trip would kinda suck and i would have adjusted those clickers right away........soften up compression 3 or 4 clicks......actually first thing is to make sure they are in the standard setting to begin with......be surprised how bikes ive bought where clickers werent even close to the factory stock setting.........suspension is the make or break for any motorcycle.....its the first thing i start messing around with

So, think this could make a bike for occasional long trips? a windscreen, Soften the suspension and throw on some sadlebags? I'd think so. I had a bike with similar Ohlins (I believe these are similar to my R1M) and I could make it where the suspension would be good enough for riding in the city, just that that bike didn't care to be riden "calmly" (ig to got, etc), but then I could stiffen it up for aggressive riding/track days. Looking now for a Naked bike, and between this (SP version), XSR900, and MT-10 are my top choices now. I want a sporty bike that will commute and be good for the occasional trip or track day (rather than have two bikes)

I have a 2023 MT 09 SP, you can't use full throttle in 1st 2nd or 3rd even in ride mode 3 with traction/lift control 2. These bikes are too fast, too wheelie prone and too twitchie for street use. It will exceed the hiway speed limits in 1st gear. Definitely go with the 07.

The king of highways for the price is my Kawasaki Concours with an ATLAS MOD for cruise control wind protection with is huge fairing electronic ajustable windscreen 1400 cc 158 hp and 137 nm of torque 101lbft its a missile on the highway and for commute in town with is inline 4 engine its smooth i can do 50 kmh in 6 gears with no problem.

How come you don't use indicators when changing lanes? It might save your life one day if you get in the habit of letting those around you know what you're doing.

{Incoming noob question} Had a 150 cc SCOOTA, lol for awhile, took MSF course. Would MT 09 sp be possible to start.. tamable, riding in low modes for several months, etc. I intend on highway riding and disappearing into the mountains when I'm comfortable 3-4 hours away - or go with MT 07 ? Peace !

My bike has range of 500km (310miles) and something. So if I want to burn all my gas it is super long day of riding. So the feeeling you are talking about is so much more powerfull :D
