I agree with the massess that it's gorgeous but over-priced. IWC overall has drastically increased their prices over the past couple years. Pilots chronograph 41 was 6500 USD in Jan 2022 and now is 7600 USD. The ingenieur should be between 6k to 7k USD. Having this cost more than a Datejust, hell more than a GMT Master 2, is absurd.

At 12-14, there are way too many options, especially if including secondary markets. I feel my Octo Finissimo will much less likely to be dated (probably because it probably will never be mainstream, lol) in 5 years. I am negotiating a great deal on a Moser for less than 12, also not a derivative design. There are Mk XX’s on bracelets to be had for less than 5500, and much more interesting Zenith models for less than 9. And BnM are great deals, too. I’ve got a couple watches with 19mm lug width, something that’s often made out to be a big deal, it’s not an issue these days, I’d find this kind of setup far more restrictive. I’m more of a dress watch these days, this strikes me as one of the nicer integrated sports watches today. No way would I consider it at retail. I do love the case, I’d wear it in the bracelet and be done. I’d consider a preowned Defy Skyline at the right price. I’m more of a Zenith fan but prefer this aesthetically. The IWC is none of that and to claim that the design's inspiration in work they paid Genta for over 50 years ago should add any value or cost is straight-up ridiculous. Imagine VW charging $75,000 for a new Golf because the same designer that did the original in 1973 also designed higher-priced exotics for Maserati, Lotus, and Alfa Romeo.
