UPDATE: So after using this pad for a few months now, I can confirm it is indeed and excellent sleeping pad. It's kept me warm and I've had zero issues with deflation. I can highly recommend this pad to anyone looking for something to keep them nice and toasty throughout the colder months. 👌

Could it be used as an all season pad?
@trickofthetrail4 ай бұрын
@@nitrasoumetho8992 Yes, it certainly could be, however this would really depend on how cold/warm you sleep. You might find it a bit too warm for the summer months. It's not so much of a concern here in the UK, but in warmer climes, it might not be the most comfortable. I personally have a warmer weather pad (Big Agnes Zoom UL) to compliment this one in warmer weather. If you don't go out in really cold conditions, you might be better suited to the Tensor All-Season Pad. That will see you through all the seasons. I hope that helps.

Looks great! Any comments on the updated valve? My Nemo Tensor failed mysteriously and I suspect it is some aspect of the design. I see that they are putting this new valve on the new pads and I'm wondering if that is the fix. Thanks
@trickofthetrail11 ай бұрын
Hey Jeff. The valve seems fine to me, although I didn't have any issues with my Tensor Insulated valve. All the problems I had were with the baffles. I'll keep an eye on it and report back how I get on when I do a full review. But so far, so good. 👍
@jeffsellenrick663511 ай бұрын
@@trickofthetrail maybe it was the baffles on mine, I don't know. No visible evidence of a problem yet it won't hold air, and it was babied. Lasted maybe 4 nights. Anyways they are replacing it on warranty so I will see what happens!

Hope you have more luck with this pad! I've been eying up the Ether light XT after hearing this wasn't quite as comfortable as the tensor but with the winter we seem to be having the extra R value seems to edge it out, look forward to seeing how you get on with it
@trickofthetrail Жыл бұрын
Thanks Nick. So do I. The Etherlight XT Extreme is more comfy for sure, but this isn't bad. Got a couple of dead arms in the middle of the night, but I also did with Tensor Insulated. Its big win is in its warmth, weight and pack size. I'll do an update at the end of the winter, but just drop me a message if you want an update before then. 👍🏼

Hi, thanks for the breakdown - super useful! The Nemo pad seems pretty amazing - have you had more nights out with it? I am between the Nemo and Thermarest, but the R-value and potential comfort are nudging me towards the Nemo pad.
@trickofthetrail10 ай бұрын
Hello Philipp, thanks for watching mate. Glad you found the video useful. Yeah I've been out for a few more nights with it and am out again this weekend. I've not had any deflation issues, although in very cold temperatures it does seem to go down a little bit, but once you top it up it doesn't go back down. I think it's all just to do with temperature change, so nothing to worry about. The comfort is very good too. Not the most comfy pad I've used, but it's not bad at all. You'll find it much more comfy than the Thermarest and less noisy. Hope that's the extra nudge you need. 😁

I love the new Nemo pad! Mine seemed to have lost air the other night and I’m wondering if you have an update on it being temp related or if there was a leak. I baby my gear so I’m hoping it’s just the change in temp.

I’ve been thinking this pad or the Big Agnes Rapide SL. I had hoped the zoom would be the answer but have watched a few not so good reviews.
@trickofthetrail11 ай бұрын
I really like the Zoom, it's uber comfy and is lightweight. However it's no good for cold weather. It'll be my warmer weather pad, but I'll be sticking with the Nemo Tensor Extreme for everything else. I have heard good things about the Rapide SL, but never tried it.

So hard for me to trust air mats! Used to have an exped but was just rolling off it… Currently using self inflating therma rest mats, women’s trail lite (all family using this model, very good) and the smallest pro lite. The good old therma rest base camp is on my wish list, together with some sort of pack animal to transport it😊
@trickofthetrail Жыл бұрын
Yeah, air mats do make me nervous, especially as I've had some bad experiences with them. I do a have foam mat, which for some of the warmer months I occasionally use. Whilst not as comfy I do like the peace of mind that it's not going deflate. Plus I like the convenience of it. Shame it's so bulky. I've got a self inflating Mountain Equipment pad and I find it rather comfy. I use that for when space is at a premium if I'm sharing a tent.
@teutates6193 ай бұрын
Be sure to not inflate an air mat like a tyre... it needs a low pressure, so as to kind of float onto the pad rather. You lay on it and deflate it so your hips just don't touch the bottom when laying on the side. IT makes a huge difference!

Any further problems with the mat losing air?
@trickofthetrail11 ай бұрын
Well. Yes and no. I had it out over the weekend in the Lakes and it did deflate on the first night a bit. This was after I initially blew it up and before going to bed. I then topped it up when I went to bed and it didn't deflate for the remainder of the night. I had zero issues the following evening. I am putting the slight deflation down to changes in the temperature I think. It seems to happen mostly in sub zero temperatures. The second evening wasn't quite as cold, probably 2 degrees or so. I will be keeping an eye on it though.

I have been looking at this pad. Thanks for reviewing it! Is it wide enough that your arms aren’t rolling off? It looks decently wide. I’m very interested to know if you find it keeps losing air. Great video!
@trickofthetrail Жыл бұрын
Hey Shan. Yeah it's quite wide (this is the regular wide version), so I didn't have any problems with my arms falling off it. However, it was so cold outside so I was keeping my arms firmly tucked inside my quilt. 😆 Re the deflation. I inflated the pad when I got home and left it for a couple of days. It did go down a bit, but no more than the normal amount of air that would leak out of a pad over time. I will keep you posted though if I have any issues with it. Because I've had issues with the Tensors before I think I'm a bit paranoid about it.
@PaulandaPack Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, that's a pretty nifty pack size for such a high R value. I'll be really interested to hear how the deflation/air loss is long term. I hope you have better luck with it than your last Nemo! Can you inflate it with a Flextail pump, or is it a pump sack job?
@trickofthetrail Жыл бұрын
Hello matie. Yeah, they warmth to weight ratio is mega. Just fingers crossed I don't have any deflation issues. It seems okay atm, I left it inflated for a couple of days and it only went down a bit. Yeah, you can inflate it with the Flextail pump. However I don't think any of the nozzles fit snuggly into the valve, so you have to hold it in place whilst inflating.
