I actually love the buttons. Its more cockpit like and logically more “purposeful” per switch. If it were in a touchscreen program for those buttons and settings. It would be harder to access them since you have to open it like a computer rather than the conventional switch. Plus, touchscreens dont age well overtime.

That generation of the Porsche Cayenne is the best SUV imho. And I LOVE the buttons. Takes about 5 days, then you have all the buttons in your hands. Touchscreen? No thanks, need to look at it every time to point the finger at the proper menu, then select the proper item in the sub-menu, and pressing the "are you sure?" confirmation. Buttons FTW! Remember this is meant to drive 220Kmh+ on the Autobahn. I love the Porsche Cayenne Diesel S with a V8 Diesel with a lot of torque. Too bad they axed it. Great mileage as well.

I've spent a lot of time in cayenne's, and the chassis tuning and handling dynamics are second to none. I did find the 8 speed to not want to upshift sometimes when you're driving spiritedly, but the models I drove were base v6 so its possible it's retuned for the higher trims. Most models have their share of issues that creep up across the board, but all are relatively minor and easy for an enthusiast to fix.

if you actually took a moment and looked at the buttons, you'd realize they make perfect sense and in perfect location. Using touchscreen while driving is actually much harder and not as safe since you have to look at the screen where as tactile buttons can be used without looking.
@lukegilbert79854 жыл бұрын
Those are a/c controls, seat buttons are on the seat. Also the Cayenne cockpit is intuitive and easy to action on the move, cause it's a car. Try a new Audi Q8 for comparison, no buttons just smudges and a load of driving with your eyes off the road.

Great review. Although this GTS is a great example with Sport mode, one option it didn’t have, and that literally transforms the experience, is the Sport Chrono package with Sport Plus and Launch Control. That’s when the GTS really comes alive! The good news is that it can be added as a Porsche Tequipment after market option for just over $1000. Well worth it, IMHO. I love my ‘16 GTS and haven’t had a single problem with it.
@prabeeshsidhu3 жыл бұрын
Do you still have it ? How has the reliability been? How do you add the after market option for the sport chrono package ?
@sneaux598083 жыл бұрын
@@prabeeshsidhu The reliability of my 2016 Cayenne GTS has been great and I still love the vehicle. I recently test drove a 2016 Cayenne Turbo S that had almost every imaginable option and a list price when new over $175,000. Although the Turbo S accelerated like a freight train, had the awesome Burmester stereo system, and came with standard PCCB brakes with unbelievable braking power, it's definitely a bigger, heavier vehicle and rides taller than the GTS. In the end, I decided the GTS had plenty of power for what I needed and drove more like a sporting vehicle than the taller, heavier, more SUV-like Turbo S. Both great vehicles, but I think the GTS is more fun. As far as the Sport Chrono package, you should be able to get all the information through any Porsche dealership. It definitely made a difference. Good luck.

I looked at a Cayenne GTS back in 2013, when it had the naturally aspirated V8. Although it was a nice riding vehicle, I think it was far overpriced for the power it had. I considered it to be a poseur of the Turbo version, which was just that much more overpriced - but at least you were getting a hugely powerful and super fast suv. What’s funny is that I ended up with a Touareg diesel like Pete, which I love for the power it has in city driving and the exceptional highway cruising it offers, not to mention great fuel mileage. No, it’s not going to rip around corners like the Porsche could, but that’s ok. My wife has already said that we should look for an older 911 at some point in the near future, so we have something a bit more fun to drive, so I have that going for me.

The Macan and 958 cayennes have known transfer case issues, never heard of either “coughing up a transmission” although I’m sure it’s possible.
