I often tell people it's sort of like a very narrow, much smaller Zodiac that can also paddle as a kayak, use a sail rig, and fit in the trunk of a small car. And now as a SUP too. I upgraded to the older model Paddleski from the similar 330 kayak. The Paddleski 435ps paddled even better than the 330 did, plus all these other incredible features. I have the new 437ps too now, and am trying to figure out where the kayak paddling ability falls with in the Sea Eagle kayak line. I'd say a bit more of a boat than a kayak on the new model, but I would be the kayak ability on a calm day is probably similar to the 370 kayak, but I'm not exactly sure yet. And I've been paddling my Razorlite I just got in July, and that is so easy and fast, anything else will seem slow and harder. But even at 370 kayaking speed & effort, that's still incredible for a boat you can put a decent motor on or sail. Most boats don't have any kayak paddling ability, but rather, rowing backwards which I don't like nearly as much.

Great video Hawaiian Dan! As a Paddleski owner for over 10 years, I'm well aware it's the best boat in the world (the most fun you'll have on the water). So portable & versatile! I'm loving my new 437ps, and I have a total of 3 Paddleski's. As a kayaker that doesn't fish, many people have asked me about the performance of the 437ps using a kayak paddle. If you could make a video demoing & explaining that, it will help a lot of people decide if they want one. Many of these people are trying to decide if they should buy the 437ps or one of Sea Eagle's other kayak only models. I've tried to explain it to them as well as I can, and hope to have my own videos up about it in the future. The ability of a single boat that is so portable that can serve as a kayak, motorboat, sailboat & SUP (as Kayak Cliff pointed out) is incredible. Everyone is aware it's a Jack of all trades, and maybe a master of none, but it does so much and is really incredible all this can exist in one super portable boat. Perhaps, even a comparison paddling it calm water against the Explorer or SE370 which would be the most likely alternative models they would consider. The biggest attraction to me originally was the sailing ability of the Paddleski. And Jim at sailboatstogo, the expert on converting inflatables into a sailboat, has a sail rig for the 437ps available already. I hope Sea Eagle will once again advertise the Paddleski for use as a sailboat, and provide a link to Jim's site in your catalog as Sea Eagle has done in the past, unless your planning on offering your own sail kit for it as had been offered on the older Paddleski when I bought it.

@@SeaEagleBoats Another question I have been asked a few times, is why should someone choose between the Sea Eagle FishSkiff vs the Paddleski 437ps? And also between the 437ps and the FastCat 12 (which weighs 113lbs) and still takes up to a 6HP motor. Both the Skiff & FastCat are all dropstitch material vs just the floor, so please explain those advantages in the case of vs the 437ps. Faster top speed, as is the case with the Razorlite kayak? You could best answer this for them, but I would think the answer would be. The FishSkiff offers more deck space for fishing gear and higher seats, and has a higher top speed as it can take up to a 9.9HP motor vs a 6HP of the 437ps. The Paddleski offers the ability to use a kayak paddle that you probably wouldn't want to use on the skiff or FastCat, and the ability to sail with proper now available rig that is less likely to be made for the others. The Paddleski is also lighter to carry alone at 67lbs vs 99lbs. The Paddleski 437ps is also less expensive than the other two. I think the other two both say two passengers, but I'd think fitting three wouldn't be a problem for motor around sight seeing. I'd fit 3 passengers on the smaller 435ps Paddleski, though it's not designed for it.
@SeaEagleBoats

@@n8goulet You pretty much covered it all. For each person, it comes down to personal preference, needs, wants, price range. The PaddleSki is the smallest and lightest with great speed and economy. Next is the FastCat12, which provides more deck space while still offering the performance of a catamaran. The FishSkiff16 is a downright fish-slaying skiff with a lot of deck space, the ability to comfortably take three, and a bigger motor as well as an electric trolling motor. I always tell people to write out a list of things they want from a hull as well as some compromises and then find one that fills the list as close as possible or exceeds it. Only then will you be happy. What not to do is to expect more from a hull that it can provide or to exceed its limitations.

Has anyone tried water skiing on any of Sea Eagle's inflatable boats at all? And at what speed motor might you need. I know I saw a video years ago of someone water skiing on either a 3 or 5 HP, but it was say to just barely fast enough, and perhaps a strain on the motor.
@SeaEagleBoats

@@n8goulet You're correct in it's possible with a 5 hp but not practical. Would be a cool video though. Most that ski behind Sea Eagle's use the Sport Runabouts series and up to a 40 hp. However, generally for skiing most prefers a heavier hull so as to minimize swing.

