Super high quality mic! It very much maybe worth the money! There are some mics from Audio Technica that are comparable in quality like the AT4050ST for half the price, but the U87Ai is a great mic.

As compared to TLM, U87ai little loose at mid range and little more crispy at the high end. But both sound great. One must correct his own preams and the talent matters the most. Then you can even sing through a biscuit.

@@princenardie5371 hmm great question, personally the u87ai is a great option for a majority of vocals, its a bit less high end and more of a solid all around mid heavy mic. The Manley on the other hand is a bright high end mic, paired with a colorful preamp such as a bae 1073 it could be quite a powerful combination. one has more of a "modern" clean crisp vibe and if thats what you are going for then id say get the manley. If you want a overall mid heavy mic with solid body then the u87 ai would be your best bet.

I had the same feeling when i tested m, u87 ai it actually captures every Tiny shit in your voice, had a disortion shizoprenia for a week but it Was legit disortion coming from my voice. But idk in this case 50% preamp gain is a lot for a u87 i mostly record on +18db on my apollo without unison.
