I bought MK8 Autobahn, except heating/cooling physical knobs, I really don't mind the new interior. 2022 Si looks better interior wise but try to find one for MSRP! Dealers near me asked for 35K for one which made me pay 4K more to get autobahn llaunch edition

I love how this platform has basically grown up with me. Si’s were super sporty back then with the coupes but now it’s like I’m older and the Civic Si is more mature looking now lol I would love to put some slight lowering springs on these just to reduce the wheel gap and keep it stock.

I respect you opinion. But as someone’s who’s relatively young and loved prior Honda’s. Seeing Honda move away from more sporty looking car’s has really made me quite sad. I remember when Toyota moved away from sporty cars and is now making an effort to come back. With the GR Supra, GR86/BRZ and the GR Corolla (which might be a civic/gti killer) really makes me wish Honda at least kept the coupe. Especially since they could’ve probably afforded to.
@jd3330
@jd3330 2 жыл бұрын
@@omarawilson2853 I just think that market (sub $30,000) is over saturated nowadays. There are better offerings than a sporty 200-hp Si such as the Miata. There’s also the Veloster N which is an amazing deal for the price. There’s the GTi, WRX, and GR(86)/BRZ. I personally got my 2019 Mustang GT at $28K brand new and I was picking between the Miata, Civic Si, and Veloster N. So I think they want to target a specific audience now who want sport and functionality at a good price point.

@@jd3330 yea I think that mustang was steal, and I’d pick that over the Miata and Civic in heartbeat. Honestly I just love the fact that Japanese sports cars are finally coming back and I think Honda chose the wrong time to really kill off their sporty line up

Great car Joe... But you cannot find in CA for $28K, that's a joke. If Honda is reading this wonderful! I've contacted Customer Service in Torrance, CA. They tell me to contact the Sales Manager at my local dealership to see how they can earn my business. Lol. Unfortunately here in CA the dealers are really sticking it to the buyers with these insane mark-ups over MSRP from $3K up to $10K. HMC really you need to talk to these folks like Ford and Subaru are doing... Yes I get they are all independent dealers.. But still, these "stealerships" are not doing your customer base any favors if people cannot afford to buy...I have a 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan with 252K I am looking to replace with this car. Not with that joke price...$37,490 with $5K "Mark-Up" and $4K of "Accessories"

Living in Canada, it amazes me how Honda USA shafted their customers big time. Interesting how in Canada the Si is a top trim and you can only get 1.5T on the Touring while in the US, the Si is cheaper than a Touring and you can get the 1.5T on the EX trim. Canada: LX (2.0), EX (2.0), Sport (2.0), Touring (1.5T), Si (1.5T) US: LX (2.0), Sport (2.0), EX (1.5T), Si (1.5T), Touring (1.5T).

Great review as always, thank you sir. Glad you gave kudos for the volume knob and knocked the lack of fog lights. Also wish it had side mirror turn signals. Don't mind the lack of dedicated button to toggle the auto rev matching as most people will leave it on or off all the time. Overall, it's the antithesis of the boy racer 10th gen but the only real problem, and maybe a deal breaker, is the lack of a spare tire. Not acceptable in a car this size.

Another great review in the books!! I currently have a 2019 Si and, as expected, it's been bulletproof! I actually prefer the look of the new one so I will consider it in a year or two, but, yeah, I just wished Honda would have infused it with at least 20 to 30 more hp. I am looking forward to seeing what Acura does with its Civic Si treatment of their Integra, love the hatchback utility! But again, if it has identical power, I fear that the Integra will be even slower since it's the hatchback version and it will probably have more equipment and sound deadening which will equal to more weight. We shall see I guess.

@@simonsmith582 exactly. I’d be happy with a solid 230-250. It can EASILY be done too. The motor displacement isn’t an issue, neither is the turbo. I can very easily be done (and still be reliable) I guess that’s their way to push the type r. Which is an amazing car. I’d die for a type r. But the power gap is way too big for them to both be sport versions.

Unfortunately all cars are becoming way too expensive. This should cost 26k max. But inflation and greed are constant variables in life
@mistamaog
@mistamaog 2 жыл бұрын
@@SIIKAP1 Yeah I agree, it should've been 26k max. The Elantra N Line that competes with this is under 25k and is more feature compete, aside from not having an LSD. At least the base WRX and base GTI haven't gone up that much, but options can add that price up

Very nice Honda. Less horsepower is ok because when you go through some twisty roads that is where it shines. I used to own a Toyota Celica GT-S and that did not have lots of horsepower, but I loved that car for it's great balance. Plus, owning a car like that Civic Si will not break the budget or break your wallet at the pumps. Great review Joe and Lori!

Thanks Joe and Lori for an excellent review. I know they are in different leagues but how would you compare it to the current (last gen) Type R, which you can get on the used market for about the same money?

I’ve been in both the new Si and a couple trims of the new GTI. People may cross shop these two cars, as I am (plus a couple other new cars), but they are really in different leagues. I owned a 7th gen. Si and loved it, but at this point I’d probably rather have the VW, which is nicer car overall.

i just dont like the rear light design though it looks really generic and bland-kinda like an accord. i definitely prefer the hatchback version instead.

Yes, I literally was thinking the same thing. Like why not just put the more angular ones on the hatch & sedan body styles⁉️ Why do they always try to do the sedans more generic to hatchback counterparts? Before the Chevy Cruze was discontinued the hatchback also had way better taillights and the old Elantra/Forte hatch styles.

@@lryoung17 honda’s are known for boring tail light designs. Not sure why they don’t improve upon them though. I’d like these Si tails much more if they removed a lot of that grey part.

The only thing I agree with this direction.. is they got rid of the chrome . A lot of us 10th Gen owners chrome deleted ours. But they got rid of heated seats and adaptive dampeners . Yet dealerships are marking these up like we are upgrading lol and no fog lights on this one.

Joe, right now I’m driving a 2018 Honda Odyssey with Si badges affixed to the front and rear. That tells you all you need to know about how I roll. I had a 2009 Si coupe and it remains quite possibly my favorite car or #2 at the least. I still regret selling it. I’d strongly consider this if I were in the market to buy a new car. My problem is that I like and want everything, but having the ability to buy something, I’d likely go towards something fun. If I had to cast off the Odyssey but still find something practical, I think this car would easily fit the bill. Thanks for feeding my dreams. Be well, my friend.