Aloha bruddah Derrick, the cool thing is, I'm actually currently filming a sequel video to show range, why it's important, paddling capabilities, trackability, stability, and how I rigged my to the nines! The new high-pressure drop stitch floor is similar to both an iSUP and the TC16. The side chambers are similar to the kayaks, fishing boats, and our inflatable boat line. I'm pretty rough with my Sea Eagles, often responsible for abusing them and trying to break them on a regular basis. I'm involved from the concept, through design, manufacturing, product testing, QC. and product review and I can honestly say, Sea Eagle's are the toughest inflatables on the market. With such thorough research as you have invested, be sure to upgrade your Sea Eagle 3-Year Warranty to 6-Years ok. For the PaddleSki™ is only $99 and worth every penny. Thanks for watching! Curious what the transom is actually made of and if you have experience with a sealant. What cleaner do you use for your 437 ? I am unfortunately having buyer's remorse with my Newport Vessels battery box. Really poorly designed terminal post seats of all things. U have experience with other battery boxes besides the Minn Kota ? Thanks again !

Aloha @hunterm7624, it's great to hear from you! The transom is made of wood. In it's current design it's going to get beat up. So use the heck out of it. When it get's close to the end of your 3-year warranty take photos of it and email them to Staff@SeaEagle.com for a warranty transom replacement. I used 3M Marine Cleaner & Restorer as well as 303 Protectant on all my Sea Eagle's. The key is to apply them when you first receive the hull so the protection starts immediately. Kind of like sunblock. The protection starts when you apply it. This will also prevent staining by creating a barrier. Remember to reapply from time to time. I agree with all the battery boxes on the market. Non of them are made for saltwater which is a shame because none hold up. I go through at least two every season.

I have a Mercury 4 hp four stroke I upgraded to a 6 hp changed out the carb & prop. I have been using it on my Saturn 13' SK385XL Kaboat. I decided on the 437 PS because it is more suited for fishing vs the Saturn. I am going to add a few more glue on Scotty's mount so I can add extra attachments. I might order the Yak Attack command stand also once I add the Scotty glue on mounts. I also like having the extra chambers on the Sea Eagle, my Saturn has the 5 chambers also. Hawaiian Dan: I wanted to ask a specific question here about attaching an outboard and where the anticavitation plate sits. I noticed the drop stitch floor leaves some space underneath the boat due to the catamaran design. Where does the ventilation or anti-cavitation plate sit from an outboard relative to that floor? And then where does the floor sit when the boat is actually in the water and loaded? I'm assuming it's still above the actual water level. The reason I'm asking these questions is I want to be able to go as shallow as possible. It seems like if the anticavitation plate is made level with the floor, then you would have a minimum amount of the prop in the water, but not sure that's how Sea Eagle has designed things.
@SeaEagleBoats
@SeaEagleBoats 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Troy D, anti-cavitation plate location is specific not only to the motor make, model, and manufacturer instructions but also per the specs of the hull itself. With that said, when paired with rigid hulls, most anti-cavitation plates are designed to be at water level or a couple inches below. However, the same principle does not always apply to inflatables as they can perform quite differently. Developing only inflatable watercraft for well over 50 years places Sea Eagle Boats at the top of their class and through extremely thorough and diligent testing, the Honda 5 hp, 4-stroke, 15", short-shaft, outboard has been spec-ed to pair perfectly with the Sea Eagle 437ps PaddleSki™. The height of the PaddleSki™ floor while on the water in reference to load varies depending on load and weight distribution. However, it's normally around 5-inches above the waterline and is designed to be above the waterline once you're on plane. Our hulls are designed to go as shallow as possible without sacrificing performance. Going shallow as possible depends on two main things. With or without using or running the motor and with. The PaddleSki™ by itself drafts as little as 2-3-inches and with the Honda 5 about 10-inches and as little as 8-inches when the motor is lifted to the shallow run position. The key is to make sure the motor is not sucking in debris, the water intake is fully submerged, and the cooling system indicator is flowing water. Your concern is to be more focused on the location of the cavitation plate in reference to the waterline instead of the floor. Last but not least all these factors are somewhat different when considering an electric motor. We hope this helps. Thanks for watching! We hope you subscribed to the Sea Eagle Boats KZbin Channel for more informative videos to come!

