If you let the machine run through the full cycle it will grab the remain bits of dough. You’ll jam the extractor if you jam the remaining dough into it. The only thing I do is open the cover when there’s 3 minutes remaining and remove the dough stuck on the blades, it’ll then grab the small bits of dough and extract in the last 3 minutes. Also, you need to pour the liquid in slowing into the machine vs a fast pour. The disk should also be attached to the unit before placing the cover on it. There’s a notch that the disk needs to line up and click into before the cover. If you’re going to judge the performance of a machine you need to use it per the manufacturers instructions rather than winging it.

@richsam2874 жыл бұрын
I have had this item for a few years now. Pro Tip (1) If you are not using a pasta flour to make your noodles, I.E. AP flour always add gluten otherwise the noodles will not hold together, and you won't get that nice pasta mouth feel you are accustomed to with normal noodles. I add 1 to 1.5 tsp of gluten add in when I make a 2 cup batch. Pro Tip (2) noodles are ugly at the start and end of the run. I put the pressed noodles right back in until they start looking good. When the run is at the end and the noodles start to look funny I turn it off and discard. You will waste about a 1\4 cup of product but noodles will have much better consistency.
@TheEvilmooseofdoom3 жыл бұрын
On another channel someone said bread flour works better than AP.. If you have the urge to experiment I'd like to hear the results. I'm on the fence about an automatic maker, I have always made by hand in the past resting my dough for 90 mins before putting through the hand crank. In my new place I can't clamp my crank down due to the design of the counter top which is why I was looking at the automatics.

The most important part: how easily does it clean up? How does one get the dough out of the extruder heads?
@MsDee_7776 жыл бұрын
Ya! Ditto same thought??? Cleaning the darn thing is important 🤔
@Oversoul2256 жыл бұрын
Wife and I have one. Clean up is not too bad. Basically scrape the left over dough off, run the pieces under the sink, and into the dishwasher. If its too terribly inside any of the extrusion heads, they go into the freezer and then the left over dough can be broken off easily. Several of the different extrusion heads also have plastic moldings that have matching pins that push the dough out of the holes backwards. Maybe a 5 minute clean up, usually while the pasta is cooking. We don't regret the purchase at all.
@MsDee_7776 жыл бұрын

@pinkmonkeybird26446 жыл бұрын
It’s easier cleanup than making fresh dough by hand by a long shot. I just let the pasta bits dry and then they become easy to wash out. The dough scraper thingie also has metal prongs on the end you use to pick out any stubborn dough from the discs. By contrast, I end up with flour all over my kitchen when I mix, knead and roll sheets of pasta by hand. This isn’t perfect; it’s annoying to make large batches (at least my version only allows for 2 cups of flour at a time), and the first pasta pieces that are extruded are usually pretty manky. I throw them out. But overall, it’s fun to use, easy to clean, less messy and involved than making by hand, and the fresh pasta cooks in a minute or two. I’d recommend only it if you are a small family and really prefer fresh pasta. I’m happy with it.

Hey great video. I just bought one for Christmas - it's still basically the same unit. The best part was a comment about a different pasta dough recipe wouldn't work with this unit. I was making it too wet and it was a disaster. That and I watched a bunch of other videos and you were the only one who experienced the same thing I did which is that some of the damned dough is just going to bounce around and not get pushed through so you need to have a littel human intervention. Thanks for this helpful video.
@xxirion5 жыл бұрын
You need to turn the cutter around the other way also, as you're cutting with the flow of the pasta being extruded, instead of against it. I've had the model above this one the automatically weighs how much liquid you need to flour for over 2 years now, awesome machine and from what other people are saying (I'll agree with here) the first 5-10cm cut off and put back into the machine to allow this to be reincorporated. Also, it's not meant to be a dough, it's suppose to be a damp crumbly mix, as the pressure through the die will force the mix to compress and hold it's shape. There shouldn't be that much dough left in your machine. Using a spice grinder to grind up your own spices into the flour is great, different vegetable juices also are amazing as well. TIP - using an egg in most noodle recipes if you're not using semolina flour and want an eggless flour, and definitely a teaspoon of vegetable oil will also give you amazingly smooth pasta, and noodles as well (garlic oil is my fave) Running the machine through an additional extrusion cycle, if there's still dough in the machine, will help ensure all the dough is used.

Even many of the smaller scale industrial grade pasta makers do not have that option. It is most likely very expensive to add to a machine. Honestly it makes sense not to have that feature. People prefer their pasta different lengths sometimes. It only makes sense for massive pasta extruders due to the quantity of pasta being made. Since this is such a quick process it would not make sense.

I have this machine, when Im finished making pasta, I put the whole machine out on the back porch, the ants clean it for me, could not be easier. I used to put it back in the original packaging (unused pasta dough and all) return it to Target but they caught on to me!

I wonder if the machine would work with alkaline water for ramen noodles or if the dough would be too tough for the machine to knead.

the trick with the crappy bits that first come out is to dump it back in the extruder to do a better job

Do the recipes allow for different types of flour in order to get low carb noodles? Anyone ever made noodles with almond meal, coconut flour, walnut flour etc? I'd buy this yesterday if it can make low carb noodles.

Pasta is always fun to make. We do fresh pasta with the kids all the time. No machine all by hand. Get creative.

I never understood these kind of comments. Sure its fun for you but not others. Imagine if someone stopped you from getting your oil changed and said but changing your own oil is fun and makes you feel like you accomplished something!

There are many advantages to a pasta extruder. I have personally made pasta by hand,with a hand crank machine, and with this extruder. You would never be able to properly make many shapes such as bigoli, rigatoni, bucatini, etc by hand

But what's it like to clean? That thing is huge! Will it fit in a kitchen cabinet or under the counter?
@Yesim7305 жыл бұрын
Robert Jensen the machine isn’t that big. It’ll fit under the counter/ kitchen cabinets without a problem. Clean up is easy. Let the disc air dry, push the dry dough out with the included tools, everything can be washed easily by hand. Only 3 pieces need to be washed, the main fountained, the mixing wand and the disc.

hello, you use it incorrectly at the end. The machine will rotate revisely to get all noodle comes out

5:18 - i dont agree, I had one of these machines, the dough is mixed, and pushed through tiny holes ruining the gluten structure, its not kneaded and rolled into a single direction, so the noodle texture is just trash - its gummy and weak compared to rolling the dough through a hand pasta maker and cutter. Anyone wanting to make ramen, u gotta do the pasta roller fams

Easier to use the old, reliable Atlas machine, and roll your pasta (for those kinds of shapes). Mix the dough by hand, takes 5 min, and then rest 30 mins (per la nona). Atlas also makes machines for tube shapes.

Yep. I have the Marcato Atlas roller, and several different cutters (the one that came with the machine and some optional ones). I'm saving up to buy the Marcato Regina hand-cranked pasta extruder, which is just under $100, but what I'd really like is the Marcato Ristorántica...but it's over $4,000! kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2q4hqCBhq1-jLs

I use mine at least once a week, spaghetti, lasagna sheet and Chinese soup noodles (angel hair attachment). You can do good ramen noodles but you need kansui, eg Koon Chun potassium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate, to get a good bounce to the noodle. Tip for cutting, I use a hard card squeegee that's used for applying window film. It's plastic and has a good hard sharp edge, no more squished pasta.
