Is the New Bentley Continental GT Worth £160,000? | TEST DRIVE

This is the brand new Bentley Continental GT, and everything you would want to know about it! From a full in-depth walkaround to stretching it's legs on the mountain roads of Austria. I've been looking forward to driving the 3rd generation of the Continental GT, but is it going to be worth the £160,000 pricetag?
With a well specified car easily reaching £200,000 on the road, the Continental GT is an incredibly refined and luxurious vehicle, with a 6.0l twin turbocharged W12 making 635PS and 900Nm of torque that can do 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds. On the inside it introduces a new rotating central display and a whole host of new technology via the full digital display and systems such as the 48V active damping system and triple chamber air suspension.
After picking up the new Continental GT from Bentley's base in Kitzbuhel, Austria, we head out for a short drive before a full walkaround to discuss what's changed from the previous car and the various aspects of this generation. Then it's back on the roads to head up the mountains into some tighter and twistier pieces of tarmac to push on and test the dynamic elements of the car. Lastly let's take a detailed overview of the interior dashboard and display systems.

I swear I wouldn't be able to watch a 30 min review of a car by anyone other than you Tim. Ok so let me clarify...I like Tim's "reviews" better than any others. I watch MANY other car specific KZbinrs and enjoy most of them a lot (MRJWW, SEENTHROUGHGLASS, THESTRADMAN, etc etc), and I have watched most of the ones you mention, but when it comes to reviews......Tim is tops in my personal book! That doesn't mean he needs to be tops in your book, or that others aren't good or even great. Just a personal preference (which is what makes the world such a great place)...if we all liked the exact same thing, it would be pretty boring!

Tim...few others can present such a fact packed review as you do without it being boring! That takes some ability and again, you make the video engaging and full of useful information. This car is wonderful...a stunning place to be and I can live with the Audi switches and accept that underneath it is a Porsche/Audi variant but the result is a magnificent car and on my list when it is two years old and closer to £100,000..or maybe three and £70/80,000 by which time a low mileage Mulliner with Naim will be a very special purchase. I am looking forward to it already to replace my new SL which is also special in a different way...and I need to get to those Alpine Passes...value every mile you do Tim...remember these days and treasure them. alby graham why do you say that because their own website certainly infers that they are closely linked and indeed are sponsoring a team of Bentley Naim racing saloons. Maybe the Naim domestic HiFi Division has nothing to do with them but it does look like the automotive side is very much involved. What have you heard and who makes this branded radio system then?

alby graham .well I am surprised and understand your explanation. I did wonder if the domestic products were rather different compared to the car systems. I suppose all we can hope for is that the car installation sounds wonderful even if made by somebody else. I still am impressed by the Alpine 7:1 system in my old Land Rover Freelander and so far have yet to find better. The Harmon Kardon in my new SL is good, clear and enjoyable but simply does not have the cabin space to cope with dynamic recordings such as cathedral organ music. Thank you for pointing out the true situation behind Naim!!...I will still look for a Bentley with one next time though!!😀

Not saying it takes away from the sound, still great just not quite what it used to be imo. prime is the old conti's. i find H&K systems superb and my dad being into his hi-fi praises them as well. personal favourite is the burmester in the new S class. anytime, i would still recommend doing so honestly.

Hey Shmee, I always enjoy watching your reviews. Just a small hint: torque vectoring brake interventions in the new Bentley Continental GT are only executed at the rear inside wheel. Braking the front inside would have much less effect and would be uncomfortable as you would feel it in the steering. ;)

That cold start idle at 2:35 sounds nice, but 2 seconds later I guess a valve closes & it sounds horrendous. It may be better on a warm start.

may well have been that those had been there for a while, and may have been, not a cold, but a cooler start than normal for them, however, could may well be a weird raspy sound that bentley has gone for.

My E89 35i did that. Sounded raspy and provocative on start up but would immediately revert to Meet Her Parents Mode. There is a way to open the valve permanently which I didn't try. In shift Sport mode it dumped a half gallon down each backpipe whenever I let off the throttle completely. Lots of full fat pops. Miss that car.

I love the car, but why the does virtual cockpit and steering wheel look basically the same as in my Audi SQ5? I even think the graphics look better in the Audi. I understand they share parts, do it in Porsche sure, but Bentley should still try and keep the 'hand-made' feel to them, which every manufacture is losing now, especially the VW group. Keep up with the awesome reviews!

As you say, the V8 looks like it will be the better option. The lighter weight (weight distribution) and enhanced steering feel will be the perfect balance between GT and sport mode. Just love, love the interior. Fit for a god.