Thanks Dan! Sorry for all the questions, but I did end up ordering a 437 last Thursday. I plan to use with either the Tohusu 6 hp or the Suzuki 6 hp. I'm kind of leaning towards the Tohusu/Mercury. I will have to get with the boat shop to talk about different props, and then play around with the height a bit, but was just curious. I do understand the normal position for the cavitation plate is at water level, but I'm hoping to raise it a bit. I'll have to look at the detailed specs for the Honda vs Tohusu for height. I think I'd really prefer a watercooled engine, although the Honda being a air cooled (I think) could have advantages for shallow water as you would not need to worry about the intake. I mentioned to you in a private email my main boat is the Mokai, but I think it takes 8 to 10 inches to submerse the jet unit. I will probably add some type of a skeg mount prop protector to protect the prop. With that said, the 437 may go as shallow as the Mokai, and it's 100+ lbs lighter. Not sure if the Honda only locks in reverse and the rest of the time it's loose. I would certainly not want to have the motor locked into position and hit bottom.
@SeaEagleBoats
@SeaEagleBoats 2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure my friend. Great to hear from you! No need to be sorry about questions. I appreciate the questions, enjoy answering them, and they may help others. I haven't had much experience with Suzuki, except I believe a 5 hp we had years ago. Not such a great experience but that was an older motor. However, I do love the Tohatsu motors and have plenty of experience with them as well as the Honda's. Can't wait to see the performance you get with the pairing of 437ps PaddleSki™ and whichever motor you decided on. Knowing you like I think I do, you'll get the maximum performance possible. I can't tell you that during the designing/testing process we dialed pairing the 437ps PaddleSki™ and Honda 5 hp short-shaft to within an inch of zero cavitation. The cavitation plate is currently set at 5-inches below the floor and 1-inch below the waterline. This results in a 10-inch draft. We tried an inch or two shorter which puts the cavitation plate at and just above the waterline and it worked but we experience cavitation from time to time. At 3-inches or shorter the cavitation becomes consistent. We do have a customer who is modifying his 437ps PaddleSki™ for use with a mud motor which I believe will produce better speed results and go as shallow as fathomly possible. I'm with you with the water-cooled engines. I find them much more reliable and quiet. Air-cooled are so loud and still need some water submersion to prevent overheating. I still absolutely love that Mokai design. I see the benefits of the modular design and ease of acquiring parts if needed. Although I'm not so sure how easy it is to acquire parts in Alaska? You are correct that the Honda's lock in reverse but not forward. As a matter of fact, I highly recommend to others to put the Honda in reverse gear when trailering and to use a transom saver to prevent damage and extend the life of the transom.
@Deltro61
@Deltro61 2 жыл бұрын
 Good to know about dialing in the Honda. I can look at the detailed specs and use that as a guideline for other motors. I'm not sure they actually list the length from the transom mount to the cavitation plate, but that would be something useful to post. Do you know that length? As you said different manufacturers have slightly different specifications. And I don't have a huge amount of experience, but I know a different prop cup design as well as diameter can have a pretty profound effect on speed and performance, not to mention going to stainless steel over aluminum.

I believe what you're looking for is on page 30 of this manual ► cdn.powerequipment.honda.com/marine/pdf/manuals/00X31ZVC6110.pdf and that number is 17-inches. Also, one of the most important part of props is degree of pitch. We often visit the Honda Marine Testing Center to dial things in for peak performance. They are always quite impressed with our knowledge of inflatable watercraft but I guess with over 50 years of having all our eggs in one basket we'd better be the experts.

Trying to decide between this and the fsk 16- which is more stable and drier in chop? Anything stand out between the two? I am looking to fish on it and sometimes experience a bit of chop, thanks!

Aloha Matthew, both are great hulls. However, if you're going to be in lots of chop, the PaddleSki will yield a better ride than the FishSkiff16. The FishSkiff16 is a flat-bottom hull designed mainly for skinny calm waters as most skiffs are. It can take a lot of chop but it's not fun. The PaddleSki, however, is a catamaran hull designed for rough waters. One thing to keep in mind is it's low to the water and mainly a wet hull under rough conditions. Both are extremely stable and the FishSkiff16 provides more deck space. Thanks for watching and posting your question. We hope you'll consider subscribing for more informational videos to come! Stay safe out there.

Will this plane with two people around 180 pounds each?

@@SeaEagleBoats My current inflatable is a 12ft kaboat and it doesn't come close to planing with a new 6hp. It's a fast 18mph with one person but won't plane with two people. So that's why I was wondering if the Seaeagle could do it.

@@SeaEagleBoats If you showed a video of the boat planing with two adults, you would sell a lot of boats. Planing with two people with a 5 or 6 hp motor is a major problem with small inflatables. People on forums talk about this a lot.

@@chrisr465 We're already nearly sold out for 2021. The Kaboat is more a flat bottom hull rather than a catamaran and that results in more drag. Note how the Kaboat slaps the water in their running videos. The Sea Eagle PaddleSki has no slapping. It's not only about speed but more importantly, design, and how the design can enable more speed, comfort, handling, and performance. Olympic kayaks are able to plan at lower speeds by design. Sea Eagle has over 53 years of design and manufacturing. We'll see if we can produce a video with two people planing. However, it may not be until summer 2022. It's pretty hard talking someone into a ride on the water during the colder months up here in the northeast.
