The Accord has been a top selling sedan for Honda for many years. New for 2021 there are some changes, especially for the Hybrid. On the outside you will find and updated grill, front fascia and wheels. On the inside there are some updates to the materials and now the Accord features wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline4 that is combined with an electric motor to produce 212HP. Is the NEW 2021 Honda Accord a BETTER hybrid than the Camry & Sonata?

I actually have a 2020 Honda Accord Touring - I’ve been very happy with it, especially with the fuel efficiency. It’s nice paying just $20 to fill up the tank and getting 530mph plus miles. Will make it harder switching to a non hybrid. Great video once again! Enjoy watching your reviews!!!

Joe this is basically an electric vehicle up to 60 miles an hour when a clutch pack engages the front wheels directly to the motor. A totally awesome and new design by Honda also used on the Insight, CRV, and Clarity. What makes this design awesome is that the car can actually be retrofitted to go all electric. There is no real transmission as in the traditional sense. Kudos to the engineering marvel this car is. There is an excellent video by Weber University explaining this motor, electric motor, generator, clutch pack set up. The main job of the naturally aspirated motor is to charge the battery.

I think this generation of Accord is by far the most beautiful ever. And this one is gorgeous. But at $30+k, our daughter liked the Accord, but opted for a new 2020 Lexus UX 200 at under $30k (BIG Active Military Discount). We also looked at it, but went with one of the last 2020 Civic EX Coupes.

I have always loved Honda Accords joe. Exl and above is always what I have purchased for about 10 years now. It’s nice that on the exl and above there are two USB ports in the rear it’s not just the touring trim. The grill and front end looks great. The only zonk for me especially in the top touring trim is no front camera ?!?! I mean that’s crazy on a 2021 and top trim. And also the only other zonk is no 360. I thought for sure the 2021 would have had a front camera and 360 so many cars out there have that. I’m sure we will see atleast a front facing camera on the accord in 2022 but this top trip should atleast have it.

Man I remember the old Accord but my dad bought a 79 civic which I drove and I was so happy he didn't buy a Chevelle. This was not a hatchback but had a trunk where maybe you could fit a few soft balls and some Twinkies and Ho Ho's but not much more. Being a first time driver me and my friends put many miles on it. We learned how to disable odometer so long road trips showed up as a few miles so he didn't know we put a few hundred miles on it over time.

Wireless AA and Carplay starts on the EX Hybrid trim. It's also on the Sports 2.0T as well. Thanks for your videos as always Joe. I keep telling myself that I want better gas mileage but man once you drive that 2.0T you can't go back haha! I ended up getting a 20 Accord Touring recently and it's awesome so far. I like the old design a little better and the old start chime as well. The blade rims are better as well.

Recently (October 2020) bought a Touring model, myself. Love it! I paraded through the entire GM passenger line-up over the years. My last two being Cadillac. I stopped in a Honda dealership in September and took a look. I was pleasantly surprised by comparing and so glad that I made the change.

Plus the mpg would've been worst as well so no thanks. It has everything the Acura TLX Advance has at a way more reasonable price. I plan to upgrade the sound system eventually though as I like more bass in my car.

The only thing about these cars is that if you really want one or two options, you're forced to get the only trim level it's offered it. What if I want 17" wheels, Heads up display, and cooled seats? Guess I'm getting a Touring. Living near the Gulf of Mexico, I definitely want cooled seats. And I had a HUD on a 2005 Grand Prix Comp G. Absolutely loved that feature. I guess the adaptive suspension will make up for the harder sidewalls. But, I wonder what the tires price difference is when it's time to replace them. 🤔

Horsepower ratings are not always well understood; even more so in hybrids. And although this car may actually be simpler than conventional cars, how horsepower is applied is different than you expect. And different than what Raiti said (forgivable - nobody says it right). The SAE net horsepower for an engine is the power it can provide *after* power necessary devices like oil and fuel pumps. But it is calculated *before* ancillary devices like power steering and A/C,. I've seen wildly different estimates for how much the difference is between SAE net and what reaches the road, but it seems to be 10 HP to 25 HP less than the rating of the engine. And that is only at one specific engine speed. Honda seems to adhere to the spirit of these ratings, but cannot adhere to the letter of the rules. In any situation that requires significant power, the current Honda hybrids really are electric vehicles. But the electricity comes from the combination of engine-driven generator and the battery. That's the combination that can provide 212 HP, not the engine and motor. Not all of that can reach the road, but it is because when power is needed this car is driven exclusively by the 181 HP traction motor. So the 31 HP difference can be used by ancillary devices, and 181 can be applied to the road at any speed above about 40 mph. Which is about the maximum that the 192 HP, turbocharged CVT in the standard mode can do after ancillary losses.

Awesome review. Few things... 1: I agree. The wheels are 100X better than any other hybrid. Like you said, apparently a hybrid car is supposed to have weird wheels. They do looks the same as the last gen Accord Sport, but they were also beautiful. Also, stolen a lot apparently. 2: The styling and look of the Accord does look much better than most others, and will hold up. I'd trust this over a Sonata or Kia's new one. 3: I do agree they need to add a larger panoramic roof but I think they have to save things like that for the TLX (or Acura's), but what's crazy is they didn't offer it on the new TLX! Come on Acura/Honda.

Nice review of one of the best values in new cars in my opinion. It belies the need for “genuine” luxury cars with its space, features and big range of capabilities. One potential “zonk” I’m surprised was missed was the exposed hinges in the trunk. I wouldn’t expect scissor hinges at this level, but for a high end trim from a manufacturer like Honda, they should be covered. Overall though still near the top value overall around 35.
