Something I noticed regarding headroom when sitting in one at the dealer, is that although a 6' person may have "plenty of headroom" in the drivers seat, not so in the passenger seat. It sits higher than the drivers seat and does not offer vertical adjustment. (Note: this was in a TRD Pro with the sunroof which does reduce headroom somewhat). This may be important to couples that switch seats while on a road trip, or if some of your Ultimate Frisbee buds are over 6' tall and are catching a ride with you to the game

The sunroof is an option. You can also get kdss which you can’t get on a pro. The trd pro is made more for higher speed running where as the Venture , trd off road is more for slower off roading. The trd pro skid plate is also an option for NON KDSS suspension optioned trucks. The 4r is a solid , reliable low tech truck. There really in no other suvs like this. Body on full frame is very rare. This is an actually a true “Sport UTILITY vehicle “.

FWIW, This package is basically a TRD Off Road Premium with a roof basket, wheel upgrade and some window dressing. It's an $1,815 package. TRD wheels cost $1,350 and you can buy this exact roof basket at REI (or wherever) for $450. That's $1,800. I personally would prefer to keep the TRD badging but YMMV.

Around where I live (southern US) I see a lot of TRD Pro 4Runners and Tacomas that are lifted with new suspension. Like..why not just get a cheaper trd off road etc and lift that instead if you're going to be replacing the suspension the TRD pro gives anyways. I guess the decals means a lot; though you can probably get them from ebay as well Some people have a lot of $$ than brain cells lol Great vid joe

Resale value of the pro! Also color options
@mechmat123454 жыл бұрын
A lot of people who lift their vehicles don't off road anyway so they didn't care about the suspension in the first place. There are a couple of options on the TRD Pro that you just can't get on the Off Road, like the JBL sound system and automatic headlights. But most importantly, I don't understand why people care how others spend their money, if they want to pay $5,000 for the Pro badges, that's their prerogative. It doesn't make them stupid or wrong.
@JGstunts224 жыл бұрын
The reason to get this over the pro is you can find these for the same price as an off road premium around 43-44k vs good luck finding a pro for less than 50k they discount the venture rarely discount the PRO . And to me the extra 6k isn't worth the fox shocks . I can put a better suspension with lift aftermarket for 3k

The Venture is nice. I bought one. But - it is not a winter vehicle. By that I mean: Snow - the predator steps fill up with snow and make getting in and out very messy and at times difficult; Power Windows - don’t like the cold and mine will not roll down when -20 (degrees Celsius); Rear defrost - sometimes will not work ( really annoying when snow or frost covered and of course, that means the side view mirrors won’t defrost either) so that brings forward a safety issue. I am told that by fully rolling down the rear window and back up it turns the rear defrost on (tried it, and that does work); and Brake Squeal - when cold and first few brake applications, they will squeal and squeal extremely LOUD - people will turn and look and of course, if you leave for work early, your neighbours will not like you. Other than that, it’s a nice vehicle and I can’t wait for the warmer weather to arrive so I may get to enjoy the vehicle
@redballtrading4 жыл бұрын
In 2020 (or any year for that matter) no 4runner should have to roll down the rear window for the defrost to work. If it does, then there is truly a quirk in the electronics. Also, you gave me another reason not to get the predator steps. LOL
@wolfeyez3004 жыл бұрын
Everyday Is Saturday It is strange - but I have to bring forward two things regarding the rear defrost (from an owner perspective): 1. It does not occur every time, but seems to when needed most; and 2. The dealership advises me that this can occur when the rear wiper does not fully set to its final position. That is true, and nor will the rear window roll down if the wiper does set properly. That makes resolving the rear defrost issue difficult if they tell me to fix it by rolling the window down and back up. Apparently this has been an issue for a few model years according to online forums when I was seeking a resolution. Oh well, maybe I should just move to a warmer climate...

The body-on-frame version of Toyota's global architecture should debut in 2021, and eventually all trucks and body on frame SUVs Toyota makes will be on that platform. That will take several years though, so the 4Runner in it's current state could plausibly be around for 3 or 4 more years. Its not certain whether Toyota will decide to update the 4Runner, replace it with something else, or cancel it completely. Toyota had previously planned to cancel the 4Runner after the 2018 model year but a spike in sales volume saved it.

Why would you give the hood scoop a whatever the silly ass name is you call it?! It is not a functional hood scoop because Toyotas are made to have a sealed engine compartment. If the hood scoop was functional it would create a vortex in the engine compartment and effect the engines ability to function in warm climates. I hope you know Toyota sells more trucks than any other manufacturer and are very common in the middle east desert, Australia, Africa, etc. Also, the starting price of a 4Runner Venture is about $44,000 and the starting price of a TRD Pro is about $51,000! I'm told they get a premium mark up in some areas, as well. The dealers will not move on the price of a TRD Pro so if you want one you will spend the full $51,000!!! I am looking to buy a 4Runner this month and was quoted $40,500 for a Venture. Considering the TRD Pro is over $10,000 more and is only equipped with some higher-end shocks, a heritage grill I can take or leave, some tires that are mediocre, an exhaust that sounds nice for the people behind you and a skid plate most people will never need I will happily hold on to my $10,000! I can add the extra heavy plate (all 4Runners have skid plates just not the fancy TRD one) better tires than the Nitto Grapplers, a cold air intake (more important than the fancy exhaust) and rock sliders all for under $2,500 I think the Venture is a much better choice.

@erosthespacesoldier17124 жыл бұрын
@@lucidmonkey3591 this is the problem many are having now; due to low inventory the dealers are less likely to bargain. I bought my 4Runner in July, it listed for $46,000 and I paid $40,600. You should bargain for dealer invoice minus any incentives that may be in effect at the time, they change every month. Also, I could have gotten mine for under $37,000 if I had financed. I didn't, I paid cash and dealers want you to finance because they make a percentage or two off the interest. I am in a Facebook group for 4Runners and one of the members just bought a 2021 so they are starting to arive at dealers. I honestly don't know what a good price would be on a lease but I advise against it on any car that will last 300,000 plus miles like a 4Runner. They also have a very high resale value so why hand it back in 3 years? Bottom line; if the dealer won't bargain at invoice shop around until you find one who will. Hope this helps.

I'm looking for a replacement for my 2914 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. I really want to like the Limited 4Runner due to it's Toyota reliability and resale. That said, no way could I daily drive this vehicle. My Jeep gets 24 mpg on the highway, this thing won't break 20. This thing is at least 10 years old and they are bragging now about their push button start. Thanks Joe, my hunt continues, may have to go with another Grand Cherokee

2500 RPM at 90 mph yesterday on the highway not terrible. It’s mostly the motor that sucks gas like a banshee. Nobody who knows anything would rather have that 3.5 out of the Tacoma though.

It is a Body-on-frame truck that weighs close to 2-and-a-half tons, and has a high center of gravity. It is never going to get good mileage on the highway. What you spend on gas is nothing compared to how few expensive repairs you will encounter vs. other SUVs on the road today.

@@randomrazr ...The Highlander is a uni-body crossover, and lower to the ground. Uni-body construction is safer in a crash. The 4Runner is a Body-on-Frame truck with a high center of gravity, so rollover crash ratings are not as good, and Body-on-Frames are never as safe in crashes anyway, because they do not have crumple zones, like a uni-body. They are different vehicles, and their crash ratings will differ. That is my point. And it is "Your."
