Is The ORIGINIAL Final Fantasy 7 Still Worth Playing In 2024?

Hey man, I played this when it first came out but I am not sure if I can handle the graphics with how dated they look now. Can you remember the mods you used as there is so many on 7H? Great vid regardless!

I played the original back when it got released and prefer the original in-game models over the more "anatomically correct" ones in the mod. I find they don't clash as much with the backgrounds. I like the Remake just fine but my biggest criticism with it is how they handled Sephiroth. Sephiroth in the original was hyped up a lot before you even knew what he looked like. The Remake throws him in your face almost immediately and he keeps popping up. I got tired of him quick in the Remake while in the original I didn't want to run into him either but for different reasons; he was more intimidating. You initially only saw his trail of destruction, the game had you create your own mental image of what kind of monster he would turn out to be. You'd constantly be wondering what he was up to when he wasn't on screen. I don't know what the experience is like to play it for the first time nowadays but that's what we experienced back then, I know because we all talked about the game at school. My review of FFVII: Remake is pretty much that it's a fine game but it's no FFVII.

I 100% agree about Sephiroth! not seeing him but only seeing the destruction he left behind in 7 was much more intense. I’m still not too far into 7 OG but looking forward to it

I also agree with the original funny polygon lego models. You get used to them if you make it past midgar in the original ff7. The newer mods look nice, but they look a little too polished. the original animations arent meant for higher quality models, so they look weird at times.

I’m playing through it now on the Switch, for the first time since it came out when I was in college. I’m having a great time!

Original is always masterpiece no matter old Graphics in 1997 that was much far away than 1997 & mind blowing! & remake project in dreams come true !

The original FF7 is nothing short of incredible. The remakes are graphically superior, but there's a lot of things the remakes cannot win over the original. I agree, the FF7 OST is far superior than the remake OST.
