Got one about 6 months ago with a 20mm f1.7 for $150 in mint shape. Very intuitive camera. Very easy to use without using menus and its smaller than my x100. The pictures are great

It was my first MFT camera that I bought back in 2015 and I still have it. It’s now paired with the 17mm f2.8 lens and I also have the optical viewfinder (useful in bright sunlight) . As you mentioned it’s capable of great images. I have a Flash Air SD card in it to enable quick transfer of images to the i-pad. It’s worth mentioning that this a great introduction into the Olympus menu system! It’s now taken second place to my EPL-8 as an every day camera but it still has use by my grandchildren. I am enjoying your videos thank you for your efforts.

I got my EP1 with the 17mm 2.8 in January and I love how small it is (coming from a Canon 1200D). Wish more people would give these older cameras a chance

Great video. Bought a "nos!" this year - pure delight. I use two GF1, two GX7, one GX8 and the E-P1! Love the E-P1 with the 17/1,8.

I recently bought one and I really like it. I consider it an upgrade from my Nikon D40 which I bought new. The build quality is phenomenal. I have several adapters for shooting vintage glass which is why I bought the camera. I also have the 19mm lens and it is perfect for street photography.

Absolutely I have one, far better than any cell phone camera. Use it like you do. If only as a backup camera body for the OMD. Uses the same battery as the OMD. Only limit video is limited to 720P. Get the DSLM attachment.

Don, another great video. My first MFT camera many years ago was an E-P2 (which I still have), and over the years I 've collected an E-P3, and E-P5 (love it!) and just a week ago a mint condition white E-P1 like the one in this video. My first photo walk with it and the Oly 17mm 1.8 lens really impressed me (again) with the IQ. However, I've seen a number of KZbin videos about the IBIS failing on these early PEN cameras, and in fact, when I dug out my E-P2 a few weeks ago it's IBIS has failed with the flashing red IBIS icon. It seems that the small nylon drive gears split and then spin freely on on or both of the IBIS motor shafts. Have you heard of this and do you have any idea how common it is? Thanks.
@dongummphotography7 ай бұрын
Sadly that is the case with the EP1. Mine has gone that route but since I only really use it with the 17mm lens it isn't an issue for me. Some, I have heard, fail with the sensor way out of position and the camera becomes rather useless. Mine is well centered so I am lucky I guess.
@gregfeeler69107 ай бұрын
@@dongummphotography Sorry to hear that, Don. The sensor on my E-P2 with the dead IBIS seems centered and takes great pictures. I have several Panasonic lenses with an OIS switch and by turning off the camera IBIS in the menus and turning on the lens OIS I get stabilization I believe to be as good or better than than the IBIS in these really early PEN bodies. Note that any Panasonic lens with OIS without a switch will NOT provide OIS with the E-P1/2/3 or E-PL1/2/3 or E-PM1.

The EP1 was the first Micro Four Thirds from Olympus (I still have it and enjoy it), and its 12 megapixel sensor has weaknesses when compared to the more modern 16 and 20 million of the same system, such as the noise level from ISO800 (in current micro four thirds models the noise at ISO6400 is lower than the ISO800 of the EP1), but it has other strengths such as that particular saturated color in its images that it usually likes and an attractive black and white. And combining the EP1 with the M.Zuiko 17mm 1.8 in silver makes a very attractive combination...
@dongummphotography11 ай бұрын
I think the EP1's sensor creates images with more of a film look than newer cameras. Thanks for watching!

Great video. One thing to watch out for is the IS going. If the IS symbol on screen flashes red, the Image Stabilisation is shot and there is no way back. I bought mine , used of course, and three weeks in, the IS went. Not a major issue as i use it in good light but just something to be aware of if buying these cameras.
@dongummphotography2 жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough, right after I did that video, mine did the same thing. I mainly use it with a 17mm or wider lens so it really isn't an issue but that darn IS warning flashing at me is annoying! Still, I frankly can't see any difference in the images with those wide focal lengths so I'll just keep on using it.
